Hi BCgirl! I came across an interesting article that I think you should read, as it may help you to determine if your symptoms align with ulcers. My mother suffered through two duodenal ulcers when she was a kid and went through hell trying to recover from them. No one knew at that time (1950) that the primary cause of ulcers is from H. pylori bacterium. If you truly have an ulcer developing or are infected with H. pylori, there are generally some specific signs & symptoms associated. Read through the article below as it should help you determine if your symptoms are the same or similar.

Personally, I would not jump onto the anti-biotic band-wagon until I explored the situation a little deeper. It sounds as if your GP is taking the easy way out and not being as thorough as he can be. This is not to say that the antibiotics he prescribed won't help, I would just want to be certain why he is prescribing them if you aren't showing positive for any bacterial infection in your system. I believe there is a blood test for H. pylori, in addition to the breathe test. Call his office up and ask if you can have the blood test, just so you can be certain. I would be very upset if I went through one round of antibiotics only to discover they didn't work and I have to endure ANOTHER more intensive round. The treatment plan for H. pylori bacteria is a three-pronged approach (as Guapa mentioned). So if I were you, I'd want to ensure what Plan B is if the antibiotics he just prescribed don't work. I would hate to think you might have to endure this round of anti-biotics on top of THREE more should this alone not heal the problem.
I am also a big fan of treating any type of bacterial condition with Wild Mediterranean Oil of Oregano. If you do have something bacterial in nature that is causing your problem, it sounds as if you would benefit from the capsules in addition to several drops of oil taken under your tongue each day. You would be amazed at how effective this natural remedy is, I still can't get over how awesome this stuff is and that I've been living all these years without it! If you do a google search, you'll also come across many reports that say Oil of Oregano is very effective in fighting against H. pylori bacterium. I have not suffered from this from of baterial infection, but did recently come down with an 'almost' horrific respiratory infection around a month ago. In the past, I would have been forced to get a prescription for a heavy-duty round of antibiotics to recover properly. Knowing that anti-biotics were a viable option, I decided to try Oil of Oregano to see what would happen first. Though I felt ill in varying degrees for several days, the infection was relatively minor and didn't develop into a full-scale condition. It's as if everything suddenly halted, for lack of a better description. I was thrilled that I overcame whatever I had without anti-biotics, however, the only thing I would do differently next time is to augment the drops of oil with the capsules. I feel certain this would have increased the healing up even more. If you are interested in trying Oil of Oregano, call a large health food store in your area and ask them if they have both the oil and capsules in stock. Just be certain to take the Oil of Oregano (oil) with food, as it is very strong and can cause heartburn for some. The capsules do not cause heartburn as they are delivered into your GI tract and by-pass your stomach.

The P73 oil of oregano blend has also been shown to kill the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterium, which is known to be a causal factor in up to 90 percent of duodenal ulcers and 80 percent of stomach (gastric) ulcers. A small clinical trial initiated in 2003 demonstrated that the P73 oil of oregano blend showed positive results in patients with stomach and duodenal ulcers |
I hope you feel better soon!!!! ![wave](images/smiles/039.gif) |
