I will start a review of a few and please add, some of my best are discontinued!
Stainiac (by The Balm) great red color, also comes in another shade see: http://www.sephora.com/stainiac-P104014?skuId=917781
Lasts all day, never pills up under gloss or lipstick. I may reapply once after eating but other than that I just add my gloss once in a while and good to go. Can be used on cheeks under foundation or without!
Just Bitten (Revlon) Same as above, I have red only.
Benefit's Benitint:
http://www.sephora.com/benetint-P1272?skuId=108779
I know some don't like the brush, I do not mind it at all. lasts very well also, and can be used on cheeks as well!
They make a great travel (purse buddy) with one end benitint and the other is gloss. It is called Pocket Pal!
http://www.sephora.com/benetint-pocket-pal-P127208?skuId=879395
What I adore with stains is when your lip gloss/sticks wear off you still have those sweet colored lips!

Thank you for starting this, I am always on the hunt for a "sheer red" look. I love lipstains but find it so hard to find a good one. They always dry out my lips within an hour and then my lips look cakey !
Off to sephora's to check, I am sure I'll have more questions as I shop! |

I never have issues with lips drying, but that is one thing I like about the stains you can layer over with any other lip product you find helps keep your lips conditioned. |

I might be confusing lip stains with the all day lipsticks ! Those are awful on me, I end up looking like dracula within hours. |

I really don't use regular lipstick anymore, just stains, followed by gloss or tinted balms, I happen to also like the Burt Bee's colored balms over! |

I am a tinted balm fanatic, over lipstick anyday. Its been ages since I've worn "real" lipstick, I find it very aging. The softness of balms is so much kinder and softer looking IMO.
Ulta 3 has a brand called Palladio, under $5, and they are great, long lasting, very conditioning and a nice colors. |

That sounds lovely and I know the brand, I will take a peek, I find with the stains you get a much more natural look! Very soft and natural!!!! |

LOL. Tis all in the application my dear, just go light handed more can always be added if needed, too much on first application has you washing off or waiting for it to fade in time! |

This is another (dual purpose also) that I really like, and it is convenient to take along. I use it with a retractable lip brush when on the go!
Bestseller Cherry Lip & Cheek Stain
$18.00
You'll look naturally flushed when your sweetheart whispers. Our Cherry Lip and Cheek Stain is more blendable than other stains out there, and our stain is the perfect color pick-me-up for lips and cheeks. Glides on easily without drying for a healthy "outdoors" flush of color. Small enough to fit in your front jeans pocket. Essential enough to take everywhere. Blend lip and cheek stain over the apples of your cheeks for a naturally sheer look. And slip over lips for quick, easy color.

It is a gorgeous color and a gel formula so not at all drying. You can layer gloss over this too! |

Long ago I got a sample of her lip gloss, and it was the best lip gloss I've ever used, not really sure why, but it just was. Now I am not sure which to get, perhaps both |

Do any of these really "stain"? I've used the Vincent Longo before, but I didn't think the color really lasted all that long. |
