Was just reading about this the other night on RachelZoe's blog. I've used Nivea to seal my face at night for the last several years & also Weleda Wild Rose Cream which is great but would like to keep something on hand that can be used all over, etc. Am tired of mineral oil based products, think they are junk food for the skin. Think I'm gonna go pick it up tomorrow.
If anyone else uses this please post.

Hi Gretchen,

I wasn't that impressed with Egyptian Magic myself. It *looks* like it should be a pretty heavy duty moisturizer, but I felt it really didn't keep the moisture locked in (like mineral oil does.) I feel that the Weleda SkinFood did a slightly better job.

(And then, there is the controversial Ageless Secret & Ageless Secret Gold-- my current-- and perhaps all-time-- favorite for moisturizing! I use them as a serum/ underbase rosehip & pomegranate oils.)

gretchen,

The Egyptian magic has been a staple in my house for ages! I have found it's just as good as the Weleda Skin Food for those dry skin issues! I have never tried it on my whole face, but when my 4 were small and got those chapped cheeks from playing in the snow it did wonders for almost instant relief! I need to check your Zoe link! Smile

I don't like the smell of it (from its smell I can totally believe no fragrance is added) and it did not make any difference to my face. It's very oily itself. But the oil is gone overnight after applying.

It just doesn't look like something I should apply on my face...won't buy it anymore.

It's just the odor of all natural ingredients without added fragrance. Most skin care wouldn't smell particularly nice without them added, but they don't do a thing for your skin unless they are certain essential oils.

ya, I agree. Maybe I was disappointed because I was expecting a "cream", it turned out to be a wax-like product. I should try it first before buying online lol.
do you know the ingredients of it? is it olive oil?

Yep here they are, you may have also gotten one that went off (rancid) I know if I don't use it up after a while it gets harder and waxy so I pitch it and pick up another at my health food store. Question

Olive Oil, Bees Wax, Honey Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, Bee Propolis, and Love.

I would call it more an ointment than a cream really. Smile

I'm an Egyptian Magic user - I wouldn't be without it (it's just one of those handy things) and a tub lasts for ages.

livmaquillage,

I didn't intend to give you the wrong impression, it sounded like the odor was really bad in your initial post. I had one jar in many years of use go off (any oil can) Olive Oil doesn't go rancid quickly at all! You can use the Egyptian Magic anywhere on your body. It's great on any dry patches, bites, irritated skin ect. ect.

That's why I love this forum... I have never even heard of Egyptian Magic. Sounds interesting. My skin gets so chapped in the winter. May have to pick some up.

Smile

What's funny erg is some of these things I stumbled across years ago (pre-Internet) trolling through the myriad of health food stores and co-op's that used to be everywhere! Then I found I just had to have them around, this is definitely one of those "keepers". Smile

My friend recommended it to me as face cream. The jar was sealed and it was my first time use so I don't think it was rancid. I guess I'm just having a lower threshold on the odor that stays on my face all night. Only using it on dry spots is a better idea. thx for sharing!
