Its that time of year again...what is your favorite self tanner. I have heard good things about Decleor tanning milk...and fake bake. I'm curious what your favorite would be this year. |

I was just reading the rave about that product. I tried one of those moisturizer/tanners last summer and did not like it at all. I'll give jergens a chance...it is so cheap. I did kinda like the neutragena spray tan stuff cause it is easy and you dont need to rub it in...I was just curious what everyone likes. |

I bought it from Walmart, I think it was less than $5.00. They have different shades for different skin tones, I got the one designed for Medium/tan skin. It very subtle, so just using it once probably won't be too dramatic. |

don't do fake bake! my mom ordered it and it gives such dark, drastic color that it's impossible to apply it nicely. she had so much streaking! i'm about to get a bottle of jergen's! |

I love Fake Bake! My fav tho, is St Tropez.. The color from both is very natural and I've never had a problem with streaking, nor has anyone I know who's used it.. But then you do have to put it on evenly, as you would with any tanner... Not just slap it on like you would a regular lotion.. Plus you need to exfoliate and I find it's best to use some lotion before hand as well..
I bought the Jergans last year, and that stuff STINKS!!! A couple weeks ago I bought the L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer {the same idea as the Jergans} and it's nice.. No stink to it.. You can't just use that type once, you'll see nothing.. It's a gradual thing that comes as you apply each day, over the week.. I want to try the Sublime Glow gelee, I've heard good things about that...
I apply it wearing the latex type gloves, then to my hands with a cosmetic sponge that I hold with a plastic hotel shower cap to protect my fingers.. No hand washing needed.. I also have baby wipes to wash the palms of my hands, because I don't go to all the trouble of gloves and sponge when I use the L'Oreal.. Works fine, and I don't wash off the product from the tops of my hands... |

I just bought the Jergens Natural Glow and I have to say it works very nicely. This is day 3 and even my husband complimented me. I think it just helps give a touch of sun without the harmful rays. I do not care for the smell of it, but it goes away quickly. I actually like the results better than the Neutragena Build a Tan. |

Clarins self tanning gel. No smell, easy to apply, fast dry and good color. I've used Lancome, Clinique and Fake Bake and this is the best for me (very fair) so far. |

I really like the color of the tan that the Fake Bake gives (brown, not orange), but lately I've found myself getting tired of the mess. On one hand, it's nice that it's colored so you can see where you're applying it...but it still gets all over everything. I can't sleep in it (as they suggest) because my sheets would be a mess...so if I do the FB it's usually on a weekend when I can put on some old sweats and t-shirt that I don't care about staining!
But I have read great things about the L'Oreal Sublime Gelee on MUA...so I am going to try that next!

Speaking of Jergen's Natural Glow, has anyone here tried the Target version? I just read a review on MUA that said that Target's version is basically the same thing except it doesn't have that awful smell like Jergens. I was hoping someone here could really compare the two. Thanks! |

From sunless.com I found out about Airbrush Solutions (ABS on their forums). I've tried a couple but settled on React untinted - purchased online.
I dilute the liquid with water or Infusium in 1:3 ratio, and apply three days in a row. I use a small spray bottle and a velour puff. It's super easy, takes 5 minutes to do my arms, legs, torso and face at night. This has virtually no smell, dries ultra fast and gives me a nice brown color. Even my girlfriend thought I was going to the tanning beds.
There is tons of info on sunless.com - some users mix it with lotion to make their own "natural Glow" type product. I learned alot from the veterans there, and everyone is very friendly in answering newbie questions.
HTH a bit. By the way I have tried Clarins, L'Oreal, No-ad, Marcelle, Life and numerous others but never liked the smell or the orange color I got. React has way more DHA (? the active ingredient) at 10% plus there's a higher one if you really want color. |

I like Tan Towels ( which are in foil sachets, like a wet wipe) they dont smell yukky and they do a good job on me..... or I also like St Tropez, the mist or the mousse I prefer to the lotion. |

Second for the Tan Towels...although I have been using Jergens The Tan Towels only come in one color so it was alittle too orange for my paler skin, whereas the Jergens has 3 shades to choose from. It does make me smell though, but my boyfriend thinks I smell like baked goods so I guess it is not too bad |

