Piscesgirl,

(How did I make three posts of the same thing?)

What do you use as a conductor lotion when you use the Rex Kara? If you are pushing product in with the ion- you probably shouldn't push in the ultrasound gel. I'm looking for a good water based gel with some nourishing stuff.

I'm researching the gels, as well. The device came with its own gel, but there are several DIY recipes on the forum using aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, glycerin,
vitamin c, etc. Most posters agree that the common medical gels (like aquasonic)contain parabens and you definitely want to avoid them. I have read that many people just use conductors like KY since it is made for sensitive skin. I ordered Pjur Pjur Med Repair Glide from Amazon, which another Rex Kara user recommends. It has Hyaluronic Acid and is about $12 for 3.4 oz. I know I bookmarked some recipes from this forum and I'll post where to find them when I can Smile .

This thread is definitely worth checking out! I don't know if you're into DIY gels, serums, etc., but here's an excellent place to start. Just search for "DIY Skin Care—Recipe Index, Dermarolling, Facial Exercise" in the Essential Day Spa Forums. I can't post the link because I'm too new.

So... the Dot Matrix RF Thermage? How often are y'all using it and for how long? Where are you buying the 3 or 5 MHz models? How many watts are the models purchased? Also, ebay has a different model that is about twice the price ($195). It's white with some green and called the "Portable Facial Skin Firming Dot Matrix Fractional RF Radio Frequency Massager". Amazon carries it as well. It's 15W instead of 5W, like most of the others. Has anyone tried this one? Thanks for any feedback!

I got my 3 mzh today and was totally dismayed to see that there are NO instructions anywhere. I sent a request for a manual which, if they even send it, will take another 8-10 days to receive. It's another 'no name' product, so it's hard to even find a youtube video to match it. I prefer to have a written manual so I can refer to it as I'm using it. I have noticed that the photos for these machines are all of the same people.

I have been using my other one (which had such poorly translated instructions that they were almost unusable) and can definitely see some improvement, so I know the technology works. It's just that I'm afraid to use it without something to show me the proper applications.

cherallynne, where did you buy it? Is it the one the has a square yellow dot matrix head or the one with an oval white head? If it's the square yellow head, then laxsw92 has a 6-page manual with illustrations and is willing to email it to members. I received one, also, and will forward it to you if you pm me. I read up more on the MHz and it sounds a bit complicated. My present understanding is that the higher the number of MHz, the more the upper layers are affected. When the number is lower, the deeper layers are more affected. Tightening occurs in many layers. The professional machines I've seen with the higher MHz have 300 or 400 watts, while these handheld units (that I've found so far) are 5W or 15W. How many watts is your machine and how are your arms doing? (Sorry for so many questions) Smile

Pisces,
I have been using the one with the square head (1 mzh) for about two weeks - three or four times a week on my jowls and almost every day on my upper arms. I am also using it on my eye pouches (puffy tops of cheekbones) and it is helping, although I'm afraid to do too much because I don't want to melt all the fat and have huge bags. (Just want to smooth them out a little) My arms are showing some improvement, too.
The new one I got today is the flat paddle type one which I ordered because I thought it would be more powerful on my upper arms, although now I'm sort of confused about the different mzh levels and what they actually are supposed to accomplish.

I would love to have any information anyone as the info on youtube is helpful but not specific enough.
Can you tell me how to private message my email address to you?

Thanks!
Cherallynne

Just click on the pm button under my profile name on the left side of my post and I will get your message privately. Is your new machine a dot matrix or a round radio frequency paddle?

Hi, I just got mine today. I have not used it yet, but I have charged it and turned it on. Does anyone have the red led lights on theirs? Mine has them, but they don't turn on. Maybe they only activate when you are using it, I don't know.

I went back to Amazon because I was going to post a link to the one I got, but it is not there any more! The is another one that says it is "higher energy." I paid $89.99 for mine, the new one is $99. I know mine is 1mh and 5 watts. It didn't say what the "higher energy" of the new one is. Mine seems to look like the new one though. Mine didn't come with anything. Some come with gel or a spare treatment head.

Anyway, if you buy it from Amazon, make sure you buy it from Norlanya. That Lisa Laio is one heck of a customer service person. She even has a Skype address.

I have an ultrasound led ionic device that also needs a water based gel. I have just been using some aloe vera gel that I got at a health food store.

It's my understanding that 3 mh is used for face and neck, 5 mh for delicate eye tissue and 1 mh for the body. But maybe that is just for the ultrasound, because my dot matrix is 1 mh, but my ultrasound is 3. I'll try and find where I read that and post the link if I can.

I got mine today and, as you can tell by my previous post, the box refers to a manual, but there is nothing at all enclosed with mine. I did notice that I had to hit the IPL button to get the red light to work on the RF side.It doesn't come on otherwise.
On the side, it reads "FL SF and CL" I don't have a clue what that means.

