USA=ABSURD MARKUP ON MEDS!
The Government allows the drug companies to get away with murder. |
Yep that is why this country needs health care reform. We cannot afford to spend so much on healthcare. Greg |

Divine Diva - I'm in Oz too, and the most I've ever paid for RA is around $30.00 - so you're being ripped off. But I actually buy ALL of my meds on line now, it's so much cheaper.
I also have private health insurance - but sometimes I think it's a waste of money. If you're seriously ill, you usually end up in a public hospital anyway because that's where the best expertise is. I hate the way the government has eroded the original Medicare system which the Labour Government introduced.
However, my parents (who both passed away last year) had no medical insurance and they were looked after like a king and queen. Our Australian system does have allot of problems - but at least we're better off than those in the US.
ETA: This week I had to have a CT scan of my jaw - it was bulk billed and cost me nothing. So thank heavens for our system! |

The prices of Retin A and any prescription drug overseas is cheaper because the research and development costs are paid for by the U.S. insurance companies and us. Other companies don't pay those fees. I've bought retin A in Greece for $2.00 US.
We are the developers and we have big overhead. Our CEO's of big Pharma get paid big bucks by the US. Why do you think our healthcare dollars are out of sight? |
This isn't true. A generic does not have any R&D included. Also drug companies are international. Johnson and Johnson is an international company. It doesn't matter whether they are made in india or the USA. The difference is just availabilty under the law of the country. Greg
