Well, I know the lot of you are probably going to really want to take me up on my "slap me" request from my other thread that I posted when I ordered this bad boy from EDS (I rec'd a nice forum discount so it wasn't AS bad - choke).
Anyway, I have used the Nuface a total of 3 times so far and YOWZA does this thing work as advertised! I had a little droopiness that I wanted to address on my lower cheeks and also the depth of my nasolabial lines, which I felt was due to the skin/muscles being a bit loose.
Here is my customary comparison picture that shows a before on left taken recently (within the last week and a half) and today's on the right. You can see significant tightening, even I am very surprised by this, for the two sections I was referring to needing help and my eye area, which is greatly lifted (I am testing SkinCubed, too, but do not credit the lifting to that). Interestingly, you can see that I skipped using my beloved PSF Phyto Lift and my eyelid is doing its normal lazy thing. Gotta love that stuff!
One word of warning, though, the device comes with 2 products to assist with conductivity - 1 is a mist that I prefer and the other is a gel but this goes on rather thick. However, I noticed I am breaking out and believe it is due to the mist ingredients (whichever ones, who knows) so the next time, I am going to use aloe vera gel and see if that works as well. I started washing the mist off after using the Nuface but did not do so the first time so that could be the cause of the reaction. I am going to avoid it just in case, anyway.
Being obsessed with my skin, I have often played around by pulling the skin back and thought that a mini-lift would be in order at some point in the next 5 years. However, with this little magical device, I might be able to forego that for a long time! |

Scally, now you're REALLY killing me! I need to pay my rent, not buy a NuFace!
Everytime you post a pic, I am amazed at how awesome you look! Your lips are looking FANTASTIC and of course the lashes are just plain silly because they're so fabulous!
Please let us know details for your lipcare. They are phenomenal. I know you use DMAE and CPs on them, but HOW? TIA! |
MG, it's the amazing products and the supplements, I think! Thanks so much for your lovely compliments! That must mean it's working, huh? Pay your rent, girl, and then get the Nuface. Wait a minute, aren't you a youngster? Are you sure you need this thing? I recall you mentioning just finishing school - if you're mid-20s, I can't imagine it being necessary just yet.
As for the lips, here's what I do:
Exfoliate w/my normal products (Epidermix II, etc.)
Plump my lips 2x/day with Luscious Lips contraption
Apply DMAE 4% 2x/day
Apply CPs 1x/day in the PM. I use a CP Serum/Super CP Serum mix all over my face and then also put on some Night Eyes Premier after using it on my eyes.
Use my Oxylight 1x/day everywhere and also on my lips to push product in. I also focus on my lips for extra attention when using my Baby Q.
Lastly, I make sure to always wear some type of balm, gloss or lippie so they are always nice and moist! I'm going to be testing out the new lips system so will see how that works with the routine.
I've found that they are filling out nicely of late and assume it's a combination of rebuilding the collagen as well as focused care. |

