Hi Candy-

maybe it is not actual plumping but the look of it from the dewiness. I have an under eye treatment from Arcona with some LQ in it and I do like the effect. I think it more of a cosmetic thing then. So you feel the stuff from SA is not that usable?

Is the seakelp bioferment safe for the eyes? Cause if that's the question, the answer is yes. I used it as the base for my eye potion and I know hannah uses it in her eye bright formulation, although she mixes it with their canvas cream for a rich cream (the seakelp tends to turn stuff into a thick serum).

It's a fantastic base for actives if you have skin that tends to the oily side. If not, use it as a percentage along with a basic cream.

You bought the gallon...jeeez I bought the 8 oz. because my 15-year-old now wants her hair to grow faster...drives me crazy spending $40 at a hairdresser for one of those "pretend I was here haircuts" Rolling Eyes I thought I bought a lot. Do we all agree that you're supposed to put equal amounts of shampoo & sea kelp?

Come to think of it...teenagers usually go by "the more, the better", maybe I should have bought the gallon!

That's why I bought the gallon, I've noticed some use equal parts of the sea kelp and shampoo and or conditioner. Plus I'll be making other things where I will need the sea kelp, I just thought I'd get the boat load while I was at it.

Do you think that 1:1 shampoo and sea kelp + rosemary E.O would do it? Katee's review is driving me over the edge regarding seakelp. I go away a few days and in the meantime, new gems are posted!!! Very Happy

I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I did abandon my sea kelp for a while, because it was a little difficult to mix as a topical product..

BUT I since added a small dollop (about 5%) to an apple cider vinegar hair rinse and it was amazing! The SK makes the rinse have more substance and my hair is absolutely shiny and smooth. I had great results from the ACV rinse alone, but still it did not help greatly with the big issue of oily scalp.. and the SK was doing something incredible after first use.

Also by chance, I decided to use the left over SK that was on the spoon from transfer product, as a base for a facial scrub with microderm crystals.... I couldn't believe that the next day my face was somehow absolutely oil free, unlike normally there is breakthrough and slight running of MMU. I'll be trying again to make sure the results are definite.

The Canvas cream is a bit too thick for my taste, and since I'm normal-oily, I just find it doesn't sink into my skin as much as my Missha lotion (very liquidy and fluid), so I just add the sea kelp to the Missha lotion, and I also throw in some Niacinamide, Glucosamine and a couple drops of the Anti-ox (a blend of antioxidants). My skin seems to love this concoction.

I'm not katee but I've been using Skin Actives' products including Sea Kelp Bioferment since January. It is tremendously nourishing. If used straight, it dries to a crackly film. That's why most of us who use it on our faces cut it with either distilled water, rosehip seed oil, or canvas cream (my favorite). You can also add a bit to your fave cream or lotion.

The sea kelp bioferment forms the base for my shampoo, conditioner, creams & lotions and bath gel.

Hope this helps.

Ari

maiea--thanks for your reply. for some reason, i kept thinking i needed the seakelp bioferment AND the canvas cream. i was probably thinking about the creme de la mer kit.

miranets--i totally need help for my oily scalp...my oily scalp is out of control Mad . i will try your acv and seakelp rinse when my jar comes.

i also notice that candy had posted a site that sold seamollient, the price seems more fair. i know karmicarchitect had said that the seamollient is harder to work with since it balls under makeup, but i wonder if it would be okay to use that instead of the seakelp bioferment for haircare.

i am a bit confused about seamoillient and seakelp bioferment, for some reason i think they are the same even though a user on this site explains the difference:

http://www.smartskincare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6740

Is the sea kelp ferment the same thing as Seamollient

Old topic, I know, but no one has replied and thought I would in case anyone was still wondering.

No, Seamollient is not the same as Sea Kelp Bioferment.

Sea Kelp Bioferment is fermented sea kelp, created using fermentation techniques like those used to produce foods such as yogurt and sauerkraut.

Seamollient is (and this is directly from GoW's product page) INCI: Water (and) Algae Extract.

i don't know how accurate the response is. any thoughts on this?

while exploring a new skin care site (smartskincare.com), some forum user mentioned a site that sells seakelp bioferment for $33 for 1 kg (i don't even know how many ounces or gallons that is without converting). http://activeconceptsllc.com/company.htm unfortunately, the site doesn't have prices listed so call ins or emails are probably necessary.

yes, I remember something like that, but the minimum quantity is a drum or something, unless they have changed their rules. Maybe we can orgnaize a group buy ! Laughing

In another forum I read that's where SAS got their SK from. Someone tried to organize a group buy but SAS somehow prevented the manufacturer from selling to that group. I am not sure exactly what happened though. Then someone experienced in that board created a DIY similair to SKB. I actually just made a batch and am trying it out tonight. Razz If it works out for me it's pennies per use Very Happy

The Herbarie sells SKB too, at a lower price..

Hi Moochez--i hear that a drum is $33, which if true is awesome. from reading the posts here, i feel like i need to put the seakelp bioferment in EVERYTHING! Laughing

Can you please update us on the DIY SKB, that would be so awesome! Of course, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference now as I have been delaying buying the SKB, for some reason, i just went crazy yesterday (chrismas eve) and started buying everything i have been holding back on Shock .

thanks for the herbarie site. i noticed there is a $30 minimum purchase. do you know how much shipping is? thanks!

skincareaddicted: You may or may not like the Canvas Cream - for me it was just too thick. Oh, Seamollient vs sea kelp - 2 different things. Seamollient is made from algae, and sea kelp is well... sea kelp (seaweed).

Moocheez: Please do let us know if you figure out how to make the fermented sea kelp! $15 for a 2oz jar seems pretty cheap, but it adds up since I put it in EVERYTHING!

I do remember finding that Herbarie site before! But their minimum order is $100 for outside of the US. =\

No, I did not try it.
skincareaddicted posted this information. I just converted 1 kg to ounces.
However, it does sound great, and I would like to buy it.

I second the idea ! I can't find the references now, (my regular laptop is in the shop) but I thought Active Concepts only sell them in ...drums And it is some large quantity like 20+ kg to a drum Shock I would want a kilo or two, but I don't want that much.

I heard a business liciense is needed to buy from them, but I can be wrong, I am sure someone here can manage this.

Skincare : I tried my homemade version yesterday and I think it will work for me. I have two uses for SKB, one to add to creams (as an active/additive), one I add a mild detergent to as a body wash/shampoo. At $15 for two oz I really can't afford to use it as a body wash or shampoo. There's where I use my homemade version. I am quite happy with it, my skin is not dry and feel very smooth with a silky after feel. I am 50+ and swim everyday so I need something that cleans the chlorine off but at the same time non-stripping. I only started using it yesterday so I can't say more about other effects, if any. The formula contains proteins and sea kelp.

At 35oz for $33, you would only need maybe 5 people to split it - say 7oz per person? (Normally I order the 8oz jar from SAS)

So if anyone decides to order the 1kg size - I'll definately love to get some of the sea kelp too!

Moocheez: how do you make your DIY sea kelp?
