Ok, once again, I've caved after reading all the good reviews here on EDS. I saw this at my local Vitamin Shoppe today, so I got it. Of course, I also told myself, "I'm getting it for less than retail".... I like when I can find things locally and save on S&H.

An FYI for others -- Vitacost does carry this product at a discount:

Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment with Nettles & Rosemary
4.34 oz
You Saved 35%
Retail price: $8.99
Our price: $5.84

I'll post my experience after using it. I do think I used this years ago - think I had a sample packet of it from a travel kit and do remember liking it.

too bad that I bought it at full price because it was the last tube on the shelf. I just had to have it...

I did not like the Avocado pre treatment. Felt nasty and did not soften my hair.

However, if you like it or any other Burt's Bees - drugstore.com has 30% off right now.

I just recently got this and have used it once so far. I used it as a pre-wash conditioner and wet my hair. I definitely had difficulty spreading this throughout my hair and probably used more product than I thought I would because of this.

I left it in for 15-30 minutes and then washed and used regular conditioner. My hair looked good but I don't know if it's any better than when I do a similar treatment with coconut oil and the oil is much easier to spread/use.

BTW, the fragrance was very mild and natural to me. I didn't think that it smelled like candy or Tutti Frutti as some others posted.

I'll use it up and see how I feel after some more uses. As I was using it, I wondered if I could use the orange facial cleanser for the same purpose - that spreads better than this. Though I suppose the citrus might affect hair color and probably wouldn't be as moisturizing.

Looking at the reviews on drugstore.com, I see a tip regarding running hot water over the container before using to soften it up. I'm definitely trying that next time and hope it helps my ability to distribute it well onto my hair.

Also, I was surprised by the # of reviews of it at drugstore.com (over 100):

I usually smush it around with some water, too, to make it easier to spread.

Nice review! I am looking for a nice shampoo and conditioning. I just searched and found out the Trader Joe's spa products, but now it is hard to decide which to try first.

Yesterday I tried mixing in half Avocado butter and half conditioner, and it worked incredibly well to weigh down my thick, dry, coarse, wavy hair - it defined my curls, chilled out frizz, and of course moisturized a lot. It was a bit greasy-looking and feeling, but worth it for the occasional deep moisture treatment that I can wear all day. Other gals with superdry strands might want to give this a try!

I noticed at Walgreens (where I see all sorts of stuff) last night that there are a few new BB products. A new hair conditioner Hair Repair Shea and Grapefruit Deep Conditioner.

I would be more likely to try this than use the Avocado thing again, I thought that was some nasty stuff!! LOL.

This new one you put on after shampooing and leave in for a few minutes. Here are the ingredients

Water, Cetrimonium bromide & Cetearyl alcohol (coconut oil emulsifier), Sucrose ester (natural sugar ester), Sucrose ester (natural sugar ester), Vegetable glycerin, Honey, Shea butter, Glucose (sugar), Betaine (sugar beet), Grapefruit oil, Orange Oil, Lemon Oil, Tangerine Oil, Lime Oil, Ginger Oil, Petitgrain Oil, Arabic gum (natural thickener), Polysorbate 60 (sugar emulsifier), Glucose Oxidase & Lactoperoxidase (natural perservative)

If someone tries the new BB post-shampoo conditioner (Hair Repair Shea and Grapefruit Deep Conditioner) that damblues wrote about, can you start a new thread with a review? Please Razz

It might be me. I was real tempted but I am still soooo loving that olive oil conditioning treatment I found at Walgreens a few weeks ago!! It works wonders on my curly, thick and stubborn hair!

But I would be interested in reading any reviews as well.

I already started a thread with a review of that new conditioner:

Hope this helps!

ooohhh...I'm excited to try this. I love finding new hair masks. I have been using the cholesterol treatment for years to my stylists dismay but Ihave yet to find anything else that gives that shine and moisture to my hair. Can't beat the price either. I have tried everything else and have paid tons for other masks.

I will spend a Sunday with this on my hair and post the results. Very Happy

i used this pretty religiously under my swimming cap when swimming--works well to provide an extra barrier against the chlorine, and allows me to bring only my shampoo to the gym!
