Yahoo!! I've been waiting and waiting for Candy's Lip Service Lip Treatment to be ready! I wasn't comfortable buying L2K because I feel strongly about knowing what I'm putting in and on my body. And anyway, I have lipstick I adore, and with Candy's product you can use other products. I was almost going to breakdown and but the L2K and I emailed a question to Kandis, but she never responded. So it all worked out! |

Bkk girl, you can PM me and I can give you some ideas or at least link you to the appropriate site. I was curious do to the price and decided to look up those that I wasn't familiar with. If you're lips are sensitive you might have trouble with the Matrixyl 3000 on your lips.
ETA. One of the peptides listed I believe was matrixyl 3000. Basing this on the fact I had some issues with Matrixyl 3000 when I used it on MY lips and I don't tend to be reactive.

I'm confuzeled. I think Matrixyl 3000 is a great product - I use it twice a day in spot treatments. However, when I used it ON my lips I had some burning and discomfort. AFTER I quit the m3000 the burning ceased. I'm not sure of amounts and perhaps the Lip Service amount of peptides isn't much versus the product I was using. Which could make a difference. Someone with more knowledge would obviously know more. If I remember correctly the first three ingredients were more "glossy" type of products. Ack. Can't remember. Will need to double check.
Of course her prices are good. Did anyone say differently?

No, it wasn't mint. In fact, it wasn't a lip plumping product at all. I don't like the plumping one gets with the irritant based lip plumpers. I guess my point, which obviously wasn't made clear, was that bkk had noted she had sensitive lips and let's face it, skin tissue and lip tissue are not quite the same animal.

Didn't mean to infer you said her prices were bad, I personally am greatful for her prices, I can order more!!! Matrix 3000 should NOT burn, it might numb ur lips for a wee bit of time, under a minute, but not burn, they might of had an irritant to swell the lips in the product you tried, like a mint (pepperment, ect) which would def create burning.
|
So I went to Candy's site and checked out her ingredients for this lip treatment:
Quote: |
Lip Service lip treatment: Versagel ME 750, Crodamol STS, Glycerin (and) Water (and) Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tribehenin, Sorbitan Isostearate (and) Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, DMAE, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E Natural, LiquaPar® Oil, flavoring, mica |
Hi Cherisse,
For ingredients, I can already see that butylene glycol is high on the ingredients list and is petroleum derived. This is an ingredient I try my best to avoid in everything (except my vitamin C serum at the moment, but i can't find a better replacement, stuck between a rock and a hard place for that one ) much less stuff used on my lips and wouldn't personally use this product.
1) butylene glycol - petroleum derived emollient that is also used to enhance preservatives
2) carbomer - thickener
3) polysorbate 20 - emulsifier (allows water and oil to stay mixed without separation)
4) glycerin - natural humectant
I don't know a lot of the other ingredients, but butylene glycol bugs me personally.
I think it's ok for us to be lazy by the way. I ask stuff all the time that i can google myself. It just might be easier for someone with that type of knowledge in their head to type stuff out and give me their take on it too. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Hi Kristen,
Thank you so much for this post. You're so sweet to post this for me and other members to have access to as well. Bluesheart also gave me similar info via PM, but I think this is great so that for other members who want to know also, they'll be able to understand the ingredients better.
Interestingly enough my lips are ok with the Vaseline lip balm, so I have to guess that petroleum is not the culprit. But Vaseline lip balm dries out my lips, and I have to keep reapplying. I have been experimenting with applying pure oil like emu, argan, camellia, squalane, and lastly macadamia nut oil. It's all been ok.
I have also just received a sample of Carrie's lush lip overnight treatment. I tried that and I was happy to note that my lips aren't allergic to it. So I got brave and tried her Dolce Vita, too, today. I don't have an allergic reaction yet, so I think this one is a green light as well. I'll have to search EDS or email Carrie and ask her what the ingredients are b/c then I would know what I'm not allergic to.
While I am sure Candy's lip treatment is a wonderful product, I guess I should not try it yet until I find out more about what's causing the allergic reaction. I'm probably better off trying something with only a few ingredients in it. Either that or make my own lip balm. (I guess I have to look through the DIY forum for lip balm recipe now. hehe)
Thanks again, Kristen, for your help. I really appreciate it.

Cherisse,
CareKate's lip products contain orange peel wax. I guess your lips aren't allergic to all kinds of wax then? That's cool. |
