Hi,
Can anyone recommend a physical sunblock for sensitive, acne prone and oily skin. Preferablly within price range of 20-30 Cnd... and can be found at drug stores (at lease easily found-- not online).
I know that's a tought one but thanks in advance.
cheers

Hey moo,
I recommend La Roche Posay sunblock
you can get it from Shopper's Drug Mart.

I second that. La Roche Posay is excellent, except that they are chemical sunscreens. They will most likely break you out as most of them are fairly oily. I would suggest the Avene physical SPF 50 instead. You can also get it at Shoppers. |

Or you can try Eucerin Extra Protective Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30. It contains micronized zinc and titanium. I get it at drugstores for $6-$8 US dollars and have used it for years, while experimenting with other brands that so far haven't measured up. It doesn't irritate my skin/eyes like some others, and isn't as greasy as, say, Neutrogena *supposedly* matte sunscreen.
BTW, you may be on the right track in wanting to use a product with zinc -- it reportedly helps skin heal. |

I would recommend Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock Lotion SPF 30. It contains titanium dioxide and no chemical sunblocks. It is approximately $12 at a drugstore. |

Eucerin is a physical and chemical sunscreen, it's not just physical.

Although you did say you don't want to buy it online, I still think Devita is the best choice. If you get the body one, you get a really good price for the amount you get too. |

physical sunscreens use titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as active ingredients. All others are chemical ss.
juice beauty tinted moisturizer contains titanium dioxide as an active ingredient so it is a physical ss. |

I agree, it is not a physical sunblock. It actually broke my skin out |

nope
as far as I know, you need to wait 30 min only with chemical ss so they get time to be absorbed. |

I really like Natural Instinct sunblock. It is sold in Australia, not in US. I live in US, and ordered it from Australian distributor. It contains micronized zinc oxide. One of the best physical sunblocks I have ever used. It is not expensive, even with shipping cost. |

Isn't the micronized zinc bad for you? I thought I should look for non-micronized zinc. |

Non-micronized zinc sunblocks have strong white cast at higher zinc oxide concentrations, up to the point that it is embarrassing to wear in public. My last experience of such sort was with SPF30 by 302 line. I had to wash my face immediately after applying this sunblock, so much of white cast. |

There's absolutely nothing bad about micronized zinc. |

I swear by Skinceuticals UV Physical Defense. It is micronized zinc and titanium and cosmetically very elegant. It feels like a very clean product. On the Skin Deep safety database, it rates a 3, which is very low for a sunscreen or decent cosmetic product in general..... |
