Oh, and one more *very* important sign of too much potassium relative to sodium is feeling spacey or ungrounded. This comes from slower transmission of nerve impulses in the brain due to reduced sodium levels.
For the vast majority of people doing green smoothies, you will never run into these problems EVER To put things in perspective, it is a rare problem. However, for the very small percentage of people who do a high or all-raw diet, a mostly fruit diet, sweat a lot or are heat sensitive or have other electrolyte issues, or are one of the few people who issues with your potassium/sodium balance in particular, it's important to be familiar with these signs of potassium/sodium imbalance.

I went to work today and forgot my pretty mugs I had to drink the smoothies out of the plastic mug( the plastic that is suppose to be safe ). Anyway it was such a different taste...not good. I took the smoothie home and finished in in a ceramic mug and the taste was very good. So the container is key to the taste....I was really shocked at the difference this made. |

I noticed that if I put a whole tine wedge of lime in the smoothie, it makes it taste awesome! Is this okay? Too much acidity?
P.S. I went to a PS today with my sister and he was talking about all of the green stuff to keep you young, skinny, and healthy! I told him about the Green Smootie Revolution and how I heard about it! He was very interested. He thought what he was telling my sister was new information out there in the world! |

So, was he talking about green smoothies or other things? |

It was something else however the same basic idea about the nutrients that you get from a 'green smoothie' with the same stuff in it. |

Probably - "green food" type powders. I've used them. Green Magma, Macro greens,.... all good but can't be as good as the real thing. |

Thanks, cm5597. I did not see this! Appreciate your help. I know I have been exercising really intensely lately, and sweating. I'll check into the info you provided. |

Hi rileygirl Do you add to the smoothies? I bought some red powder - it's the sister product to macro greens - probably called macro reds and I add 1/2 of the scoop to the mess!
Sometimes I take it alone with water as a base. I feel so good about myself eating this way. Hoping it comes to the outside but I'm glad for the results of facial exercises that this is an adjunct to all the other stuff. At my age - it's a must do. |

OMG! I sweat alot on my face and my body. At first I thought that it was because I was unhealthy until my doctor told me that it is good that I sweat the way I do, it means my pores are clear and I am detoxifying and my system is healthy!
I sweat really easily but do get cold easily. My sweat doesn't stink either, that is how I know that my body is staying clean! |

I actually find that sweating leaves my skin more hydrated and softer...hence I love hot yoga! |

Toby I've noticed the difference in taste in drinking coffee out of a plastic travel mug. It's got a weird fake kind of taste. Supposed to be safe huh |

Yep I've been told the same thing that sweating is good as it's detoxing. I use a crystal rock as a deodorant as it allows you to sweat. You just don't get any bacteria growing in the sweat which causes the smell.
Unfortunately I don't sweat that much really. Or 'perspire' as my nana would say. Us ladies don't 'sweat' you know. |

I didn't realize it until, I started caring less about if I sweat or not. I mean, today I was outside and I was pouring sweat. Came inside to take a shower, and I started beading up sweat on my upper lip, my forehead and my nose! Sometimes I just can't stand it cause I can't tell if it is sweat or a bug. it tickles my skin! |

Interestingly, I find that the more fat I eat, the stronger my sweat smells....When I eat a low fat, raw diet, it's rare that my sweat smells |

See, I thought I was crazy whenever I would say things like that.
For example, I don't eat red meat because I feel like it makes my body stink. i even limit my husbands intake because I can't stand the way a body smells when someone eats too much of it.
I don't know how to explain it, but I have always felt this way. Call me crazy! |

Hi, Sis. No, I don't add the green powder to the smoothies, just use it with water and either hemp protein or chia seeds! I just bought this product called Miracle Fruits of the World that I want to add to the green smoothies. (It has all the "exotic" fruits like mangosteen, etc. that I can't easily find near me!) I'll have to check into that macro reds, sounds interesting! |

I believe the same is true of farts. Beef farts are the smelly ones and those from eating fruit, vegetables and beans are not smelly farts! |

Ok... I managed to drink my breakfast, lunch and dinner... Green smoothie (breakfast), broccoli soup for lunch, potato leek soup for dinner...
And now watermelon for snack.
Not that I'd do this daily... I like to chew my food... But I was craving everything... |

Made with recyclable, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel and doesn't need a special lining like aluminum bottles. It's completely BPA-free and won't leach chemicals, toxins or funky flavors into your drinks. It's also durable enough to last years. |

Hi health2 u ,
Great to see you here!I don't know if you saw some of the earlier discussions about the concern of stainless steel being a problem with smoothies containing lemon or tomatoes. There has been information mentioned that stainless steel material might leech nickle with foods like lemon and tomatoes.Do you know anything about this? |

Hi Toby!
Fabulous thread!! Kudos to you for starting it. I'm so impressed with everyone's posts!
I do know about issues with stainless steel. (and certain plastics)
The products from Klean Kanteen don't leech nickel or any other metals.
They also have insulated totes (!) and drinking cups/thermoses for kids that are safe. (with straws!) Easy to clean, and some models have wide
lip openings so bacteria can't hide anywhere - even after you wash them.
I wasn't sure if anyone knew about these products, so I thought I'd post the link to the site. |

Oops, got up too early maybe.
To answer your question directly (I hope) about acidic fruits and vegetables and stainless steel: they can sometimes corrode low-quality stainless steel, and that's when you run the risk of nickel, etc. leeching into your food or beverage. |