Scally, you do look unbelievably young. And very pretty too. Even though, I think, you looked very young even before you started the regimen, I can see an even prettier you now (these lashes, lips, my God - don't tell anyone you are a grandmother, you look like you are ready to just start having kids, not grand children).
Please, share (if you do not mind) your complete skin care routine.
TIA,
Lucy. |
Edited to add: thanks, Lucy! I really think that I have stumbled on a really good routine - took a lot of research but it's really coming together so I am one happy lady!
Sure thing! Here is my current skin care routine (does not include other things like eye products, etc.):
AM
· Ice Refining Cleanser w/Epidermix II to scars
· Ice Elements 2MM and/or Blueberry (3x/week)
· BHA 2%/Mandelic acid 15% all over (about 10 drops) - WAIT 30 minutes (If time, or skip)
· Triple C Serum/25% Vitamin C layered (face, neck, chest and hands)
· Ice Elements Acne Serum spot treatment, then Anti-Aging Serum to face/neck (allow to absorb)
· DMAE 4% under jaw and on lips
· Ultra or Clear Emu oil w/Jojoba/HA lightly applied to face and neck
· SPF 55 Shiseido or Sovina Nuance, if sunny and going to be out a lot - I rely on antioxidants (Vitamin C and internal), if not, which is most of the time
PM
· Ice Elements Refining Cleanser (use Clarisonic brush)
· BHA (occasional) - wait 30 minutes
· Ice Elements Acne Serum
· Ice Elements Radiance Soufflé
· Ice Elements Edelweiss Serum to face/neck
· CP Serum/Super CP Serum (8 drops) to face, Night Eyes Premier around eyes, CP Serum on neck/BND on décolletage/Folligen to brows
· Ultra Emu oil w/Jojoba/HA lightly applied to face and neck
Every 1-2 weeks, 35% fruit acid peel from Diana Yvonne
Notes: I do a lot of exfoliation each day and occasion peels. This is a very aggressive routine so should be approached w/caution and is appropriate for thick-skinned, oily individuals; however, everyone is different so listen to your skin for irritation and back off, if it occurs.
Vendors:

-www.dianayvonne.com for the BHA, Mandelic Acid, Exfol-A (retinoid I use occasionally), Triple C, Vitamin C 25%, Copper Peptides

OK Scally, please tell us what supplements you're taking.. |
Brace yourself, lefemme! I follow the Perricone prescription and buy all of my supps from Vitacost (except for MSM, Tangal posted a great, CHEAP source - I will also likely switch to their coral calcium). Right now, this is what I take; it is following the Perricone Prescription (but that is VERY expensive to purchase directly). I got my list from Debbie on the Skincare Board (she is no longer the forum host). It is extensive and I'm sure many will balk at the # of supps but it works and so I continue to follow it. Here it is:
Supplement List
1) NSI Synergy Basic Multivitamin Version 2 (2 capsules)
2) NSI R-lipoic Acid 100 mg
3) NSI Superior Ester C (2 X 500 mg)
4) Life Extension Ascorbyl Palmitate 500 mg
5) NSI Gamma E Tocopherol Complex 200 IU
6) NSI Tocomin Tocotrienols 60 mg
7) NSI L-Carnitine Fumerate (2 X 500 mg)
NSI Acetyl-L-Carnitine (2 X 500 mg)
9) NSI Q-Gel CoQ10 100 mg
10) NSI Glutamine Powder (1500 mg)
11) NSI Borage Oil 300 or 600 mg
13) New Chapter TumericForce 400 mg
14) NSI Mega EFA Capsules (2 per day) or 1 Tbsp. Carlson's fish oil
15) NSI DMAE 100 mg
16) Calcium 1200 mg
MSM for skin remodeling, even though it is not Perricone recommended. Health Juice Cocktail:
Your favorite juice or toss in b'fast smoothie
1 tsp. glutamine (5 grams)
1 tsp. MSM (4000 mg) - you must first work up to this amount, start at 1/2 tsp.
2 tsp. Silica gel
Oz Garcia (Look and Feel Fabulous Forever pg. 263/264 - use for 3 months to see improvement in quality of hair, nails and skin)
I have this book on my wishlist but can confirm that my nails are in the best shape of my life, they do not snap any more when I bang them against something and are really thick now. I've always had good hair and nails but the supps have taken me to a new level of health and well-being. I can point you to the source links for most of the supplements, if anyone is interested. My list is not exactly the same as Deb's but only due to a few different items. |

Doba,
I only used it 4 times, no improvement so far.
I am also using Quasar Sp (3 times) and no improvement either.
I do not feel overly enthusiastic by now, but will continue for 20 or so times with Nuface (we still have time to return, right, Doba?) and same with Quasar.
Lucy. |
Same here, no improvement. Have used the Nuface for at least 2 weeks everyday (didn't write the date I started) and the Quasar SP for at least a month every 3 days and I don't see any changes whatsoever. Very Discouraged If you go back and read some of the posts by others they were getting some kind of results within days. What's up with that? Just doesn't seem fair.
The raves for these 2 items were started in Aug 06 and Nov 06 so it's not like I just now read about them and jumped on the bandwagon. I guess I just wanted to believe that I would be one of the lucky ones that they would work for me. I haven't given up yet but it is in the back of my mind. |

