I used the original Revitalash. When the formula changed, I started using the Lumigan.

I purchased mine through All Day Chemist. One bottle last a few months. (I ordered 3 at one time, along with other items.)

I use it this way: I squeeze one drop of the Lumigan on my counter. I then dip an eyeliner brush into the drop and "line" the base of my lashes with it. One drop is far more than enough for this. Yes, I know. This might not be the most sterile. But I have not had a problem and nothing short of squeezing the drops directly in my eye would be more sterile. (Counter is cleaned first).

I have ordered many, many times from All Day Chemist and have never had any problem whatsoever. I receive my orders to the USA in about two weeks.

I have never posted to a forum before so I hope that you will overlook errors on my part. I wanted to ask you to be careful with the Lumigan. I had to use it in each eye for high pressures for approx. one year. Did not have a change in eye color. Did have long lashes. When I came off the Lumigan my lashes are no longer long. My eyes stayed red most all the time from the Rx. I had headaches for a few days until adjusting to the Lumigan. Over the year I lost from 138 lbs to 118 with no dieting. The Lumigan caused my eyes to be sensitive to light when out in the hot sun.Can cause vision distortion.Happened to me twice. I could only see part of my husband's face after being out in the hot sun for some time. Please wear your sunglasses when out in the sun when using this product.

Keliu,
Sorry, wasn’t knocking dermarollers. I have researched them, seen the positive studies, and yes, the method itself appears safe. If two people had responded to my “saggy neck skin” inquiry with “dermaroller” rather than “lightstim”, and one showed pics with results better than I even dreamed of, I’d have a .5mm roller on the way now instead of an LED device. It’s just that I suspect 1.5mm needles could have the potential to draw blood on the face, and that scares me. But that’s me, not you, I don’t know where you’re using it, and it’s off-topic, so back to Lumigan.
Jan Marini’s product had the same active ingredient. If that bothered you, the active seems like the most likely irritant, especially if you’d used other JM products. Short story, besides eyelash growth, the side effects in Lumigan glaucoma patients included “conjunctival hyperemia” (eyes getting red), “ocular pruritus” (itchiness), dryness, eye pain, feeling of a foreign body in the eye, and burning sensation – all of which are some form of irritation. So maybe it’s not for you.
The whole patient info doc is at http://www.allergan.com/assets/pdf/lumigan_pi.pdf. No doubt the frequency is much lower for those not putting it in their eyes, but that’s no comfort if you’re among those who are sensitive to it.
Fortunately for me, I’m not one of them. I’ve never experienced any problems, either with the original Revitalash or Lumigan, and I love my results.
Allergan has already conducted a clinical trial of Lumigan for use as a lash-growth enhancer, called “Safety and Efficacy of Bimatoprost Solution in Increasing Overall Eyelash Prominence”. You can see the protocol at http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00693420. No results up, which is kind of dissapointing, but I’m betting those are being shown to doctors to promote off-label prescriptions. If sourpatchme ever comes back on the board (so far, just the one post), maybe she can ask her Allergan rep for the scoop.
Maggie,
Thanks for the warning, but no worries for me. I’d be more likely to stroll downtown naked with an alligator than go outside without sunglasses.

HI there i been researching about lash growth for the last few days!! and i think i want to try lumigan but im scared of side effects? are there any? i know there's a dematologist dr klein that actually prescribe this to patients for lash growth and it cost them like 120 bucks but on allday chemist its only 12.97. i want to know any side effects before i try.

I bought Zino eyelash serum and it seems to make my lash longer but not fast enough. I do get red eyes from it when i get it in my eyes...

Please help

Thanks! Smile

Just to say, instead of Lumigan I use Travaprost (another prescription drug).

I topped up my original JM eyelash with it, and have been doing so since the JM was discontinued. It really has made a difference.