Mine is the paddle type one bought off eBay. There are a lot of them on there and they all are the same.

One thing I've noticed on youtube videos is that most of the results shown are several months after treatments. I can already see improvement with the 1 mh. I just don't want to do it wrong and end up looking awful after a few months.

Cherallyne, I went on Ebay and was unable to find the one with the paddles. Maybe I am looking at the wrong thing, but they all look like mine. If you are able to use it, how do you like it? I'm waiting for a blemish to heal on my skin before I start with mine.

laxsw92, The one I got is paddle shaped and the listing read "Portable Dot Matrix Care RF Radio Frequency with RED LED" and I ordered it from grabbeauty off eBay. The only marking on the product was ULTR.Wave which didn't show up on google (or anywhere else). As I mentioned, there was no manual, but the lady emailed me some instructions today. They are poorly translated but better than nothing.
I am going to continue to use my first one with the square head (which was 1 mhz) on my face. I ordered the paddle shaped one to do my upper arms. I'll let you know how it's working. I do like the facial one, which I've been using about two weeks.

Thanks for the link for the video! The dot matrix thermage device in the video is the one most featured on Amazon and eBay, and it's the one I ordered. Christine's video is very helpful.

I finally took a few minutes to watch Christine Byer's video and was so happy to see that she is using the same one I bought. I laughed when she said the instructions were 'worthless'(they are!). I am still a little skeevy about using it directly over my thyroid, though, but I'm getting good results on my throat by just placing my hand over the center of my neck to cover the thyroid and using the RF vertically on either side - going all the way onto the sides of my neck to under my ears. I think it is forming new collagen to pull the skin tighter and alleviate the crepey center area.
I can see excellent results on my jowls, under my chin and a general tightening all around the bottom part of my face.

cherallynne forcella, do you use the dot matrix rf as Christina suggests (holding it in place) or do you glide it?

LuvMyBoxer,
I'm holding it in place until it gets too hot and then I move it to the adjacent space. I try to be careful to work systemetically so every area gets covered. I can do it now when I watch TV instead of having to stand in front of the bathroom like I did when I first got it.

My other one I bought for use on my arms and body and which is paddle shaped, also seems to work best when I hold it until it gets hot.

I hate the fact that the instructions are so poorly translated. I have had to request info from the seller, who had been responsive, but I have to wait for a day or two to get any answers.

I found a seller on eBay that was selling the 15w 1Mhz. I should receive it later this week so I'll post an update. How is everyone going with theirs? I'm keen to use on my face, neck and upper under arms.

Becstr, I really haven't seen any change, but I've only been using for a couple of weeks, and only on medium. I think I need to get brave an use it on high. Supposedly you don't see any progress until about a month is up.

I found that 15 watt one you said you bought on Ebay. Wow, they say that one time use is all you need. That has to be a misprint, or maybe I misunderstood. Please let us know if it works as well as it says. Did you offer, or pay full price?

The 15W one really packs some punch. It has 9 levels and the highest is quite painful. I've decided only to do my knees and feet for the moment, but I'll report back after a month.

The instructions do say only one treatment is needed and from that one use, I'd believe it! But I'll let you know Very Happy

I made an offer which they accepted, shipped via DHL which was super quick to Australia, only the local service let them down, taking the same time to deliver from Sydney to me as it took to come from China and clear customs!

It's a fairly solid little unit that runs on mains and has a dinky stand, at first I thought it was a charging dock until I realised it wasn't battery powered. I'll never use the stand Wink

Becstr, good information! You must have used the highest level to have felt the pain. I hope it does good things.

I have gotten braver with the 5 watt and have been using it on high. I only use it twice a week as the directions say. I wonder if I should use it more than twice a week. I see absolutely no results.

Christine Byer is a master aesthetician with a you tube channel. Her main expertise is microcurrent but she has discussed and demonstrated use of the dot matrix (found on Amazon) in one of her you tube videos. You may want to search her out.

Christine's video review actually convinced me to give this a try. Unfortunately, the unit I have is not like the one she demonstrates. Christine's has only 3 levels and is constantly 'on' whereas the unit I bought has 9 levels and a timer and the 'on' button acts like a trigger. I haven't figured it out completely as yet. I need time to play with it and figure it out.

I think I might try my thighs next and once I'm happy and confident I'll move to my neck and face.

Becst*r, is the on button (trigger) similar to IPL or a home hair removal laser? Do you see a flash of light when it fires? Also, how are your results so far? Thanks.

There is no flash of light but the lattice/matrix head spikes in heat, almost feels like the heat is drilling into your skin for a moment then subsides. It's quite an odd sensation and if I have it ramped up too high, can be quite painful depending on the area Wink

No results yet, but it's early days! Very Happy
