Several years ago, researchers discovered a new form of vitamin E: tocomonenols. So far, it has been found in kiwis, though it's likely present in other whole foods. At this stage, we know relatively little about tocomonoenols.
But, we do know that the chemical structure much resembles tocotrienols--the second most common form of vitamin E.

All the more reason to avoid processed foods and eat more fruits, vegetables, & other whole foods. Surely, they abound with nutrients that have yet to be discovered. |

Interesting! Thank you for sharing it.
One can get distracted for *hours* looking into all the micronutrients and pigments in food. I remember back when vitamin a,c,e,d,calcium, b-complex and protein were thought to be all you needed to be healthy. Now people think you live under a rock if you don't know what a polyphenol is. |

You will be lost in the fractal chaos searching for micro-ingredients.Thats why i suggest everything comes from the air and sun.Because whatever it is in the microcosm it is also in the macrocosm. |

I can't wait to get a VitaMix--so that I can start consuming more of these whole foods...and getting the nutrients therein |

You don't need a Vitamix to enjoy whole foods. I manage quite well with a knife and my trusty Ninja food processor. And I don't really need the Ninja, I just like it.
I've read that the Vitamix is "necessary" to "break down the cell walls" in order to get all of the nutrients from food, always on websites that sell the Vitamix for a commission. IMHO, that is a load of hoohah. Your stomach's acid will make short work of any cellular structures in your food that aren't broken down by your teeth and your saliva.
Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome piece of equipment with a lot of features. If I could afford to spend my rent on a blender, it would be nice to have a Vitamix. But you really don't need one. For smoothies, any high speed blender will do. You might have to blend longer, but it works. |
