Ok, I know, I'm not supposed to apply retin-a around the eyes. But there are wrinkles there. Also, I received my tubes from ADC a few days ago, and I started with the Retino-a, 0.025, and after 2 nights of use, nothing. No redness, no itching, no flaking, burning...nothing. Wondering if I got a bad lot. Not tried the .025 gel yet, or the 0.05 of the creme or gel (I got 7 tubes, differing strengths, wanting to make the best of the shipping charge. Got Careprost, too.)so anyway, I just dabbed a bit closer to my lower lid. Fine. What's a girl gotta do to get redness and irritation around here, dangit!?
So, I come out of the bathroom, fresh tretinoin on my face, and sit at the computer and watch an old Budweiser ad. Not Bud Lite, Budweiser.

Eliminate the spaces, and put in the triple W dot. I can't post links.
I'm a sentimental person. It doesn't take much to make me say "AAWWWW, ain't that sweet". The tiny tear my left eye made had my crow's feet burning.
Do NOT apply retin-a prior to watching an old Bud ad. |

but in fact I think that Retin works better without moisturiser. Retin A is not for skin care - it is treatment |
Exactly. Most of us old schooler's do not believe in using a moisturizer after Retin A. It is usually recommended to just use your moisturizer in the morning. As far as an AHA, you won't need it daily, as the Retin A is also exfoliating your skin. |

Skippie,
That's my understanding as well, it's one active that penetrates on it's own. I thought applying to wet skin was a no no and a reason for waiting?

The wet skin no-no is because applying RA that way tends to make many have more side effects from the RA. |

I've done this as well -- applied retin a right after washing my face and what I got over the next few days was a lot of peeling. Not just flakiness, but skin that just peeled right off! Which is not necessarily a bad thing. It just made my make-up look bad.
P.S. I get a little teary at some of the older commercials, as well. One of my all time favorites is the Coke commercial from the 1970's -- "I'd like to teach the world to sing..." Takes me back .. way back! However, if tears and retin a mixed together work in the fight against wrinkle, bring on all the sentimental commercials! ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |

Oh, Claudia, I never was talking about beer, I was talking about the sappy commercial about a baby clydesdale that made me go "Awww, bless his lil' heart". And I'm gonna have to go back to youtube and look up old Kodak and Hallmark ads. And kims, yes, I too would like to buy the world a coke and furnish it with love, grow apple trees and honey bees and snow-white turtledoves.
Jom, tell me more. What's the name of the product you're using before your RA? You say it's like a toner, so I assume it's a liquid applied with a cotton ball. I have L'Oreal Hydrafresh Toner that claims Beta-Hydroxy, is that similar? Also, how long have you been on RA therapy and followed this routine, and how long after starting did you notice your positive results? Me needs to know! |

1) Unless you have a skin (acne) condition that you are aggressively going after, I personally have never seen any reason to drag your face through the mud. Retin-A is scientifically proven to work... I would allow it to do so slowly... Unless you're really ok with a chapped face...

Not everyone gets a chapped face, Claudia. Some of us never have any side effects from Retin A. |

Actually, I am applying close to the eyes, very little, but I do press it in well. And no sliding, it's massaged in too well for that. No problems, except for that small tear I mentioned in my 1st post. And the new wrinkles, they're a tiny bit further down, top of the cheekbone. As I understand it, new wrinkles are expected temporarily, isn't that right? They go away with continues use of the RA? I haven't been fretting about it, I just ease up on my use of powder, which accentuates it. Shiny is better than wrinkly! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |
