I'm looking for a diffuser for aromatherapy oils without heating them. I've seen devices where you soak a pad and place it infront of a fan but they seem pretty expensive for just a fan (about $50). Does anybody have a good non-heating diffuser that you'd recommend? Cheers. |

What do you mean without heating? Do you mean just without candles or no heat at all? I personally use an electric diffuser where I just plug it in. To me it's a lot safer than candles. You could try reed diffusers as that's all I know that doesn't require heat. I saw a USB diffuser on Escents' website - you plug it into your USB port on your computer, but that uses heat too and I'm not too thrilled always having a diffuser near my computer |

Hi sormuimui,
Yes, no heat. The idea is that the heat may destroy the oils/affect their properties. I have a little candle thingy and also an electric one but it is true that even if I switch the thing off after 20 minutes, the oil smells "funny". The local health shop has the pricy fan-assisted one and Amazon also has a few fan based ones - equally pricy, unfortuntaely. There's even something based on sonic waves!
These days I put a few drops of the oils in my air humidifer, which doesn't seem to heat the water.

Have you tried a reed diffuser? I just got one, but i haven't set it up yet. I think you can buy some reed diffuser base and just add essential oil to it. |

Hi cat!
Actually the reed diffuser is very simple, and great for avoiding exactly what you want to avoid!
if you look at Amazon.com, you'll find them - a bottle of the oil of your choice, with a few reeds used to absorb (they suck the oil up their length) and diffuse the smell into the room, as they exit through the special perforations in the lid of the oil.
No heating! |
