This is not one of my usual in-depth reviews, but I wanted to put a post of my experience using IS Clinical products over the last six months. Back in April I ordered Super Serum and Active Serum from EDS to add into my routine. For me, whilst they are not "bad" products, I wont be repurchasing either.

I dont feel that Super Serum made any difference to my skin and I will be going back to Cellex-C 17.5% + B5 serum which made a remarkable difference. I purchased the Super Serum as I was in search of a Vit.C that was not at quick at turning yellow as Cellex-C. Super Serum took about 5 months before the color changed deeply, but still Cellex-C performed significantly better for me, even though it colored a lot faster.

Also, I found that the texture/weight of Super Serum was no use during the very hot & humid summer here, but now that the weather has cooled it is easier to use. I chose the Super Serum ahead of Janson Becket's C&C because it was less sticky upon application and I chose it way ahead of Vivier and PSF Vit.C serums because I could not stand the glycerine slip. Just a personal preference, but I cannot stand the glycerine texture. Just as an FYI, on top of Super Serum I have been using Remergent DNA Repair.

As for the Active Serum, at the time I was torn between that and the ProHeal or else PSF retinol. I have had no trouble with Active (thought when I first started I seemed to have a few breakouts) and rarely experience the tingling effect (unless used after exfoliation), though the effect is enhanced when used after Cellcosmet Activator Gel (feels WONDERFUL actually). I have used either Remergent Barrier Repair, L'Occitane Immortelle oil or most recently Amino Genesis Tripeptinon on top of Active Serum, though for a month I did use it with Hydra Cool when I had some samples.

I dont feel that Active has done anything remarkable for my skin either, which is the main reason I wont repurchase I guess. But I believe that the retinol (vit. A) is a better choice for my skincare goals (reversing non-visible sun damage), so I will switch over to the PSF Retinol or one of the Environ products, plus the Remergent Barrier Repair.

Hydra Cool is a product I have a love-hate relationship with. Laughing I hate the stickiness of it for everyday use, but it was not bad over Active Serum. However, where this product EXCELS is when the skin is irritated (um, my recent episodes of burning from using green apple peel and from applying a citrus toner 2 days after cellex-C speed peel). Hydra Cool on top of PSF O2 serum and lots of misting with Caudalie Grape Water was WONDERFUL in this situation. I would also bet it would be wonderful after a long day in the sun or if sunburnt. I will probably try to get some sample bottles to keep on hand for this purpose exclusively.

So, there ya go, that has been my experience over the last six months with IS Clinical.

tiger_tim, could you expound upon the Cellex C 17.5% with B5 and tell what type of difference that made in your skin? Thank you!

Oh, I cannot believe I did not do an individual review on the Cellex-C... I had a marked improvement in the texture of my skin and it just glowed. After 6 weeks of using the Cellex-C in the day and L'Occitane Immortelle Elixir (which I did review) at night my skin was just radiant. I actually did a post raving that for the first time in my life a friend I had not seen for a while actually told me my skin looked beautiful and asked if I had changed cosmetics! I only had the 1/2 oz bottle of each from a starter kit and it was my first ever Vit.C., so that is why I wanted to try something else, but I will 100% be going back to the Cellex-C combo.

where did you get environ from? I am interested in this line (especially full ingredients lists) but have not found anywhere with international shipping to buy it.

tiger_tim - Thanks for the review! It's exactly what I need. I was trying to look for something that does not change color as quick as Cellex-C and was thinking of getting Super Serum. I don't like the glycerine texture or anything sticky either. How is the texture of Active Serum? Do have another AHA/BHA product that you like better than Active?

I was just reading the above and then I read you're almost a Vit C Virgin. I couldn't believe that Shock where have you been ?!?!

But anyway I'm confused because it sounds like you've tried the others. Have you? I found the JB's C&C really nice and watery for a serum.

Tiger - I ordered mine on line at Firstforskincare.com. I have not found an ingredient list, either, and I searched all around. The site I listed above it out of Africa. I ordered over the weekend, got an immediate reply, got an email that the order was in "processing" and then got another email telling me the item had shipped and to give 7-10 business day. I think they have great customer service, which made me feel better about ordering from that site, as this was the 1st time I had used them. They look like they sell exclusively Environ products. HTH. Sorry I could not provide ingredient list!

I did mean to say that I really liked the super serum. I felt it was a part of the glow my skin had, but I was also using it with ReVive Sensitif and I believe it was a combination of the 2 products. My results for the "glow" took about 3 months of consistent use of both products.

