Anyone use this cream on a regular basis? I have been using for 2 weeks and find it cleans the pores nicely. I am not sure about using for a moisturizer. |

Albolene Cleanser? Or you said "cream". I see on makeupalley it has a rating of 91%. So you have peaked my curiousity. Can you give more details? |

It's called "Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser". It's primary use is for makeup removal. You spread it on your face and then tissue off.
It looks and feels like a thinner version of vaseline. It's awesome for removing mascara + makeup.
Whenever I use it, I have to follow with a regular foaming cleanser to get rid of the greasy film.
It's not meant to be left on the skin.

After applying to my face, I wipe off with moist wipes. I usually just shower and let water run over my face and my skin is very moist and smooth. The pores in my face have been cleaned nicely. This is an A+ product for me and not expensive. |

I purchased last night, thought what the heck! It is very much like vaseline, just dissolved better, but very much feels like it while applying. I am really leary to put all over my face, so I am going to do a test starting on my nose, and forehead. I am reading here and on MUA that it clears and decongests pores, how if it is an oil? I get lots and lots of clogged pores, you know the white stringy stuff that you can squeeze from your pores daily. I am told that it is oil build p and regular cleansers do not clear this, but "oils" do. How? Also I read that mineral oil can aggravate acne prone skin? Anyone that can share more information would be greatly appreciated. |

I think the way this works is that when applied on the skin it softens the built up sebum along with dirt and makeup, allowing it all to be wiped away when tissued off. As far as using it on acne prone skin, it would be important to be sure every trace is removed, before applying your usual serums, creams etc.
As far as mineral oil goes, I think it has got a bad rap all along. I know that I always avoided it, because the assumption I made was that it clogged the pores and didn't allow the skin to *breathe*.
The good thing about creams, lotions etc that contain mineral oil, is that if they are applied as a last step, (after actives), my common sense tells me that it would tend to *seal* in the active, allowing it to penetrate the skin rather than dissipate.... This is only my humble opinion though, I'm certainly not an authority on it...
With all that said, I also feel, that cosmetics containing mineral oil, wouldn't be something I would want to use each and every day, because my feeling is that it would trap the impurities under the skin if constantly used.. Again, only my .2 worth. |

Thanks Kassy_A
Soungs logical, but what do I know. So I have a "test" that I am doing with this, and I want to see if anyone has thoughts on it. So today I decided to skip my trial of just doing this cleanser on my nose and forehead, I decided to do my whole face....
So, I scooped some out and massaged it into my face...concentrating on my clogged pore areas of my face. After massaging in and then tissuing it off, it seems like some of the clogged pores on my nose were "closer" to the surface and easily extracted. Now question, is this just my imagination, or do you think that this product helped bring some of these to the surface? I am thinking that the theory of the oils actually breaking down the sebum maybe helped bring it to the surface? Also do you think that this may cause some purging? I really want to find something that helps my pores not get so clogged. I do not where makeup, only some concealer on my blemishes, but really it does not matter what cleansing or cleaning products I use, my pores always get clogged and makes my skin look bumpy. I would love to find a product that helps my pores not get clogged, and believe me- I have tried so many products to list, but using an oil like this I have not done......with the exception of jojoba oil, which did not really work for me..... |

Everything you described is exactly what should happen in a perfect world....Your skin seems to like it.
If you haven't already done so, take a look at this thread on OCM (oil cleansing method).. It's from a year ago, but has great information that I think you would get a lot out of. Lots of people swear by this method and get wonderful results, others not so much.. But you might be in the former group..
Check it out:

Sorry another question about Albolene. I have used it twice now (I think I might try the OCM method, using Jojoba oil (sp), but at any rate, I have used the Albolene twice now, and my question is....it is extremely oily, but I do follow up with my regular cleanser, which is not drying...but my skin seems extremely dry today after using twice now. My skin is not extremely oily, but I am wondering is the Albolene taking out all my "natural" oils? I did not think it was suppose to do that? Just curious.....not sure if I will continue or move onto to OCM... |

Anytime I have used Albolene, I found it left my skin very moist.
Did you use a toner? I can't use toner, because they leave my skin too parched. Maybe you could try just using a warm/hot cloth, rather than a cleanser after the Albolene, and see if that does the trick. |

Hi, no I do not use toners at all. I find that they are too drying, regardless of which one I use. I am nervous about not using a cleanser after the fact, only because the two times I have used the Albolene(I use it at night), and followed up with my cleanser, my skin feels a little greasy still, and I don't like that feeling...I am afraid if I do not use a cleanser it will feel real gross...but it just seems strange that it is drying my skin.....this stuff is more "luby" than any moisturizer I have ever put on my face...maybe my skin is just going through something that is causing it to be dry, maybe it has nothing to do with the Albolene. |

Hi all~ I am done officially done. I started using this on the 3rd of July and only used it in the evenings and then I used a cleanser after the fact, since I could not handle the feeling of the grease on my face...but long story short, I got home tonight and looked in the mirror...what to my surprise did I find...6 yes 6 blackheads. Now keep in mind that I can count on one hand how many blackheads I have had my whole life, which baffles me since I have so many clogged pores, how do I get no blackheads, but I had them today. They were surface, so I was able to remove all of them but one...but it has to be this Albolene cleanser causing it. I thought I read on MUA that some of the reviewers said they got blackheads, but I DID, so the stuff went in the trash today!!! $12 down the drain, but hey it could have been more money right? |

For these "cream cleansers" they are part of a two step cleansing routine, so it is definitely recommended to remove the cream with a good second cleanser which either foams or emulsifies completely with oils. If you are experiencing black heads it may be you are not removing the cream sufficiently with the second step cleansing. |

Albolene Cream is the old industry standby for removing theater makeup. Wipe it on, tissue off -- then, yes, you must follow with another cleanser, to get the Albolene residue off.
Albolene is best used as a makeup remover, not a facial cleanser.
I used it long ago when I was playing a frog in Alice in Wonderland. My pores would purge GREEN goo. Lovely, eh?
If you are acne or congested skin-prone, Albolene is not recommended at all.
The OCM method does help with congested pores. Think of a measuring cup with spoonful of dirty lard in it. To get the lard out, H2O by itself would be useless. H2O with detergent and elbow grease might work. Alcohol would work -- a LOT of alcohol, that is. But your best bet is to pour oil into the cup, which will loosen the lard and then it will slip out easily.
Jojoba oil is not a recommended oil for oil cleansing. Olive oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, a touch of castor oil. See the threads mentioned for all the recipes.
OCM WILL balance your skin.
Albolene will take off green makeup, but is not intended to clean out your pores. |

It has been more than three weeks since I started using Albolene cleanser. The pores on my face have purged quite a bit. I had some whiteheads that came to the surface and came out, some that I had for years. I apply the cleaner and wash off in the shower with a washcloth. The warm water and cleanser seem to do the trick. Afterwards, I apply some emu oil and my skin is moist. I am very, very pleased with this product. |

Ad far as my use of the Albolene cleanser, I did clean it off with a tissue, then a warm rag and followed up with a foamy cleaner, so sounds like I did everything correctly. I so not have acne prone skin, I just get clogged pores rather easy. But I am through...maybe it is just a purge, which includes three large cystic zits on my chin now (and I never get these), so it is the Albolene. Enough is enough for me......I am through! Not sure I am starting the OCM method yet either...more oil on my skin after all this that Albolene has created? I need time to recover from this mess! |