Thanks, everyone! I'm very happy with the progress that started back in August of 2006. It's when I began my skincare revamp journey and things have really improved.
Okay, here's the original Nuface comparison pictures after three uses (before/after) from when I originally started using it:
Regarding my current routine, it's as follows:
AM
-Cleanse with PSF Gentle Castille cleanser & Clarisonic
-Vivier 20% Vitamin C Serum - wait 10 minutes
-True Radiance Vitamin Serum (C, E, etc.)
-True Radiance Golden Serum (spot tightening)
-True Radiance Eye Cream OR PSF Ultra-Hydrating Eye Cream
PM
-Cleanse with PSF Gentle Castille cleanser & Clarisonic
-Retin-A (alternate nights) - wait 30-45 minutes
-Skin Biology CP Serum/Super CP Serum (4 drops each) all over face and neck
-Skin Biology Night Eyes Premier all around eyes and lash line
-Folligen on brows
-JB Toner sprayed all over
-Emu oil patted all over
I occasionally (maybe every 2 months or so) do a dual-layer 15% TCA peel. Every 2 weeks, I use my 1.5mm facial roller, which has been wonderful for smoothing pores and scar repair. CPs working along with this for healing as well as Retin-A, have provided the support needed to achieve progressive skin repair for me.
The area around my eyes is a result of long-term CP use (Night Eyes Premier), occasional exfoliation with LacSal serum (replaced the older Exfol from Skin Biology) and regular hydration. The products that I have consistently used over the course of the last year have been the Night Eyes Premier, Exfol/LacSal and PSF Ultra Hydrating Eye Cream. I've dabbled in a few other eye creams but always revert to PSF. For the last few months, I've been using True Radiance's Eye Cream and continue to do so. It's wonderful for de-puffing but doesn't deliver the hydration of PSF so I often layer them.
Now, for the tools...I use them intermittently. My Quasar SP is great (still love it dearly) and I use it when my face needs a refresher (gives it a wonderful creamy look) so about every 1-2 weeks. The Facemate is great for cleansing and lifting but I use it occasionally, about every 2-3 weeks. My Oxylight is specific for when I want quick depuffing, liven up the glow or to zap a zit (it's great for this). The Nuface I use maybe 3 times a week.
Another tool in my box is the Flex Effect exercise routine. It's wonderful and I advise following the DVD until you learn the techniques. After that, you can fast forward to just run through the exercises and once you're comfortable doing that, then you should be able to follow the ones in the book (also included on the DVD) to expand the routine. This is a great program and really works. I feel that it has been a good addition to the overall plan and feel it complements the Nuface.
Well, that's a quick rundown so I hope it helps. You can see from the recent picture (original I posted) that things just continue to get better. Keep at it, test products for whether they'll work on your skin and take comparison pictures because you'll miss the improvements otherwise and then be off to the next greatest product that won't necessarily be better.
I'll post an updated comparison picture w/out makeup and taken from the same side as the ones here so you can see how things have further improved. |

You're very welcome, Kassy_A. Thanks so much for the nice compliments.
I use the Nuface as follows:
-Put on thin layer of conductive gel
-Use the Nuface following the recommended procedure (3 passes over each sub-area)
-Avoid the orbital and thyroid areas completely
-Rinse and continue w/my routine
Regarding the eye area, you can't use the Nuface anywhere in the orbital round but it can help provide lift from working on the cheeks, which in turn helps the eye area. I also recommend looking into Flex Effect for further assistance with building up the facial muscles. You'll notice a quick pick up in the eyes! |

