Knowing that dull teeth are an age giveaway, I decided that skin care is not enough. So recently I bought Sally Hansen's Smile Brightening Lip Treatment.
The packaging was several times larger than the product and featured before and after photos of a smiling mouth. The difference looked obvious but realistic.
The claim printed boldly on the front stated 'lip gloss makes teeth look whiter instantly', 'special color (sic) pigments counteract yellow', 'teeth look whiter guaranteed', 'hydrates and conditions lips'.
Ingredients inlcude optical brightening pearls, borage, cornflower extract, botanicals, vitamins A C & E, pleasant vanilla mint to freshen breath.
I bought a strong red shade called brilliant - and could not be more disappointed!
I think we have all used some lip colour that makes our teeth seem whiter or yellower at times, so I know that this is possible to do. However, this did NOTHING. In fact I almost thought I looked yellower. I normally associate the Sally Hansen brand with reliable products that do what they say, and bought the product on brand reputation.
The gloss did not apply with the same depth of colour as the photo and I think that is one of their primary errors.
The pics looked dense like lipstick. Being gloss, in reality, this looked more "watery" and the strength of colour did not take long to wear off (although the sticky sensation remained).
As for the minty breathe! I don't know how to describe the smell - except not minty, not pleasant, and far too overpowering to have sitting under your nose!
Heavens know why the did this as a gloss rather than a lipstick - as it appeared to look in the pic. Also, looking closely at the bottom of the pack I later noticed 'photographic simulation individual results will vary'.
Conclusion, product does not work, should not have been in gloss form, overpowering smell, packaging is misleading in words and graphics.
This is going straight to the back of the drawer.
Price AUD$15. |
