As much as I hate paypal, I still use it. Lately its REALLY been aggrevating me. A couple months ago I added a checking account to become verified, now whenever I purchase something it takes it out of my checking account and not from my credit card like I want. I searched and searched and can't find a way to correct this. I just don't like this access to my bank account... I'm tempted to remove it but I would rather just switch it around so it charges my credit card as the primary means of payment unless I specify. Why does this have to be so difficult? Does anyone know how to deal with this? I guess I can remove the bank account, but then the next time I need to be verified I have to wait 4 more days after I resign it back up... ugh. |

That's odd. Whenever I use paypal I get to choose which account I use - my bank or my visa. It shows up when you are sending money along with the payment details. Below payment details it says "source of funds" and there's a link to "more funding options" and you click on that to change whether you send the funds through your bank account, echeck or credit card. From what I recall if you change that then the next time it will automatically show up as your default until you change it again.

When you log on go to 'my profile'. You'll see the list to make the switches you want. Unless otherwise specified I think PayPal automatically defaults to the bank account. |

Actually I just checked to answer her question because that's what I thought too. But turns out you can have one PRIMARY bank account and one PRIMARY credit card, and I think that's what she meant when she said she removed her bank account. |

Under the line where it has your payment type as your primary, there is a link for other payment options.. This is where you want to go, to choose.. You will always have to have a primary, but you choose which one that will be, CC or bank account...
Also, when you use your Paypal, they ask what your back up sorce is, if the amount is denied.. I always just use the same one. Never had a problem... |

Thanks for all your help.. I figured it out! It just confused me how BOTH the bank account and credit card are primary and that I have to switch to the credit card every single time I make a purchase now.. I managed to see the small print where I click to make that change during the checkout process.. funding options... That has been bugging me for some time.. thanks everyone. |

This REALLY peeves me too. The second you add a checking account it is automatically set as your default payment. Each time you make a payment you have to switch it to credit card. If you make a change in your address or anything, it will RESET to bank account, so you always have to double check. I think this is a bad business practice because if you aren't careful you could end up bouncing checks... |

I don't use paypal anymore...stopped ebay and all that.
My account was compromised and they were very unwilling to help. Also, I purchased something and never received it...and had to file, but I never saw that money! Something because the person I bought it from "didn't have enough money in their account" to cover my loss.
I didn't get anything. After that I stopped paypal altogether.
Nope. No more.
Helped me curb my spending on ebay anyway.
Sigh.
I hope no one ever has the problems I did!
I wouldn't wish that mess on anyone! |