Hi girls, I just bought the Nuface and wanted to let everyone know about the website I found it on. I bought it at SpaLook and it is on sale for $379 and free 2-day shipping. I then searched for SpaLook coupon codes and found a 15% off code (sorry I can't remember it-but it was easy to find) and I pruchased it for $322! Hope this helps someone! |

Kassy, first make sure that you see a green light on the front showing that the battery is working. If so, you may have too much gel on. Go slowly when moving the Nuface. I notice that I don't feel much when I'm working on my cheeks other than an occasional "ping" near my teeth. On my neck, I only notice a twitch toward the edges and on my forehead, I feel a tingle toward the top.
I didn't feel much, if I had too much gel on so perhaps, that might be the problem. |

I just found a very good instruction video on the skinforlife.com website. It shows the entire procedure for the professional "Diamond Micro Lift" treatment. (For anyone with the Suzanne Somers Face Master, this is perfect because of the two wands).
I see know reason why we can't apply these techniques and principals to the NuFace. I'm definitely going for it...

Now I know you can't use NuFace for the area around your eyes so is there some sort of other microcurrent technologies for the eye area? They say the eyes is a window to our souls and if you have sagging and crows feet, it really doesn't show who you really are as a person. People can pretty much tell your age by the ways your eyes look even if you have firm skin all around your face. I have really dry and sensitive skin so I really have to be careful about what I used constantly by reading labels and making sure everything is hypoallergenic and non-commedogenic. Can anyone help me please? |
I just now saw your post, and would offer the following suggesstions for what they're worth;
1. Your right, the NuFace is not really intended for that area. A good alternative for you might be the "Suzanne Somers Face Master" (sold on http://www.hsn.com for $99.00) I had one, and through it out in the trash, thinking it wasn't working, before I learned that you didn't need to feel as if you were being electrocuted for it to be working. I'm actually considering getting another one just for use in the dreaded droopy eye area..
2. "Derma Wand" is a great tool for lifting and toning the eye area I find. There are several threads here at ED's regarding it..
3. I'm happy with the results I get from "Loreal REVITALIFT Double Eye Lift"...It's a two step process with gel for the upper eye and cream for below the eye.. It also doesn't break the bank at about $16 in CVS or any drugstore. If you want extra moisture alone around the eye area, regular old Olive Oil is an awesome natural moisturizer.
....Kassy |

I couldn't see photos that were posted. Any tips on how I do that??
Thanks!! |
Click on page 15 of this thread to see scalawaggirl's before + after pictures.
NuFace is a micro current device + with daily use will help with tightening the jawline, although, mid-neck treatment is not recommended. You can read all about it and watch an instructional video at the following web site; http://www.nuface.net
Baby Quasar is a LED light used for photorejuvination.. Tons of info can be found on this forum for both these devices as well as others. The "search" feature at the top of the page will give you more results than you can imagine. The website for BQ is http://babyquasar.com
I'm 55 and use the following devices; NuFace, LED + Derma Wand. In my humble opinion, none of them are magic, but with consistent use, you can achieve a nice, smooth, clearer, firmer skin....than you would have without them.

I can't believe I am doing this I am so excited to get my Nuface today. Below are before treatment photos and photos taken 1 hour after. Before photos have blue typing and after red. I swear I can see a difference. Give me your thoughts please. In all photos I have absolutely no creams or makeup on. I am anxious to see results as the weeks go by. Will keep a photo journal for you. You can see my main area of concern are the corners of my mouth. The first before picture is very grainy but you can get an idea. The angle of pictures I tried to duplicate but they are not quite the same. In the before full face I am looking down a tad and the after full face up a little It is hard taking your own picture. I am 63. |

Hey ladies! Winnie - fabulous before and after pictures! Yay for you! I definitely see a difference after one use.
Now, for the uplifting of the corners of the mouth, here's what I do:
Run the Nuface from the bottom of the bottom furrows and go upward. Hold just a little higher than even with the corner of your mouth. Also, run and hold at an angle toward the cheek. This works extremely well for me to provide a nice lift. I'm also focused on the down turned corners and this seems to help. |

