I recently started (1 month ago) taking both super strength evening primrose oil capsules and 10mg of Vitamin B6 to alleviate PMS symptoms. As a consequence I have had two BAD breakouts of hormonal acne cysts on my chin. Does anyone know which of the two supplements is likely to be causing this. The supplements have really helped with the PMS symptoms so I'd like to figure out which one is causing the breakouts and keep taking the other one! Anyone had any similar experience?

B vitamins, with the exception of Biotin, are usually helpful with acne.
My guess is the EPO. This broke me out at high doses.

I would have to second the primrose oil.
I tried primrose and did not have good results. I am still acne prone at almost 49.

I do take a B vitamin supplement once of a while (50 mg) and it helps with energy, etc.

I have reactive skin and I actually keep a log of all new products/supplements. It gives me an idea of what seems to work or not work.

Supplements in general take about 4 weeks to see results.

Have you checked the additives in the Evening Primrose? You may be reacting to something. I am always more reactive near my cycle's start, and sometimes the colourants or preservatives can set my skin off. I used to have terrible hormone related break outs, and then I was told to take zinc five days before my period started, up until the day I first bled. I hardly ever break out now. If I do, I get one pimple. I use to get a face covered in pimples, and down my neck too! Try the zinc - it does not have to be a lot, just 10mg.

I would introduce one supplement at a time. Like someone stated before you could be having an reaction to one of the additives. Or it could be just the vitamin it's self. Good luck I hope everything works out!

both of these are known to help balance female hormones and inprove skin.
It could just be coincendence, those cysts develope a few weeks ahead deep down in the pores.
I would give it another few weeks for improvment or try one supplement at a time first.

I did EPO for a long time and didnt notice any breakouts...BUT...I am taking a BComplex with a bunch of other supplements and I'm breaking out like crazy...not in the normal "hormonal" places but in a straight line down my face (forehead, nose and chin)...I suspect the BComplex but I cant be sure. If it is helping your symptoms I would suggest that you stick with it.
