I have to say that the Before & Afters from this clinical study are quite impressive: http://www.skinmedica.com/grass-regimen?
SkinMedica GRASS Clinical Study
This 24-week study included 72 men and women, aged 30 years and older with various skin types. The participants had moderate to severe sun damage and skin discoloration on their face. Products and directions used in the clinical study:
• TNS Essential Serum® (Morning and evening after cleansing)
• LYTERA® Skin Brightening Complex (Morning and evening after TNS® Essential Serum)*
• Retinol Complex 0.5 (Every other evening, after LYTERA® in first week, every evening thereafter)*
• Daily Physical Defense® Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30+ (Morning after cleansing and moisturizing)
It looks as if they used a SkinMedica cleanser and moisturizer also.
Does anyone use any of the products listed? |

To my eye, the results show more lightening and brightening of pigmentation than wrinkle smoothing or rejuvenation. I don't use this line, but have considered it, but since pigmentation isn't my problem, I'm not as impressed by these results. |

I also see only brightening & lightening results.
Retinol complex is too weak, IMO, to produce visible anti-aging results. |

Yikes! $500 for 2 months seems high. |

SkinMedica is wildly overpriced! For instance, this is the ingreds list for Retinol Complex 1.0:
"ingredients for SkinMedica Retinol Complex 1.0
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Glycine Soja Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Niacinamide, Polyacrylate-13, Squalane, Retinol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8, Dunaliella Salina Extract, Magnolia Grandiflora Bark Extract, Tocopherol, Tocotrienols, Ceramide 3, Bisabolol, Phytosterols, Squalene, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oryza Sativa Bran Cera, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Palmitate, Laureth-23, Trideceth-6 Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Dicaprylyl Ether, Lauryl Alcohol, Polyisobutene, Dextran, Potassium Sorbate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin."
$90 for one ounce
srsly? for some retinol, niacinamide, a peptide, vitamin E and ceramides? The rest is just common moisturizers and tons of stabilizers to make it sit on a shelf for years.
The only thing from their line that seems interesting to me is the conditioned human fibroblast media (simply because its not something we could DIY).
Dermal needling will stimulate all the growth factors your skin needs, so why buy into all the hype of applying them from a bottle? |
