The first time I got it was from a general practioner ... most recently, I got triluma from my ent md who also is board certified to do restalyne, etc.
You don't really have to go to a specialist. If you have a good enough rapport with your primary physician, he or she can rx it for you. |

My derm wrote my first, then my GP. I think even my gyn has! Actually any doctor can write a prescription for just about anything!
Speaking of Retin A, I have used it for acne and my insurance will not cover it because I'm "over a certain age"!!!!
They don't think older gals can have acne and wrinkles.
They don't read this forum!!! |

Yup, they really cut me off! I had to purchase a tiny tube for full retail which is over 100.00 and I was really using it for acne, not wrinkles.
Great idea about tazorac. I didn't think of that! I'm calling my doctor tomorrow! |

careful if they don't pay for taz -- it's $350 (but for a huuuge tube so I guess it's not that bad) |

My Derm did. My GYN wanted to just give me an RX for birth control to help control my acne. First of all, I don't need to be on birth control, secondly it really messes with my body and thirdly why would I want to take it, never worked for my skin before (been on many) just makes my skin worse and my moods crazy.). What is the age cut off for insurance? That is crazy..has the insurance industry heard of "adult acne". I have a friend who is 56 years old and her insurance. Blue Shield, still covers her. |

Hi, I am a state employee and am (in a few weeks) going to be 53. Oh my I can't believe I just wrote that
I don't think insurance companies want to believe in "adult acne" although from everything I have read, it seems to be a major concern of aging women. |

What is an "in house pharmacy"? No RX? I have an RX, and my insurance covers it. I just pay the copay of $35. I would be curious as the cost from "in hose pharm.", just don't know what that is. Can someone explain? Thanks |

I got my first script for RAM from my Derm's PA. I now order from overseas and don't ues a doctor's script. Not one of the doctors I've talked to over the years reccommended Differin and it's blackheads I have such a problem with. I found out about it from a beauty board
BTW I'll be 60 on my next birthday and have far more blackheads than wrinkles yet, my ins. company will not pay for it.
FYI I've used inhousepharmacy several times over the years and been VERY happy with their service. |

I've been buying mine from inhousepharmacy too and have had no problems with buying it from there so far. The expiry dates are always years ahead too. |

My GP, the dermatologist has you out of the office so fast there's no time for him to pause to write a silly old perscription |
