I had my cheeks injected with one of the newer thicker fillers (sorry, can't remember the name) just before I went away at Christmas time. The cost was AUD$1,800 (ridiculous!) and it was supposed to last over 12 months. It lasted for TWO. During this time, I was overseas and was not doing any exercises or using any gadgets.
Of course, when I returned home I went back to the clinic and complained. The nurse said that she'd try another filler on me for free - one that had an in-built anesthetic (Juvederm, I think). That was only about a month ago. I must admit that I did initially like the effect, it gave my face a more perky look.
Kassy - one note of warning. When they show you the before and after photos, they don't tell you how much that particular patient got injected to get the really full cheek look. I had 1ml in each cheek and think I could have done with three times that amount - which there is no way I could afford. So what I'm saying is - I think you need allot of product to get a lifting effect. The bottom line is - if it was less expensive I would probably get it done again but, for me, it was a one off that I can't afford to repeat.
BTW, I've heard of cheeks being filled from inside of the mouth but at the moment I don't think that it's that common a practice in Oz. So I had mine done from the outside - I think the from the mouth approach would probably give a much better result.
I honestly think that fillers are the skin-care of the future BUT, at the moment they are too expensive and don't last long enough. |

hi kassy it was £1000 and wasnt painful but he used a lot of dental block which he injected into the inside of my mouth and my cheeks
my cheeks were painful for a few days after but only mildly but now they feel fine
i still want to carry on with the exercises as they lift the rest of my face like my eyes so i dont have to use botox and give more fullness to the face but at least now im not doing the cheeks i will save some time! |

Let's help each other as women.
please post pictures (if you can) Kelieu. So much of our time is wondering if it is worth it. You are a beautiful woman no matter your age Keliu. Let's start to post pics to help one another. (YES I have to get a camera so I am able to post but still, I really believe in this). One woman's disappointment at 0.15mm is another woman's treasure/pleasure |
I just have to chime in on this with my 2 cents.. And it's meant as a generalized statement for all to ponder.
#1. The majority of members, who ask other's to post pictures, have never posted one themselves. Some of those who yell the loudest for other's to post pictures, don't even share the most basic info of themselves.. ie; signature line.
#2. When someone does get brave enough to be generous enough to share, how about showing some appreciation.. Like acknowledging it, asking questions, even a "thank you" would be nice. It's hurtful to those who go out of their way to share pictures, to realize hundreds of people have viewed them, and nobody gave enough of a sheetay to even offer a word of thanks.
#3. The last thing I'd suggest is not to be so judgemental of either the results the photos represent, or the photos themselves.. Sure, some people perhaps are not genuine, and resort to photoshop or what have you, but it's usually apparent, and is probably best just to enjoy a private snicker on your own. For those who share the real deal, it will be just as apparrent, so be appreciative of that, so more members might feel comfortable enough to join in..
Like I said, just my 2 cents worth. |

Well, I had the Voluma put in my cheeks last Friday. There were two doctors and two nurses present, all staring at my face and discussing its inadequacies - very intimidating.
A doctor from the company who produces Voluma (Allergan), did the injecting - she seemed very experienced and went jabbering on about how success was based on artistic input.
She used a catheter to inject the Voluma, because it's so thick. She put 2ml in each cheek - I've only ever had 1ml put in before. Pain and suffering was very minimal. She said that I'll be swollen for a couple of days, and at this point, 4 days after, I think my face is still a little bit puffy.
Result: Not too impressed actually - for all the talk about expertise and artistic input, I think my cheeks are uneven. I have to go back in two weeks for a checkup, so they'll probably fix it then but it's supposed to take one month to settle down. Plus, there's not an enormous amount of difference. I'm being really brave and showing you my mugshots. Probably should have made them bigger - but, hey, I'm not that stupid!

Snowqueen - I'd really like to know about your great bruise treatment. I bruise very easily. TIA. |
Well...it might sound odd..but I had a really BLACK bruise once and knowing that I had already tried evrything known to man to treat them, I decided like all good EDS girls to experiment. I knew that to clear the bruise that you need to increase blood flow through the area to clear the bruise. So I applied arnica and then (wait for it) Vicks Vapourub and started gently massaging...enough to warm the area but not enough to bruise it further. A really superficial skin massage in little circles. I did this for about 20 mins or so and I could see the bruise lightening. I repeated 2 hours later and the bruise has gone from jet black to yellow. In the morning it was gone.
I have since done this 4 or 5 times and has always worked.
Please note that I would NOT do this on day 1 when you would risk spreading the bruise. Also those with sensitive skin the vick could burn I guess????
Hope this helps
