I finally caved and bought this stuff, since I got tired of waiting to see what the reviews would be like. The smell is lovely and the texture feels lovely coming out of the tube - nice and smooth and emollient, similar to Aveda's Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer but a bit less thick (I refer here to texture, NOT smell). Going on was smooth and detangling, and I left it on for a good 10-15 minutes while I took one of my more "intensive" showers that involved tons of other pampering. After rinsing it out my hair had a different feel than most conditioners - less of a cetyl alcohol "slip" feel, more of a true moisture feel.
But sadly, I did NOT like how this made my hair behave. I have very thick, coarse, wavy, and dryness-prone hair, and this made my hair sort of frizzed-out and straight but BIG. I wouldn't exactly say it weighed it down, but it sort of made it not-very-bouncy while also not taming frizz. It had a similar effect on my hair as John Masters Organics Citrus and Neroli Detangler, which I also had bad results with. So, unfortunately, this is not my thing, but it might be great for gals with a different hair texture than me. And for what it's worth, the next day I mixed about half this stuff and half Avocado Butter Treatment together and used THAT as a cleansing conditioner, and I LOVED it - but then, that's way too much oil for most people's hair, it's just that mine drinks it up. When I did that mix-combo, it helps weigh down my frizz, define my curls, and hydrate away, and I do get a bit of an oily look but it's okay for once in a while and I can make it work style-wise if I apply a hair powder like Bumble and Bumble on my bangs to sop up the grease.
So, for what it's worth, here's my review! How are other people liking this product? And more to the point for me, does anyone wanna swap for my twice-used one, since it really didn't exactly do wonders for me? PM if you're game, please. |

ginnielizz, Have you tried the John Masters Lavender & Avocado Intensive Conditioner? I am using it as a treatment. Think it is very much better than the Citrus & Neroli Detangler. |

Ya know, I haven't, but my hair tends to prefer deeper conditioning treatments anyway so I may just give that stuff a try eventually. I will probably see if I can't find somewhere to decant me a sample first though, just so I don't spend another $25 or whatever on a bottle that I use twice and then kick to the curb. |
