I have had my trials with facial exercise and own Carole Maggio, Ageless and flex Effect. After experiening looser skin, new lines, and big muscles where they weren't meant to be I quit it all about a year ago. My skincare is doing wonders but the parenthesis and beginings of nasolabial lines was annoying me. I also developed a dimple when I smiled which I was told by a derm was from the muscle dropping from my cheek. I don't want to build or restore lost volume - I'm only 30 - I just want my skin firmer and this muscle to go back to where it should be.

I went on a search again and looked at Eva Frasers testimonials. One thing I noticed is every single one of them had great skin and toned faces but they ALL had really bad nasolabial folds. Even one girl who seemed young. I immediately decided to leave it. There was one sample exercise on her website though called the instant facelift which I tried and actually liked on its own. I've been doing nothing but that one exercise and WOW!! My parenthesis are pulling out and my apples of my cheeks are lifting up. There are no lines on your skin when you do the exercise and no tugging or pulling at your skin!! I think I've found a gentle exercise that does what I want and takes me no more than 3 minutes a day. I am sore the next day from it especially in the apple of my cheeks and my neck and jawline and next to my ears!!

Thought I would share for anyone else who's scared of facial exercises!! I don't have that little niggling fear that I'm destroying my face when I do this - I always felt that way with the others. Here's hoping it keeps working!!

Hi TT

I’m sorry to read of your problems, but believe me when I say that your conclusion that people in their twenties will have issues is incorrect – as I’ve seen firsthand many many instances where facial exercises have been of great assistance and help to people in their 20’s. I’ve been a trainer of FlexEffect for some time now, and can honestly report I’ve many clients in their 20’s who do facial exercise who have been more than happy with their progress. I suspect that with the weight loss, it really depends how much weight was lost and by what methods, as weight loss generally can impact a variety of factors in the face (such as hormones, lifestyle etc not to mention if its been lost through crash dieting, that can really mess up the body’s internal systems). A 20 year old won’t have to do with all the damage or from the starting point as say a 60 year old, so their goals are quite different and sometimes that just means that you need to alternate the training by using a couple of methods.

FE is an aggressive program, but its also one that you will have had access to a forum where you could get advice from myself or one of the many other trainers, and that’s really what I would have advised you to do at the time, because often you just need to dig a little to work out what the body’s dealing with, or finding challenging, and its not always a good idea to do facial exercises in every instance. Sometimes if weightloss has been a factor, its best not to do exercise till the body is back in balance and harmony. Also I don’t know if you did both programs at the same time (its been known to happen) and that of course can overwork things.

Pulling the skin isn’t bad for it, per se, if the body is fit and healthy, but if its challenged or hasn’t been provided with the necessary nutrients it needs to be healthy, then the individuals body will be hindered somewhat, and the skin is always the last concern of the body (provided its able to carry out its primary functions of both protection from external things like bacteria, but also elimination of toxins) and its also the furthermost layer of the body so it takes time to remodel and heal the skin.

I came across this thread trying to find people experiencing negative results after doing facial exercises. I'm only 27 years old. I tried FE and Ageless after losing some weight, nothing drastic, but my face wasn't taking it very well.

At the moment the skin all over my face is looking extremely bad, I can see where I have pulled the skin while doing the exercises, and the skin has become saggy not only under the eye (where it's wrinkly also), but also my cheeks are sagging and I can now actually pull the skin out of my face quite easily whereas before it was quite tight against my flesh. It's like I've aged 10 years in only about 2-3 months, it's shocking. I always moisturize my skin and cool/warm if needed.

I can't recommend any of these exercises to people in their twenties. I can't emphasize that enough. It really seems to be younger people having issues with facial exercises, at least programs like Ageless of FE.
