My skin is pretty clear right now, except for lingering, annoying blemish that is leftover from an unfortunate encounter with Lumiere MMU (totally clogged my pores!). It came to a head today and I wanted to extract it, however, I have an important dinner tomorrow and I can't afford for my whole face to be swollen because of an extraction gone wrong, so I called my Aesthetician and asked her for advice to ensure a smooth extraction. (I have a really awesome aesthetician!) Anyways, her advice was to brew 2 cups of strong chamomile tea--- 1 cup to drink, and 1 cup to use for compresses. Using a clean washcloth, dip it into the hot chamomile tea and and use it as a compress on your blemish, refreshing the washcloth as needed over the course of 20-30 minutes. According to my aesthetician, chamomile has very strong anti-inflammatory properties, so the heat opens the pore to ensure a smooth extraction, while the chamomile keeps swelling to an absolute minimum. I have to say that this was great advice--- I extracted my blemish after 30 minutes with no problem, and the swelling was definitely kept to a minimum.
Quick tip: Luckily, I had Zhena's Gypsy Tea in Chamomile Blessings on hand. Not only does this tea contain organic egyptian chamomile, but it also contains organic lavender. So, it's not only good for swelling--- it's also good for disinfecting and healing. You can buy this tea at Kate's Caring Gifts, and if you remember to use the code EDS you will get a 20% discount! Also, if you use the link below (cut n paste instead of clicking to make sure it works correctly), 10% of your purchase price will go to help rescue stray kitties at Winging Cat Rescue. Every little bit helps, right?

Needless to say, I'll definitely be calling my aesthetician tomorrow to say a big "Thank you!"^-^ |
