ok, even workaholics need to cut loose sometime! where does everyone plan to go in the next few months or next year?
my husband's friend put a thought into my head - next March, Mediterranean cruise on a brand new ship. cheap rate but expensive airfare from Canada. 1st time visit for us. laughed it off at the time but now it sounds... |

My SO and I are currently saving up for a trip to Mykonos, Greece. From pictures and the travel channel, it looks like heaven on earth. |

I am always saving money in a pot for a vacation but hate to plan too much, we normally have an idea of dates and then go somewhere completely unplanned at the last minute, it's all very exciting and adventurous
I would love to go to Goa though and maybe a short break somewhere in Europe may be on the cards |

Since we can't really afford to go anywhere this year ... I will say the vacation I'd love to take if I could! I'd love to go to England and visit the old castles. I think that would be amazing and so beautiful!
At the most, this year we might drive up to Banff, Alberta for the day. That will be our mini vacation. |

OMG!! So many places to go and so little time (or money LOL) I have done lots of travelling but am never able to cure the bug so I am constantly planning my next trip. I was hoping to visit a friend out in BC this summer but if that doesn't happen than a major trip is definitely in the works for the end of the year. I usually like to take 3 weeks to a month off every year. I haven't gone anywhere yet so far this year and the travel itch is really getting to me. I'd love to go back to southern Africa as my first choice but will probably wait to do that next year with a friend. I'm thinking of possibly Ecuador and the Galapagos, or Australia and New Zealand, or back to see more of Peru or Mexico. It has to be some place warm as winter will be here before I know it. Maybe next summer I'll take a trip out to Greece and cruise the isles or possibly France. It's just to hard to decide with so many options. Will have to take it day by day and see where the wind takes me! |

Rosebud - you have to go to Goa! My BF and I spent three months travelling round SE Asia and India Dec-March and went to Goa twice. I would highly recommend Palolem, heaven on earth! We stayed in a wooden hut (very very basic)literally right on the beach. The sea was blue and warm, the sand is white and the palm trees are green. I often think about our time there, doing nothing but relaxing...We also stayed in Baga which is more commercial, but still fab! Anyway, I digress. This year we are travelling round Australia for three months, Nov-Feb. I'm supposed to be saving hard and not spending my money on Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel..... |

After I take the bar exam I'm going to South America for a Galapagos cruise and a trek to Macchu Pichu. Then it's over to SE Asia, probably Cambodia, Laos, VietNam for a few weeks, ending with a 2 week tour--Dehli to Kathmandu--with my dad.
At the end I am sure I will exhausted and totally broke... but I am SO excited!!! |

Just reading through this thread put me in a relaxed, vacation-y mood. I am going back home to visit my family in Massachusetts in August. Boring compared to most of the destinations mentioned here, but I can't wait! |

I hope to be going to Mexico before fall semester starts with my SO (around August 12-17) *fingers crossed*. I haven't been on a vacation for 5 years now, so it would be great to get away! We want to just get an all inclusive package and 'bum around' not doing anything for a week but eating . Sounds great to me!
Some other time, we would love to go to Europe (Lvov,Ukraine-> where I was born hence my screen name ). And just go to Germany, Paris, Austria, ETC. Australia sounds fun too! And so does Japan! But that will brobably be in another few years . |

CK, I take short term contracts and work very hard to save money for my trips! I am a nurse so I'm lucky in that I can leave a contract and pick another one up when I get back. This year my contract ends in October. Hopefully I'll extend it for a couple of weeks, then go away in November. When I get back in February I'll see what work is available in my area and go from there. It's not something I can do forever but I intend to make the most of it for now!! |

Rachel I think you have the right idea
I always think that traveling is the best experience, it puts everything into perspective, materialism just flies out of the window.
When I am away I don't care about clothes, skincare or anything.....as long as you have good company and a book that's all that matters!!
We can never decide on the right area in Goa, Palolem we think would be a little too quiet (but love the idea of white sand) and Baga would be a little too full on, we have lots of research still to do, I'd love to see the holiday photos
BCgirl Vegas is fantastic!!! |

I['m going to the Haliburton (2nd Muskoka)region of Ontario Canada. Great place to hike and soak up the peace and quite of beautiful Canadian nature after sizzling or freezing in the city for 11 months! |

a little closer to home, my quick jaunt getaway is the small city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. slower pace, turn of the century history, smiley people. if only the ferry prices would stop increasing b/c of fuel costs.
i've tried camping and all i can say is, it's a good thing i don't live in the frontier days. almost took my leg out while trying to chop fire wood |
