Hi all!
I was wondering what everyone thought of the drugstore bought pore cleansing strips and if they were effective at all for you. I used the Biore ULTRA cleansing strip today and holy tomatoes, I couldn't believe how much gunk it took off!!! It was a bit gross
I've also used the regular Biore strips, the Ponds strips and one that is made by Shisedo-I think it may be discontinued but it wasn't a strip, more of a paste and you applied and waited for it to dry. Then off it comes with all the dirt. Out of those (other than Biore ultra cleansing, the Shisedo was most effective)
I've read that these strips weren't so good for you but don't know the reason behind it... what are your thoughts? |

I found the original Biore ones to be very good as well. It is quite impressive how much gunk you can get out, though you can see that it does not get out all of it. I prefer to actually prevent blackheads rather than use the strips.
I think the issues with the strips, from what I recall, are that they supposedly make the pores larger because it's 'brute force' and because they leave them open and they fill up again. I'm not too sure about the brute force bit, but I think as long as you steam your face first, then use the strip, and then follow with a cold compress to close the pores then you're doing things to counteract the problem. |

I used Biore strips many years ago when they first came out and was sort of fascinated and horrified at the same time when I saw the little pore plugs on the used strip that looked like little cactus needles, but I have to say that I’ve been scared to use them ever since I read another member equating them with duct tape!
One thing, though: I only ever got results from the nose strips. The ones for chins and foreheads didn’t pull out any plugs for me so I felt they were a waste of money.... |

I remember trying these years ago and I nearly pulled half my skin off!!!
I was not terribly impressed with the results, especially as I ended up with big red strip marks!!! And yes they do conjur up images of duck tape with me too |

Funny!
I tried these several years ago ... with less than impressive results! I don't know if I didn't do it right ... but the strip came away without much of anything on it!
I discovered that OCM gently removed any plugs on my nose, cheeks and chin [although it took longer for the ones on my nose] ... and keeps them clear. I've even begun to think that some of those once-clogged pores are beginning to shrink some ... although this could merely be wishful thinking on my part!
If the strips work for you, I think it's great. Lord knows that the longer any pore is clogged/congested, the larger it gets and the bigger the chance of developing larger pores!

Pore strip used to work wonders on my nose area. The trick is to make the strip really wet and wait more than suggested time. However, after I started using Dr. HCC or Jurlique Face Wash Cream, I don't have so much junk to pull out so the strip becomes kind of useless. |

About 9 years ago here in Japan (yes, blame the Japanese for this invention ) ... before the strips were on the market, you could only get it in a "mask" style that like mentioned above you waited to let dry and then pulled off.
I cannot remember now whether mine was a Biore or Shiseido one, but whilst it did pull out some gunk, after two or three uses I discovered small red veins apparent on the side of my nostrils (where I had been also using it due to blackheads). On my sensitve skin, the ripping off of the mask - which must not be as strong even as the strips I would think - had done some damage. They have never gone away but fortunately are only visible if you look closely. |

OMG -- I have those red marks too, as a legacy of the Biore pore strips! I guess that is a good reason to avoid them as well as the "brute force" thing that Mabsy mentioned.... |

It totally doesnt work for me.....
1.Already wet my nose
2.Peel of pore strip from the Plastic strip
(my hands are dry)
3.Put onto my wet nose....
4.20 minutes later peel off totally no pain
5.No blackheads out at all
Dont know whether i used it wrong... |
