Dare I say that the elusive search for the perfect mineral makeup is over? Could I have found my HG? I'm going to be brave and boldly say "YES". It is....drum roll....Lumiere mineral makeup.

You can do a search by my name to find about a bazillion threads I've either posted in or started regarding MMU. I have tried them all, most recently Alima and U Glo Girl...I start out loving them, then my skin goes all whacky - I either break out, or my skin feels dry and tight, I start to get crepy under my eyes, etc etc....It had gotten to the point where I was back on the liquids...(now that reads odd, doesn't it?) But as an avid reader of the MMM board, I gave in to the raves I kept reading about and to the UNBELIEVABLY low pricing of Lumiere. You have to compare other MMU's to understand how reasonable the prices are....so I ordered a crapload of samples from both the VeenaVelvet formulation and the Fairly Flawless. They are both gorgeous and feel like silk going on and they leave you with perfect skin - not matte, not glowy, just creamy, poreless and perfect. You also can barely feel it on and it is buildable. Best of all neither of the formulations make me breakout or, and this is the most important to me, make my skin feel dry. Whoopee!!! The Fairly Flawless is more for normal to dry skin (that is my favorite) and the Veena Velvet is geared for the oilier skin, but you know they are BOTH great - Other terrific things to note?

1. FREE shipping in USA and CANADA - yup, free.
2. A 15% ongoing discount code - type in LF15 to get it off the already super low prices
3. Great build a starter kit options for a very low price
4. Outstanding customer service

I don't think I've seen or used a product that was so finely made at such a great value with such terrific customer service.

If you've all about given up on MMU but are willing to try one more, this is THE one to try! I love it and you might too! Very Happy

ww.lumierecosmetics.com

THe starter kit that is on sale has a free brush that comes with it, and with the 15% off it's about $15 or so with 2 foundations, two blushes, eyeshadow and the brush. good deal, I say.

Just ordered my sampler kit, and can't wait to try it out.

You know, before I started reading posts at EDS, I would not have considered any mineral make-up at all (had a few demos with types that made me glow like an alien and were obviously not the best choice for my larger pores) but, because of all the positive reviews of Lumiere MMU, I'm anxious to give it a try.

Thank you all for digging me out of a foundation rut!

Admittedly, Vonstella, I haven't tried every one on the face of the earth, so I'll describe my results with the four I used before going back to liquid foundation.

Pur Minerals, an offering from the Canadian Shopping Channel, in loose and compact form. In terms of making me look most like a clown, Pur Minerals is the hands-down winner. If anyone remembers what "frosted" lipstick looks like, delight yourself by imagining that heavy pearlized effect all over my face, eyes and lips. It was impossible to tone down with finishing powder, illuminating every possible flaw and laughing and pointing fingers at each and every pore. I swear that stuff must be 90% mica, and yet it sells out almost every time it's offered. I just can't understand it -- who could it possibly look good on? Even the rep who flogs it on TV has that glow-in-the-dark look about her on camera. I snort every time I see her.

Sheer Cover, in loose form. This was marginally better than Pur Minerals but still was not the panacea it's held out to be, making every woman's skin look beautiful and natural. It contains less reflective material but still managed to make my skin texture look worse than it was. I also can't understand how it's supposed to provide enough coverage to cover a port wine stain because it couldn't even cover broken caps on my cheek. However, if you've got good skin to begin with, this would probably be a fine choice.

Jane Iredale, in loose and compact form. Again, miles ahead of Pur Minerals and more flattering than Sheer Cover. I found the mostly matte compact formula seemed to make my pores look less obvious than did the loose, and it's handy in a pinch (my derm's MU artist dusts me with it to tone down botox pinpricks right afterward) but I would not consider it good enough to purchase for everyday wear.

Cover FX, in compact and the new powder in a bottle. The bottled powder was on a par with the JI compact: no pearly look, but no fireworks, either. The absolute best of this line, IMO, is the compact, applied with kabuki brush. It most closely approached the velvety, smooth, creamy and sensuous look that Revlon long-wearing liquid gives me and, of the four MMUs I've tried, this one looked the best at the end of the day. I still had to blot occasionally and the dang nose pores still showed a bit, but this one I'd actually part with my money for.

Belatedly, I should add that, under each of these MMUs, I used a very moisturizing sunscreen and a primer, and a setting powder and setting mist on top.

I'm hoping that Lumiere will blow all of these out of the water and will report back once I receive my sample kit.
