An SPF between 30 and 50 should be adequate. More importantly though is that it contains a high level of stable UVA protection |

I think SPF 30 is good, but I have found that using a physical sunscreen with Obagi is better for a lot of people than the chemical sunscreens with Obagi. |

I am debating between Marie Veronique Moisturizing Face Screen (SPF 20) and Burnout Kids version.
Has anyone used the Marie Veronique? I like that it has so many antioxidants/oils, has a tint so I can hopefully skip foundation. But it is more expensive.
As far as Burnout, I have read mentions of applying mineral makeup over - but has anyone used a liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer over it with success? |
Hey,
I haven't tried Marie Veronique because of the expense. If cost is not a factor, it looks good. When I wear make up, it's actually liquid make up and I have no problem wearing it over burnout. My procedure is to first apply the burnout normally. Then I'll squeeze a dab of concealer a little darker than my skin tone into my palm and mix that with some more burnout, and apply that to my face. |

I use the Marie Veronique Face Screen SPF30 in the Light tint (this one: http://mvorganics.com/_product_83436/Moisturizing_Face_Screen%2c_SPF_30_-_Light_Tint)
I can't say enough good things about it. It doubles as a foundation, dries matte and smells great.
My skin is fair, so the light tint is perfect. The oils add some moisture, but it is not excessive or greasy.
It's pricey, I agree @ $40 for 2 ounces, but I figure I don't have to buy foundation.
I've not tried Burnout, so I can't compare it. |

Thanks Nimue and ShastaGirl for your replies.
I was hoping the MVO sunscreen would double as a foundation (that way the cost would be more reasonable). |

I have used the MVO sunscreen. I don't feel it protected me well. I'm out in the sun a lot though.
I haven't tried Burnout. I do want to try it. I am now using DDF physical sunscreen. I like it ok. It's tinted, so when I sweat, it comes off when I wipe my face with a towel. |

Physical sunscreens contain the active ingredients titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. They work by sitting on the skin's surface and reflecting UV rays. Chemical filters work by absorbing UV rays and converting the energy into heat. |

Oh, Thanks, but when we apply physical sunscreen, will face be shiny and glossy ?

With some, yes, with others, no. It's a matter of trial-and-error too as what makes me look shiny or leaves a white cast may not for you. |

Hi RussianSunshine-
I've not used other tinted liquid physical sunscreens, but I have used tinted moisturizers that have chemical SPF and powder physical sunscreen, so I can compare it to those.
The coverage of the MVO is slightly more "dense" than a tinted moisturizer, more like a lightweight foundation. It seems to cover my facial skin color imperfections. However, I don't have a lot of trouble with broken caps (only one, right under my eye, that's the size of a pinhead, I do have to use some concealer on that one)
I find that the MVO sticks to my skin better than the tinted moisturizers. And stays where you put it, once it dries. Sometimes the moisturizers just don't seem to totally sink in.
I'd say that the MVO covers similar to typical dusting of physical sunscreen powder (like Bare Essentials). But, I notice the powder accentuates my wrinkles by settling there, which the MVO does not.
Hope that helps. |

HOw long can you use this? for Sunscreen, 2 ounces is kind of too small because I apply three times a day. |

US companies are far more progressive in creating some decent physical SS formulas.
Not only that, they are far more progressive in creating good skincare formulas in general.
I always wonder why people are so interested in Dr. Hauschka and European stuff like that. In general, US companies offer MUCH better and advanced ‘natural’ skincare, but that’s just MHO).

Jimm, a bit OFF topic, but have you ever wondered why French women are so gorgeous until they are 80? And they do not use American skincare. So I would be more careful with a statement like this. |

I've got about 2/3 left of the first bottle I purchased. I've had it about 2 months. I use it 4-5 days/week, but I only apply once a day. I work inside, so that's often enough for me. Non-work days I'm using up some of the other sunscreen I have which is why I don't use MVO 7 days a week.
Yes, 2 ounces is small. I'm expecting to have to buy more every 3-4 months, but with the goodies in this and the tint, I don't have to buy other skin serums/creams to go under (I only use vit C serum under it) or foundation. |

It shouldn't take more than a month to go through 2 ounces of sunscreen... If it takes more than a month you're not applying enough. Just the numbers... I think something like marie veronique should be a supplementary product and go over a more cost effective sunscreen that you can be comfortable slathering on.
I think I will get around to trying marie veronique eventually actually. But I would by applying it over my "base" sunscreen. or mixing it with the less expensive untinted sunscreen to get something of a tinted moisturizer effect. |

I was using Lavanilla and HissyFit but today I got in travel sizes of Colorescience and love it! I used it alone and it felt nice on my skin. My skin was able to breathe too. With Lavanilla and Hissyfit, they felt heavy and caused some acne if I used makeup over them.
With the Colorescience, I mixed the All Clear with the Perfectly Clear and used a brush, was perfect, glad I ordered both colors. |

WhiteWolf,
Did you find travel sized of the Colorescience Orb or the regular sunforgettable? I love the Orb but would be thrilled to have a smaller size to take along for touch ups!