I thought that since J& B isn't L-ascorbic it isn't as effective. That's one reason I never tried it.

Hi Molly, yes, it is only one year ago that I lost my Vit. C virginity. Shocking, huh?

I had sample bottles of the PSF, Vivier and JB C&C. I came very very close to getting the JB one because I did like the watery texture of it, but it was just a bit stickier than IS Clinical, but in hindsight, I think the texture of C&C is nicer.

tidieu, I had never used any aha/bha on my skin before. I was told once my skin was too sensitive for them, but I had no sensitivity to Active and last trip to the salon they recommended this kind of serum to deal with..um.. was it the oily t-zone or something. I forget. Laughing

I did feel it had an effect, but not as strong as L-Ascorbic, but since I tried the DY Triple C which had distinctly no effect I'm wondering if I imagined it. Confused

For those worried about their Vit C serum turning, I know that Greatskin.com has a 30% (!) vitamin c cream that I've heard is awesome. They recommend it for skin that has been slow to respond to other vitamin c treatments.

I've never used it myself, but I've mentioned before that my older sister, who is an INCREDIBLE product junkie, has done serious sun damage to her skin over the years. She'll try just about anything and has a huge box of stuff that she abandons. This is one of the few products she's ever reordered. She loves the stuff and I have to say, it has definitely done her a world of good....

Okay Tiger_Tim, now you have me interested in trying Cellex C. Smile

I am JUST starting a bottle of the Super Serum (which I do like so far for myself ... but you know, always searching for that something better). I know that our Canadian Shopping Channel has Cellex C coming up this week and was thinking of buying some to try after I finish the Super Serum (which may take me 5 - 6 months). If a new C Serum that I buy hasn't been opened, how long will it last? Like, if I didn't open it until 6 months from now is it still effective or does it deteriorate even when unopened? I'm just curious if it makes sense to stock up now while it might be on sale or if should wait. Does anyone know?

Thanks Katee! I wasn't sure, so I definitely won't buy some right now. Plus I am happy with the Super Serum, but you know there's always that part of me that wonders if there is something better. Smile

Thanks for the review...

I could not tell a difference with Super Serum but I can say that it did not cause any additional problems to my skin. So I don't mind repurchasing it. But I am running out and had to do a reorder and I did not reorder ISC Super Serum. Instead, I got Vivier 20%. I have used this before and totally unaware that it was sold at EDS. I was very happy with it.
I think in the summer, I will use Cellex-C High Potency because somewhere, I have read that Cellex-C is good to use in humid climates. I have that here in the summer but I love Vivier serum texture a lot better.
I have read on this forum that some people don't like Vivier Vit. C serum because they thought it felt too oily and I remember thinking the same when I first used it. But the staff from the Dermo office told me to stick with it and I did and had no regrets.

Skincare-I tried the Cellex-C and it did nothing for me. But then when I started using the Super and Proheal serums my skin began to glow. Maybe the Cellex does better for some skin types than mine.

You're right, Annie. I really think this whole Vit.C serum thing is a case of trial and error. Thank god for samples!

I am thinking of getting the Cellex-C advanced this time actually for the higher % and it seems to have the ingredients of the B5 gel already included too which makes it better value!

I tried Cellex C & it was too strong for me. I do have sensitive skin, but I love Super Serum. I guess it's just trial & error.

I used a whole bottle of the JB, and I'm using samples of the Super Serum. I really haven't noticed a thing with either one. What immediate results are you all seeing, other than glowing? I have honestly never used anything that I thought made my skin glow.

Hi Tosca,
I had nothing "immediate", it was 4-6 weeks before I noticed the changes. My skin just seems clearer - I dont mean clear of blemishes, somehow transperant, healthy, radiant. my skin still looks good, but somehow not AS good (as radiant) as it did when I had the Cellex-C.

I have been using Vit.C for a year now and some discoloration on my cheek has finally gone - It went to almost nothing during the 5 months I used Cellex-C and now it is hard to find the shadow (unless under the UV light at the beautician Shock), so I guess that SuperSerum helped finish that off.

I honestly thing with Vit.C samples they only thing you can judge on is how they feel on your face - which is going to be the most comfortable for you to use every day - because the effects are cumulative and long-term.

Thanks, tiger tim. I didn't like the JB. The IS Clinical is okay feeling to me, but I may try the Cellex-C before I make a committment.