Just thought I would share my experience with Lumigan and Travatan thus far. I have been using Travatan (Travaprost) and Lumigan for approximately 9 weeks. I alternate nights of application (odd nights Travatan – even nights Lumigan; easier to remember that way). I apply with an eyeliner brush; a brush that is a little bushier than what comes with the eyelash products (i.e., Jan Marini, RevitaLash, or Lilash. I just open the bottle squeeze a drop or two on the brush and swipe it across each eye. I have had about a 40% increase in length and thickness.

Over the last few weeks I’ve seen next to no new growth. No lashes have fallen out, however, they seem to have plateaued or even a little shorter, if possible. The plan was to do this routine for 12 weeks total so I’ll stick it out for another 3-4 weeks and then let them rest or switch to something else. Unless of course they start growing again but even then I’ll probably go to JM for a while.

There were a lot of questions about the product(s) so I thought I would run down a couple things I’ve experienced:
1. Both Lumigan and Travatan are a clear liquid that come in a small bottle.
2. Lumigan expires around one year after opening.
3. Travatan expires 4 weeks after the seal is broken (for this reason I ordered 3 bottles at one time. That way I could have my next bottle ready to go when I finished each 4 week period. Plus, it saves on shipping).
4. You can order both products from In House Pharmacy or All Day Chemist. I have ordered from both sites and overwhelmingly prefer In House Pharmacy. Faster service, shipping, and just seemed all around more legitimate.
5. Have had significant brow growth pretty far down my eyelid but I would still consider them eyebrow hairs. They’re pretty annoying and I have to pluck my eyebrows at least every other day.
6. Did not have any other weird hair growth like I experienced with RevitaLash (upper cheek hair growth, yikes).
7. No eye or skin color change, however, I do have medium brown eyes.

Hope this helps! Good Luck Girls!

Sorry, posted this on the eyelash growth enhancing thread but not this one (I think). After a couple months of nightly use, when I stopped seeing additional growth, I cut back. Took about a week totally off, then went to applying about 3 X per week for maintenance. I've been using for about a year total, and, at least so far, I've maintained my gains on the less-frequent schedule.
I started with short, sparse lashes, and while my lashes even now aren't world-beaters, I love them. Maybe I could have gotten an extra millimeter or two, but I doubt it (I think you get what you get), and I'd rather be safer.
Also, can't remember if I said this, but I apply a lubricant to my lashes (usually olive oil or vaseline) a few nights a week to combat any drying effect of the saline solution in the Lumigan on the hairs. Generally on the off-nights, but sometimes post-Lumigan if I get all my other products onto my face long enough before bedtime. I wait after applying each active to let it sink in before the next thing goes on, so sometimes I poop out in process.

Just wanted to post this b/c some posters are wary of buying from overseas companies they've never dealt with. Regarding the safety of purchasing with a credit card......Paypal has a service called "Paypal Plug-In" that allows you to generate a one-time use Mastercard for internet purchases. I just started using it to limit exposing my credit card #s. I used it when I bought Lumigan from AllDayChemist and Renova from MedMex as an extra layer of protection. The plug in generates a one-use, virtual MasterCard that debits from your Paypal account. So, if you use a Visa or Mastercard to fund your Paypal account, you should still get the protections those cards offer. I can't comment on whether you'll have protection if you use your bank account to fund your Paypal account, though.

Hi guys,

I need some advice and im desperate. I have been using lumigan for eyelash growth for about three months religiously every night. My eyelashes grew super long, then as of last week they started to fall out, i wake up with eyelashes on my face if i remove my mascara they just seem to fall out. They feel weak at the roots and they have gaps in them and are much shorter than they originally were.

I really am at a loss and im scared i will lose all my eyelashes and that they will never grow back.

Should i continue to use the lumigan? should i cut down on using it? i really loved having long eyelashes, and would like them to grow back to the length and thickness they were. please advise.

thanks

I would definitely go see your dermatologist on this one; the sooner you see him the better probably. Sounds like a possible infection.

