Trading Up by Candace Bushnell.
She's the author that wrote Sex and The City!
The book was great. It was reminiscent of all of her books. Set in NYC, tracking a few women and their hectic lives. It was such a quick read I really couldn't put it down. Sassy and Bold! |

Oh God I just read 3 good books in the past week .. this is what I do when the weather turns cold, I stick my nose in a book until Spring. Anyway, Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz was FANTASTIC ... totally bizarre and intriguing throughout .. I can't wait to read the next in the series. Also, Chill Factor by Sandra Brown, a pretty good suspenseful book about a series of missing women in a small mountain town, and I just finished Promise Me by Harlen Coben, the 8th (I think) in a series of books about a private detective named Myron Bolitar .. I didn't read the others but you don't really have to .. I liked it though so I'll start with the 1st.
The best was Odd Thomas though |

Have just finished reading Margaret Attwood's The Blind Assassin. It was a little difficult to get into at the beginning, but once I did I loved it. One of the best books I read in a long time. |

I wanted to share this with you all. I am reading this book "The Help" it takes place in the 60's and is about the civil rights movement in the south.
If any of you grew up in the 60's, it is a different look at how people saw this movement evolve.
It is a wonderful read and made me think about that time of my life in a different perspective.
I knew it was happening, but was not aware of the enormity of it all.
I recommend this. |

The Chill Factor by Sandra Brown looks good! I should look into that. Thanks

Oh that's too funny skincare - I'm in my "french phase" of reading. I am reading "French Women Don't Get Fat" and just finished Parisian Chic - it just came out! and I tore through it. Last month I read Entre Nous - A woman's Guide to Finding her Inner French Girl - Recommended to me is "Paris Times Eight; finding myself in the City of Dreams"...
My grandfather is French - and his sisters (now deceased) were all Tres chic in their dress and decorum. It fascinated me as a child. I loved the way they spoke; so confident and dry wit... and loved to rule the kitchen. |

That is so funny! I've read those books also a few years ago. I found it to reflect the European women in general. My husband is the opposite, he has a huge wardrobe, hold on to old hobbies. As a Canadian, it is certainly expensive to purchase good quality clothes. My last purchase of understated quality dress was about $450. I would hate to know what the price is like in Europe and I know for sure in the U.S.A., the price is a lot cheaper.
Is there any other books you suggest I read? |

I'm reading a book called Elisha's Bones. The story sort of drags and it is taking me awhile to read it. |

May I shamelessly plug my link to Paperback Swap... A GREAT way to trade books. THE BEST EVER REALLY!!!! You list the books you're willing to get rid of... you'll get a free credit just for that!!! THEN you use that credit to BUY a book. The current owner sends it to you (they pay the media mail). Then when someone selects your book, they PAY you with a credit, and you mail it media mail. Usually $2.70ish. I've gotten rid of most the books I couldn't give a rip about. And brought in so many wonderful books. I even buy books I'm not interested in at garage sales. 10 for a $1.00,or free cycle and list them.

If you sign up through my link, I'll get a credit... if that bugs you, just sign up on your own without my link... IT'S THAT AWESOME!!! |

Having a paperback trade is an excellent idea and a great way to bring the community together. I love those type of book trading stores or if you go to a laundry mat, they have something there where you can lend & borrow system. |

That is a good idea!
I got eReader and I find that I am saving space in my home. I think I like the idea that no one knows what I'm reading or what books I read when they are sitting on the shelving unit. |

The Shwarzbein Principle by Diana Shwarzbein. It's pretty good for a nutrition book.
I have a French book--- How To Be Impossibly French by Helena Frith Powell. She also wrote a book about anti aging, To Hell in High Heels. A Brit, she has a nice sense of humor. |

I totally agree that "The Help" is an excellent book! The movie version is coming out very soon (not sure exactly when.)
ETA: Currently reading "Shades of Gray" by Ruta Sepetys. It is set in 1941 Lithuania right after being annexed by the Soviet Union. |

^^ Yes! Im reading that too! And doing it!
Im also trying to get into "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" cuz I loved the Millennium Trilogy movies. The book is boring at first, drags thru the opening. All the financial bigwig stuff bores me to tears. Cant wait for Lisbeth to enter! |

I highly recommend the Hunger Games trilogy. The book jacket descriptions don't do them justice. I'm almost finished with the second one and it is very good. |

I started reading the first in the series last night. (All 3 books are included in amazon.co.uk's summer sale.)
I'm finding it excellent and really absorbing so far. |
