I developed Breast Cancer while taking Embrel for Rheumatoid arthirtis. People taking embrel are known to develope solid tumors but doctors are not reporting it to the FDA as they should so we do not know how many people develope cancer while taking EMBREL.

I know several doctors who told me that they did not know they were suppose to report it. These are oncologist who diagnosis prostate cancer and lung cancer. Please be careful if taking Embrel. By the way it did help my Arthritis but the side effect were not worth it.

I am so sorry sharif2bd,

I know there are many of these new medicines out now that have a list of horrible side effects.

You can report it yourself to the FDA on their site.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and I will keep you in my prayers!

I am so sorry, my husband has rheumatoid arthritis and was diagnosed nearly 30 years ago, he is 55 now.
We don't have the drug you are talking about here yet.
I know the pain of the arthritis without the added horror of the cancer. Truly I am sorry and I hope they can help you.

Bless you both!! Adding you to my prayers, one illness is rough enough, but to develope another because of medicine is awful, I send you both huge hugs

I'm glad that I saw this thread. My mother has RA and is thinking of taking either this drug or Humira.

My husband took Humira for a few years. It was the best thing he has ever used. Now they have tAken him off of it, very expensive drug and he is on a 6 monthly infusion of something else, I cannot remember what it is.
It is not a patch on the humira but he has only had 1 round of it so far. So in my opinion I would recommend the humira.
Obviously everybody is Different but from Johns experience the humira was fab. we fought to keep him on it to no avail.

well the hospital said the new drug he is on would be better for him.

I think the truth of it is that the Humira costs them too much. When he originally started on the humira we were told it was £500 a syringe.
He had to have it delivered monthly which was 2 syringes and we had to keep it in fridge. He had to inject himself once a fortnight. So you are looking at a very expensive drug plus they delivered it direct, the guy that delivered Johns drove all over the country delivering this drug.

I am sure it was down to economics. If John could he would have it again like a shot. I guess if we went private he could probably have it but we cannot afford that sort of money.