Hi, Angelboots. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems. When I was using Enormous Lash every night, and piling quite a bit on with each application, I noticed that after about 3 months, my lashes started looking really thin. They were definitely much much longer, but they looked very thinned out, as if some hair follicles weren't producing lashes. Then, I noticed a big gap where about 5 fell out at the same time. I got scared and reduced my usage to 3x per week and my lashes grew back nicely and very, very quickly (maybe 10 days). I'm not sure whether what you're experiencing is similar, but I've read posts on other forums where people have noticed something similar -- thinning, weakening, etc.... Have you tried reducing your usage?

Anyway, if your lashes are falling out more than a few at a time, I would see a doctor, just in case it's a medical issue.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies i spent nearly all of last night worrying about it, and thinking that my vanity would leave me with no lashes at all!

In fact i would literally soak my eyelashes in lumigan day and night, using an eyeshadow brush.

All of my really long eyelashes have fallen out, which im so sad about and yes now overall they look much thinner. Not sure i they look thinner than when is started the lunigan, but i asked my sister and she said they look the same, but i definately dont think so.

Anyone else with any experience of this that could give me more advice?

At the moment im so paranoid i wont even rub my eyes so i dont take more eyelashes out!

Yes, day and night use for 3 months sounds like a lot. The directions for Enormous Lash recommend a max of 2x/day for 2 weeks, and maintenance use after that.

Also, I didn't mention previously that the area where I had 5 or so lashes fall out was where I was concentrating the liquid. I'm more careful now to apply it evenly.

I have a hunch you're experiencing shedding either from overuse, or because your lashes all reached the end of their life cycles at the same time, or both.

I hope your right too. I wasn't applying lumigan evenly, i was adding big drops to the areas where i had gaps hoping it would make a difference. I think i might use an eyelash serum instead as lumigan does make my lashes brittle and under my eyes i have black circles, to the point the look like Uncle fester from the adam's family.

Im so embarrassed as im sure my friends and colleagues will wonder where the hell my eyelashes have gone! How long will they take to grow back as it took at least a month to get them to this length in the first place. I just hope i dont have to go through this every three months, i want my lashes for keeps.

Enormous lash and the new marini lash doesnt have the 'active ingredient' in it anymore does it still work? Amber recommended lilash which i might try. All of a sudden spending £100 on eyelash serums doesnt seem so expensive after all.

I feel a bit more hopeful now, thankyou

Hey ANgelboots..

maybe just lay off the lumigan for a while?
if your sister said they are the same, then maybe you are just over critical.. one does with own looks lol

question: is your dark eye circle caused by lumigan???
:O
thanks

Hi, Angelboots.
It took about 10 days or less for the stubby lashes to grow back and fill in the bare spot. They grew back really long and thick after I reduced my usage. I was using the old formulation Enormous Lash at the time.

Also, I cannot comment on the new none-drug formulations of these products. I was using the old Enormous Lash. I just started using Lumigan 3x/week.

Thanks guys, will be following your advice and keeping you all updated.

The lumigan definately made me have dark circles, to the point i stopped using it on my bottom lashes because i actually looked scary.
I have read tips that you should put moisturiser on before applying lumigan to safe guard the under eye skin from discolouration btu fir me that didnt work. My skin under my eyes has returned to normal; however i dont mind the darkening of the skin on my upper eyelid, because it now means i dont have to wear my smokey eyeshadow! lol!

My upper lid has been darkened, that might have been from Jan Marini eyelash...I am not sure it loks like lavendar shadow,if I want to cover it I put concealer on it.I think I am seeing some eyelash growth from lumigan...I have been on it 2 weeks

I do not know what is causing that.I have used lumigan and have not had that happen to me. One thing I can tell you is that I use a very small amount.I use a skinny eyeliner brush-believe it or not Target and walmart didnt even sell one at the time so I went to Michaels craft store and bought a package of 4 skinny brushes for $3. Then I dip it in lumigan and shake it and I just barely touch the roots of the lashes, you only need the tiniest amount.Perhaps if you put too much on your eyes and skin could suffer irritation/discoloration.
