hey!
Lolli posted a website where she bought her veg. glycerin.
www.cranberrylane.com
the site is selling liquids lke AHA and green tea extract... do you know if i can just put them into my homemade masks and serums?
and i also heard that walmart is selling hyaluronic acid in capsules... can you mix the powder with water and apply it to your face?
one more thing,
i was on this site, they have all these recipes for homemade serums, but they are more scientific, not natural at all.
a member from that site stated that propylene glycol improves the penetration of vit. c in a homemade vit c. serum. is propylene glycol bad for you? |

As for the AHA's I don't know what their AHA blends are like - you would have to find out what their concentrations are. Then you need to measure out the concentration by mass and divide it by the total of the formula. Make sure that your calculations are correct when working with acid compounds, as you can burn yourself if they are too high, or they won't be effective if they are too low. Also, you have the whole pH factor to consider. Just because you add the correct amount of AHA doesn't mean that it will work unless the total pH of the formula is in the correct range.
As for your question about the HA capsules, yes, you can just add them to distilled water at a 1:99 ratio (ie - 1 gram of HA powder to 99g distilled water). Put it in a big amber glass bottle that you can shake & agitate to help it dissolve. Also pre-heating the water before you add the HA will help it to dissolve in your solution. You need to add a preservative though or it will grow bacteria & mold. Add a cosmetic grade preservative at least at .25% concentration by volume.
As for the propylene glycol, I do not believe that it is as bad for you as butylene glycol. As propylrnr glycol can be derived from natural sources (palm & seaweed), whereas the butylene glycol is not.
Good luck!
