About a year ago, I had a really strong chemical peel, which left me with some spots of hyperpigmentation.
I have been told the only way to get rid of them is - LAZER. With all the products that are out there now, I'm sure there has to be one that is exceptional for this.
Please share........ |

I don't have a suggestion for you, but I'll be watching this thread for someone who might!!! I have a few spots that I'd like to get rid of & lasers are not an option for me - not the cost but the fear of ! |

Can any of your skin experts help on this - I am always confused:
Are there different ways to treat hyperpigmentation due to different reasons:
1) Acne scars 2) Sun Spots 3) Age marks
I am all lost in the jungle of whitening products ... |

My friend used to have quite many freckles on her face and she is so fair that it makes her freckles very obvious. She got this laser treatment about a year ago and I'd say the result's pretty amazing. It's me who noticed the change and asked, and she told me she's got this treatment. I heard that the skin would be more susceptible to sun damage after the treatment. |

My friend also had a laser treatment which got rid of her freckles. But they gradually reappear after a few months. It seems not a long term solution, costs aside. |

Well, apparently taking MSM supplement helps with pigment issues. I'm going to start taking it. There is a melasma forums/board that talks about getting rid of hyperpigmentation - you should check it out.

I did not know about the MSM! That is one great, safe, multi-purpose supplement. I've used it for a sore elbow and it took care of it. I told a friend, and it helped her sore knee. If it will help with my "maturity spots," I am going to start taking it again. A nurse friend recommended I get mine at fitnesslabs.com, and I did. Great stuff! |

I took MSM for several months two years ago, but it did not help my hyperpigmentation at all. For the first few weeks, I was looking at the mirror all the time trying to see some miracle. At one point, I thought a chuck of pigmentation was gone, but it was an illusion. When taking MSM, I got rashes in my other parts of the body easily, so eventually gave up MSM. I still have tons of MSM pills sitting on the shelf. At that time, I took mega dose of MSM (2g a day; I did started from smaller dosage and then built up to 2g). It made me feel sick by taking that much MSM, but I still took it because I wanted to get rid of the pigmentation. Now that I think about, I wonder if my GERD was developed due to the crazy mega dose of MSM I took two years ago. I started to have GERD a year and half ago. I used to joke about my iron stomach to my family and now I stomach is the worse in the family. Be careful when you take MSM. Do over do it like me. |

Everything affects each individual differently, that's for sure. My friend with the knee problem swears the MSM got rid of her GERD. Brother! |

I recently read several articles about GERD (my handicapped brother developed it due to a gastric volvulus - long story), and I was amazed that they claimed so many people suffer from it.
If you have GERD, don't lie down for AT LEAST an hour after eating. Avoid acidic, spicy and rich foods and beverages as well as carbonated drinks.
If you use OTC meds for it, be sure that you follow directions: some are to be taken before eating, others after. Meds for GERD can cause constipation or the other extreme - diarrhea.
Hiatal hernia is a major cause of GERD, and I was surprised that it's thought a large percentage of people over the age of 40 have one, so I suspect it may not be the MSM supplements. |