Most of the time I use NuFace I feel tingling. The degree of the tingling depends on the what I have on my face at the moment, I never use the conductive gel, just skin care products or regular water. Most of the time I feel that the facial muscles are contracting, especially if I move it on my forehead, somehow the scalp muscles contract quite a bit.
Since it is difficult to use NuFace around the eye area, and not recommended for mouth area, I bought FaceMaster specifically for these areas. It does suit the purpose, since the heads are smaller and not set to a pre-defined distance. I used FaceMaster only once, without little foam things, without conductive gel, and on a higher setting…. and I felt as if I was electrocuted… . In the mirror I could see muscles around the eyes contracting like crazy…. I had to adjust to the lowest setting.
NuFace and FaceMaster can complement each other nicely. NuFace for larger areas of the face and body, and FaceMaster for smaller areas such as around eyes, eyebrows etc. |

Still using my Nuface daily. Occasionally I skip a day but try to be consistent.
I have made a few discoveries using the Nuface. I find I get better results if I use the conductivity gel. Don't ask me why. Any thoughts on this? I tried to call CarolCole Company a few times. I keep getting a voice mail and have not left a message.
I love the Optimizing Mist that came with the Nuface. My problem with the mist is the spray is not fine therefore I find I use too much and hate to waste product. Directions say it can be used throughout the day over makeup. Unless they change the delivery system my makeup would run down my face. Does anyone know of a spritzer with an ultra fine mist that I could transfer this product to?
Just wanted to update everyone on my progress with Nuface. If I stopped using it within a few days I would for sure be back to the same sagging around the mouth. Next week I probably will start FlexEffect facial exercise program. Will keep you updated on what that brings. |

Well, I just asked my local pharmacist about conductive gels and he said that a gel must be a conductive gel to make the microcurrent work properly. You cannot substitute aloe vera gel or anything else. He said conductive gels differ in composition, some are made conductive by ionisation. The bottom line is, if you are using your Nuface or other microcurrent gadget without a conductive gel, you are waisting your time.
Unfortunately, I am still no clearer on what ingredients to use to make a conductive gel at home. However, there are certainly allot cheaper conductive gels around than the Nuface one. HTH. |

Hi everyone! Here's the scoop on using a conductivity gel with NuFace......water is not the best conductor of electricity. Just like ultrasound, a gel is needed to transfer the most current to the muscles and cells. A conductivity gel is necessary for ultimate results and transfer of microcurrent. Water transfers roughly 50% of current compared to 70% transfer with the dermagel. Thanks for asking Winnie! A great weekend to all. Nanci |
Thanks Nanci,
A few more questions please. Some members are wondering if we can use a substitute for the gel. As mentioned in other posts: SKB or Aloe-Vera? Some are using Nuface on their body. The gel could get very costly. I noted a conductivity product on Amazon but don't know what is required for the face. This gets very confusing.

Kassy, why don't you try the el-cheapo microcurrent gadget I bought on Ebay for $30.00. It's not a large outlay to make and you can use it whilst you sort out your Nuface problem. Who knows, you might even like it better - it also comes with an attachment for "pushing" vitamin C into the skin. |

Please feel free to ask me any questions any time at all - that's what I do and I love it!
Using SKB or Aloe Vera Gel is going to work fine as a conductivity gel. I've used SKB with my NuFace but find that I have to reapply the SKB quite frequently for the needed "slip" (I take up to 25 minutes to use my NuFace). LOVE the idea of using SKB with it because of all of its benefits. I like what Keliu's father said about adding sodium chloride or salt since it's the electrolites that make it an effective conductivity product! I would definitely add it to Aloe Vera Gel but doubt that it's necessary to add to SKB (just has to be salt in there)! I'm sure the conductivity gel you found on Ebay would work fine. Hope this helps! |
