I was with a friend today and she had a make-over done at the Laura Mercier counter that was just fabulous. She brough pretty much everything that they put on her and justifiably so. She wasn't happy with anything that she had and rarely wore make-up because of it.
Well, the artist voluntered to us both to come back for any occaision to get done up and sent on our way out looking great. I thought it was a cordial invitation in response to the amount of money that my friend had just spent but there was a girl there waiting to get her make-up done simply due to the fact that she was going out tonight.
My question is: Am I missing something? Am I the only one who DOESN'T do this on a regular basis? I am more than willing to buy products if they put somthing on me that I love (which the ladys at this counter normally do). It's would be like having your own personal make-up artisit. Now if I could just find a stylist? Hmmmmmm........ |

I too feel awkward about doing that. Unless I'm in the market for some new products, I won't ask to have my makeup done. I would feel like I'm taking the sales associate's time and keeping her from the commissions of paying customers.
That reminds me of something that happened last October when I was in a shopping mall in Seattle. It was late afternoon, and the cosmetic counters at every department store were filled with teenage girls getting a professional makeup application prior to their Homecoming dance. I observed for a while and noticed that not one of them (or their mothers) bought anything.
I needed to purchase a lot of things before returning to my island where there are no malls. But I couldn't because the stressed-out sales associates were all busy doing the free makeup applications. I left empty handed and someone missed out on a hefty sales commission!
By the way, I was told that this always happens before a school dance in that city. (Much to the annoyance of those store managers and sales associates!) |

Too funny, I'm the same way. I don't really like all of the attention of the sales associate and then other women staring at me just out of curiosity. Perhaps too being shy doesn't help any.
But like for Alohagirl who needed assistance at the time and couldn't get help, is a bit rediculous but perhaps they aren't aware of what they are doing. They like to use their skills I suppose but on earth could someone ignore "Alohagirl" who I'm sure is naturally beautiful |

I was just talking to a co-worker about this. She says there are girls who go to the make-up counter and get thier hair blown out BEFORE they go out. We're behind guys.
I might try this once before a HOT date or something. Now I'm curious and have to try it. I don't see myself doing this EVERY Saturday night. |

I think we're all naturally beautiful...just sometimes "nature" needs a little enhancing!
(And maybe a little concealer too!) |