I very nearly purchased some Johnson's Holiday Skin Lotion, I went back the next day and all out of stock!! Dove has brought out their own version which is buy 1, get 1 free so I think I may have to try some of this
I am a bit hesitant about using any form of self tanning products, what chemicals are you soaking up into your body?
Also I am quite pale, I probably look better as an all one colour pale than several shades of pale and tan |

I quite like St Tropez to get a good dark colour to start with, but it is messy and it can stain your sheets. (it washes out, but it's just the commitment of St Tropez today - change sheets tommorow). Once I have the base colour I like to top up with the ModelCo Tan In A Can which offers easy application, quick results and a pleasant smell of cocoa butter. Rodial is a beautiful self tan treat and great if you don't want to go very dark and have dry skin. |

rosebud - I hated the Johnson's because of the absolute stench, plus I found it to be streaky on my legs. Haven't tried the Dove, but have heard similarly bad things about it.
The one body moisturiser/grandual tanner I did find to be pretty good was the Ambre Solaire After-Sun with Self-Tanner. It's in a blue tube. There's still a bit of an after-smell, but not anywhere near as strong as with the others. It gives a good, non-orangey colour and is easy to use.
I think it's head and shoulders above that revolting Johnson's stuff. |

Majorb I was in Tesco this morning and bought the Dove one, it was only £4 for 2 bottles with the offer they had on so I caved in, for that price is doesn't really matter if it's fantastic or not
I will keep my eyes peeled for the Amber Solaire though, I think this may be good for late summer time |

I love Fake Bake too! I'm almost out of the cream on, and have asked for the mousse version for my birthday. I use gloves to apply it, and always shave and exfoliate beforehan, but I've never had a problem with streaking or uneven colour, and I'm definitley no expert! I've also used the Johnsons Holiday Skin but didn't wash my hands properly and went a nice shade of orange between my fingers! Haven't seen the Dove version but will look out for it and give it a try, especially if it's on offer - Tesco here I come! |

Another vote for Fake Bake! Beautiful brown color and it's very difficult to make a mistake, even for a novice self-tanner like me. As others have said, it will discolor your sheets but comes out in the wash.
Since I've always heard good things about Clarins self-tanners, I just ordered the Self Tanning Coffret Spring 2006 which includes Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for Face and Decollete, Self Tanning Instant Gel and Gentle Exfoliating Refiner.

rosebud - Let me know what you think of the Dove version. I'm mainly worried about the smell as it always seems super-concentrated on me and I can't abide it. I'd be very interested to see how it turns out.
The Ambre Solaire is more expensive, unfortunately - although they do sometimes have some super offers on it in Superdrug.
Anyway, I see you're like me in that the word "bargain" is totally, totally irresistible!
phredd - I adore the Clarins Liquid Bronze. I can't wait to read your verdict on it. It's the best and easiest facial tanner I've ever tried. I even love the smell! |

The Dove smells exactly the same as all the other Dove products, luckily I quite it, but if you are not partial to the Dove scent then this may be a little over powering. |

TAMgirl - i've used both the target brand and the jergens, and there is absolutely no difference besides the smell thing, so yeah, the i think the target brand is def. a better deal for the same thing |

FYI - CVS now offers a store-brand version of Jergens Natural Glow. I checked it out while I was there the other day, actually going so far as to open a bottle of both the real and the imposter stuff and compare the scents. I didn't smell anything with the CVS version, but then again the scent of the real stuff never bothered me much to begin with! |

P.S. I terms of true self-tanners, I love the Clarins self-tanning milk, but my all-time fave (again, we’re talking true fake bakes and not the hybrids like Jergens Natural Glow, which I waxed poetic about last year in another thread) is from Decleor. I can’t remember the exact name of the product, but it was lightly tinted and had an SPF of (only) 6. Until I found the Jergens, that was the only stuff that gave this albino a believable, non-orangey color. |

I don't mind the usual Dove smell. In fact, some of their stuff smells quite nice.
Did it develop into the horrible biscuity fake tan smell the day after? That's what usually happens to me with these things. If not, I might give it a try myself. |
