I would suggest using the device on 2 when the next day redness is an issue, and on level 3 when you maybe have a day at home, when the redness is not an issue.
You can then build up to level level.
I wouldn't miss a day unless you have to, as the protocol for Tria is totally different to the ReAura. If you need to rest your skin, you can obviously miss a day, but I would try and stick with the instructions. |
I guess I don't understand why the protocol of the two devices is different considering that they are the same type of laser. I still think that you're better off opting for a more intense treatment. Consider how strong a professional treatment is to these devices - by comparison, the home devices are very mild. But with everyday treatments you are treating skin which is still inflamed. So if your skin is extra sensitive, I still think a day off between treatments is a good idea.
Philip - you have both devices, does the Tria feel much stronger than the ReAura? |
The ReAura is stronger than the Tria, but both effective.

So, I started my 3rd set of treatments last night. I did my whole face on level 3 and it didn't hurt much at all! Now, 12 hours later, my face is still REALLY red but it's not sore. So, even if I can't do every treatment on level 3, I'm pleased that eventually I will be able to. I know that the last set of treatments, I did on level 2 and it seemed my skin had adjusted and I needed a level 2 1/2. So, this new development is exciting....I'm getting there....slowly but surely! Blessings to all |

From your mouth to God's ears, Maria! I've still got a ways to go but after the first set of treatments, all and I mean all of my hyper pigmentation was gone. I didn't notice as much improvement in the lip lines and sides of the mouth lines, but as I laugh WAAAAAYYYYY too much, I knew they'd be a challenge.
The second time around, I concentrated more on the "smoker's lines"(I've never smoked!!!!!) and I've noticed a huge improvement in those lines. The lines at the sides of my mouth and the number 11 lines between my eyebrows had a wee bit of improvement, but not HUGE! But, don't forget that I've done all of my treatments on level 2 and the Tria people told me that there would be improvement, just slower and not as dramatic. I've read on other blogs that the smoker's lines are really really difficult to eliminate. On the Isomers website, there are ladies who have been working on those lines for a year or more before they see improvement (with topical serums) so knowing that....I'm a happy girl that I've seen such an improvement in so short a time and on level 2 at that. I'm also 60 so it took 60 years to get this way!!!! |

I am now using my Tria with my retinol A, and not having any problems. I can get very red with the combination, but I am using lots of calming products to manage the redness. My skin is looking really good.

Great review, Philip! I've done my 2nd treatment on level 3 and it was doable! Now if I can just get past the tomato red face, even 12 hours later. Sigh. |

Keep going Shamus. I went to show the Girls in SpaceNK, my results from the Tria and they were amazed!

Yay! I bought my Tria off of EBay. I received it and activated it today. I did my first treatment on 2 tonight. My face is pretty red but it beats the blood and pain of derma rolling! This is much better than a bloody derma roll. I think my skin will be fine tomorrow. It usually is OK the day after a deep roll, (after a roll its much more red and swollen than right now) but I usually have some bruising that I won't have with the Tria. 😊 So far so good. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Thank you to all who have posted so far. I felt like I knew what I was doing because of this thread. Otherwise, I would have been lost! |

Philip, you are such an absolute star for all of these reviews and the fantastic advice you so generously provide on here.
In fact, you've finally persuaded me to take the plunge (after I've saved up some pennies/vouchers for a little while). I'm a little concerned about the Re-aura with regard to rosacea, which I'm convinced I almost certainly have, but the Tria sounds like just the thing for me instead.
These machines aren't cheap and it makes all the difference to have you and our other fantastic EDS'ers helping us to work out which might be the right choice. Thank you so much! |

majorb : I also have rosacea. Mine is generally pretty dormant, but occasionally flares up. I notice the areas on my cheeks I am prone to get rosacea are a little redder than the rest of my face immediately after using the Tria. However by the next morning (I do my treatments at night) the redness is completely gone.
Over time my cheeks have become less red, and is definitely adapting. In fact the areas with rosacea look a lot less red than before I used Tria. Not sure why this is, and I wasn't expecting it
Oh, forgot to add the after care serum seemed to make my rosacea worse, so I have stopped using it. |

Goodbyekitty (haha, love your username! ), that is such a helpful post. Thank you very much indeed. It really helps to doubly confirm that the Tria is likely to be my optimum treatment tool.
Thanks also for the warning about the serum. I'll keep an eye on how that goes for me. |

Chalk and cheese!
The PV was designed for the periorbital area only.
The Tria can be used over the entire face.
The power/design of the PV is designed for use around the delicate eye area, and the device provides a very small laser STAMP on the skin. The PV limits the laser does in 8 hours to 25 shots.
The Tria gives you enough power and sessions to treat the entire face.
There is no comparison.

You can't. It's not FDA approved. The Tria company won't ship to the US either. I bought mine off of eBay. Registration and phone activation went smoothly. |

Just a little tip!
I have been focused on the reviews for EDS and my blog testing the Tria, and I haven't been using my retinol A and microderm' machine since November. Wow - I have gone back onto retinol a and did an deep microderm, yesterday - gosh - I had a build up of dead skin cells, I have seen that much flaking in ages, and I hit it with a Omnilux red last night, my skin is glowing today. A lot of flaking around the eye and mouth area, a little pink today, but the skin looks smooth.
I think we need to remember in the rest period, or even during treatment, that the top of skin will still need a helping hand to look fresh.

I have done 1 full round of the 8 wks with 4 wks off. I started the 2nd round then but for reasons had to stop (not face related). Finally got back into it and I've just started the 3rd round and into the 4th week.
I am really pleased with my "11" line. It
really has softened up - when I look at some others my age their skin look alot worse! My skin is pretty rosey. I've been doing level 3 since day 2. Face stings, slightly red after but no one would really notice. And I've been using obagi/retin A micro the entire time (about 2x a wk because I'd finally gotten to the point with the obagi that I wasn't peeling all the time and don't want to build up again). Love my tria!!!! Thank you Shamus!!!! |

SherryFL3500, I live in California and just bought a Tria on Ebay from someone in Canada, for $400 plus $20 shipping, this person ships to the U.S. I'd looked a few times there previously and didn't find one, so I think it's just hit-or-miss if one is for sale. This was brand new in the box. Hoping for good things--this plus a microcurrent (maybe the Pico Toner!) and hopefully that will be my holy grail.
Since my skin has become a bit unpredictable the last few years (It was pretty darn good in my 20s, 30a and 40s but it's still oily in my mid-50s, plus a return of intermittent but bothersome breakouts/clogs have happened the last two years), I think I will try it on my forehead first, rather than whole-face, to see how my skin reacts.
I am also going to try and firm the skin on my inner arms just above my elbows, which in spite of skin brushing and clean eating and exercise, has become alarmingly crepe-y lately. I was resigned to simply wearing elbow-length tops year around, now maybe there is a possibility of rejuvenation!
I will let the forum know how it goes and I have learned much from what others here have written. Thanks especially to Phillip! I appreciate all the tips and the 'layering' as I have a Quasar Pro that I may combine with Tria. |

I've received my Tria today. I got it primarily to try and see if it will work on stretch marks on breasts, buttocks and thighs. I'll update in a few weeks time if it was effective or not! |

Vadlen, Just to hi-light the device was designed to be used on the face.
