I didnt look at the link you guys posted. Do you have it? I can check if it's the same. I've not tried the body massage because it's kinda hard to follow without the chinese instructions. Everythng is in japanese.
I borrowed a book on the pelvic bone. Seems like the pelvic bone is quite important in the ageing process. It's quite complicated though and my chinese isnt that good...lol. |

Link takes me to a page in Japanese. I must be doing something wrong. I'll ask my sons when they get in from school. This is driving me nuts!

I read it in Tokyo, the method is very similar as the one we are doing, but more focus on face slimming. Face slimming is very popular in Asia, as most of us have a round chubby face. |

hello all! this is fantastic! i love it! thank you critic and all you wonderful EDS'ers, whom make this EDS forum so special. i've never known of a forum with such international flare, packed with endless knowledge, and generated and supported by such beautiful and kind people.
especially this face and body massage for lymphatic drainage and anti aging! i was so excited that i started last night after midnight. i know a lot of people, including myself, that can benefit from this and the traditional chinese medicine information. i'm also thrilled that there are no chemicals involved, and it is all natural and healthy. bravo!
i see that i have some catching up to do, but i hope while i'm repeatedly going through these wonderful threads and practicing that i get to meet and interact with all of the wonderful participants!
again, an applause and sincere gratitude to critic for her sharing and assistance.
i wish you health, wealth, and happiness!

TheresaMary,
the DVD may be in the format that is incompatible with the standards here in the USA. I ordered the face one (with book) and can not play it on my PC. I will talk to people who may know which plugin/driver I may need, and let you know.
I love and do massage twice daily. And even though I do not see yet(hopefully) such fantastic results I really enjoy it.
Critic, if there are any additional recommendations for the under eye bags and chin are - I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks. |

Hi, I've only just joined EDS but have been following the bone facial massage (zogan massage) for a week or so. Thanks to everyone for their input and especially Critic for sharing and being so helpful.
I saw a couple of posts on guasha, which sounds amazing. I checked out a few things in google, and found a site where you can buy the scraper, and also a variety of sizes of rollers (small for face, larger for body, knobby for feet). I've only done the Zogan facial massage, but the body massage looks interesting. I was thinking it might be easier with a roller ?? It looks a bit like the Chi body brushing system - but all lymphatic drainage massage will be pretty similar, for obvious reasons.
I've learned so much from this thread! You ladies (and gentlemen) are a wealth of information. I love it! |

Also can I ask a question here just for general feedback. Are people stretching their skin when they do this, with the sweeping motions etc. I tried it alongside the video, and it doesn't look like the model's skin is stretched at all during any of the movements, but obviously in doing say the forehead part where you move the fingers down to the temple and then collarbone, is it lightly tracing it?
Her skin does look great in the after photo at the end, and I'm just wondering if Tanaka is against the stretching of the skin? Critic do you know if she is against it? I'm wondering if that is why her skin is so good, because she doesn't. Anyone know?

Also Critic knowing your knowledge of TCM, what do you think of accupressure etc. Are these gimicks that don't work or are there validity to them. I've just seen a thread entitled TIAN YONG REJUVENATION SYSTEM and the woman who is on that site is supposed to be in her 50's but she could be your older sister! |

It's acutally neondaze told me about this book, I did not know it has an English version. The massage techniques are focus on outer skin and muscle, also included facial exercises. One book gets all information.
The one I got is 2004 edition, I think the English one is 2008. |
Critic,
I have this book and have incorporated the lotion mask into my daily routine. I love it. I'm also doing the double chin lymph massage and love it too. I haven't done the other massage techniques in the book, but I was wondering how you think they compare to the Tanaka massage techniques. Thanks for your help. |

I printed off instructions from one of the websites and it says that you're supposed to press to the point of pain on some of the steps. I wonder which is correct. |

Skippie,
Not Critic, but I also have both books and had been doing Zogan massage for a couple of weeks.
Double Chin one is very similar to #10 in the Tanaka's massage.

Tanaka says that stressful pain is not valid. You have to find out "pleasantly painful" pressures.
A guide of the pressure can be found by this way: when you lean to a wall attaching the back of the head, you would feel strength in the abdominal muscle during the massage movements. (21:29 of DVD) |

Hi, Guys, I just read on another website that we shouldn't do lymphatic massage daily because it will lenghten the muscles and cause sagging. |

I read the book again while enjoying my 30 mins footbath. The lymph massage is very similar to Tanaka, except Tanaka has linked all steps together in the video. I actually recommend those are doing the massage read the book, is it available in the library? It’s very informative. The book even talk about other type of massage and facial exercise etc. |

I have a few body rollers, my favorite one is called Cell Roller, it is made in China but for sale in Japan only. Have a lot to learn from Japanese as they design a lot of beauty toys. This roller is focus on thighs and legs, but I use it for whole body, it is very comfortable after each rolling.

Another one is called Five Element Body Brush, I believe it is made in China but for sale in Taiwan only. It comes with a diagram to show where to start etc.. more focusing on brushing the back, as TCM believe the back is very important. |

I have done this massage twice now, this morning and this evening. WOWEEEE!!! I can't believe how great my face looks afterwards. Actually, immediately afterwards, I look a little rough. Ten minutes later I am fresh, pink and glowing.
So why has this DVD not been subtitled and made availble to the masses outside of Japan? I would love to get a copy to my mom who has only a dial-up connection (aaaargh!!) so she can not view it online.
critic--you're my hero!! Thanks for bringing this to the EDS masses. I would not have checked out this thread had Kassy not mentioned it in the AALS thread (thanks, Kassy!). The subject line "exercises" made me think it was in the vein of Lulu's or FlexEffect, both of which I tried, but just couldn't get myself to keep up on. I know I will stick with this massage though...pleasant, easy, free with visible results. YAY!! Thanks again! |
