I stopped mine after reading that report. That's too bad, I actually enjoyed using it. |

I wont use it because it neutralizes AHA.
Second it's really not clinically proven yet. |

I'm going to use up what I have and then won't reorder. I think it has more to do with the fact that I find it irritating than anything else! |

I'm not about to give it up. I've been using it too long with great results and no problems.

I just went to find the article, but I cant find it.
I think I got this mixed up with something else.
Some thing neutralized AHA. I thought I found it was DMAE.
I suffer from TMI Confusion..
Actually DMAE and AHA go well together...
I'm going to backtrack last nights research, and see if I can find what it was. It was wayyyyy too much research for one night!
Sorry for the confusion..

I'm not paying attention to that article either. It's speculation since it is not clinically proven yet.
I'm adding it actually.

I gave it up before the article Uno because despite the instant results my skin feels wrecked by it - I've tried various brands over the years and always the same. Quite a number of others have given it up because of sensitivity and serious dryness issues with it too. There are a couple of threads on that but I can't be bothered to find them. |

Just came across this thread though I read an small article in the Toronto Star about cellular damage caused by DMAE. I have had issues with dryness and DMAE but since I always follow it with a moisturizer, I didn't worry to much about that. I am concerned about this report and as my supply of DMAE is about to run out I can't decide whether or not to reorder. Does anyone know more about this than the small report I read and does anyone know of another product that does a good job of firming without the possible damage? |

I'm looking for the same dokusan. Caffeine is one I haven't tried yet.
e.g. http://www.skinactives.com/products/coffee.htm
I know it's used in an increasing number of eye products for tightening. I wonder if anyone can compare? |

I will use up what I have but won't reorder more. I haven't seen much improvement from it and probably wouldn't have reordered regardless of what the report says. |

Molly, I haven't used DMAE, but have been using skinactives CoffeeBerry cream for a few weeks and like it a lot. My skin is looking really good at the moment but as I have introduced a few different treatments lately, I can't say for sure which is benefiting me the most. |

Thanks Lillilulu - is it dramatically tightening? |

To be honest Molly, I didn't know that it had the tightening effect when I ordered it, just thought it was worth getting for all the anti-oxidants alone. All I can say is that my skin is tighter but I am on a diet as well so it could be losing a little weight that has made the difference (which I thought it was until you mentioned this) so I can't say for sure. |

SandraG I think you were right the first time. I don't think it would be wise to apply the amine form of DMAE which has a very high pH with AHAs which need a low pH to work properly. You would definetly stop the AHA from exfoliating and I wouldn't be surprised if the DMAE were effected too. If you are using the bitartrate form of DMAE which does not have a high pH then you might not have the same problem. But I would not apply the amine form at the same time as AHAs. |

Sandra, now that I think of it..you could have read it here. Darren popped in talking about acidic products & DMAE. Amine DMAE should not be used at the same time as acidic products. He was specific about vit.c...but this would apply to AHAs as well? |

I am about to finish mine in a week. Still thinking about not using it...just want to know if there have been other reports or is it still speculative? |

Is anyone still using it?
And has there been more studies that are clinically proven? |

I never saw a benefit from it myself, and I could really use some tightening in my jaw/ neck region
After reading the article I'm not going to try it again either, no reason to risk ruining the skin cells on my face!!!
Wonder what Perricone would say about this article, isn't he the one that really started suggesting it's use? |
