Hi everyone. I need some serious help with my pores, and have been searching and searching and narrowed it down to these two...dermadoctor picture porefect, or paulas choice 2 percent lotion. I was wondering if either of those would be suitable seems I have a reddened face, somewhat, (I think ddf is helping with that though) I just don't want to make my face super red and the dermadoctor has retinol in it. What do you think? |

Do you mean you have clogged pores? Or are they open and very noticeable? I've been using Paulas choice 2% BHA, but the liquid one, and I haven't found it too harsh. Though I haven't been using it over my entire face, just around my nose and cheeks. I'm prone to redness aswell, especially in those areas. Whilst the BHA hasn't made my redness worse, it hasn't done anything to help it either. It has helped clear my pores though. Maybe intially you'll get some redness, especially with the added retinol, I don't know the percentage in the Dermadoctor one. |

No, their not clogged, just open and I know they can never close, but I thought somethings could help them appear smaller, like exfoliation etc. |

I'll be watching this thread as I have similar problems with the pores on my cheeks. I can't figure out why over the last 5 or so years they are now so open and large. I've never had this problem before, although I know part of it is from my skin "slack". When I pull my skin tight towards my hairline most of them disappear. However, I'd like to find something to minimize them without wearing my hair in a pain killing pony tail!
So far I've tried green cream (6) and various glycolic products along with a few salicylic acid face washes and nothing helps. Retin-A micro might have helped a bit but my face was so red and irritated I never noticed what the pores were doing. I'd like to find something that doesn't just temporarily minimize them (i.e. clay/peel masks) but that I can use on a daily basis to keep them minimized.
For reference I have normal to dry (but sometimes combo) skin. |

Have you tried Mandelic Acid? It seems to be a popular one with many people. I have been using it for a few weeks and agree that it did diminish the size of my pores. This effect is while you have it on, I don't believe it will help when not been used. |

I use it to spot treat. It does work, but makes you peel in that spot as well (with sensitive skin). It's also great with scar revision. |

No, I haven't tried that one but I've seen it mentioned by several. What strenghts are available, where do you buy it and how is it typically used (in a normal routine)? |

Hey razinkane - one thing you might try if you haven't already is an aspirin mask. My pores are VERY noticeable and I did an aspirin mask last night for the first time. When I woke up this morning, my pores were SO SMALL I seriously NEVER thought they'd EVER be that small again. You almost couldn't see them. My makeup looks fantastic today! |

I saw a WEB ad with pics for a product containing glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids in it claiming real pore reduction. For the past three weeks I've been spot treating two areas on my face (nose with one really large pore and two check areas) that I had not been using peels on. I am using the DDF 12.5% glycolic lotion that I've doctored a bit. There is definately a reduction of the pore on my nose. I will continue and report back if I note more improvement. |

I have used the aspirin mask, it made my skin soft and less red, but no pore reduction.
I have looked at mandelic acid, ALOT, but with mixed reviews I can't decide. I don't want to peel either (gosh, I shouldn't be so picky should I) I agree with Tamgirl though, I want something that you can use everyday besides a mask. The b kamins earth mask was great, but the effects wear off after a while, and if you are going to use it I think you should in the morning, your skin just looks really good afterwards. I thought it was a waste I used it at night.
Tamgirl, I think the strenghts that are available are 10 or 15 percent but they suggest you start with the 10. You can either get vivant or nucelle I think. I don't know what other brands their are though. |

I found that I had large pores on my cheeks recently, but I have switched to using almost exclusively Dr. Haushka products, and they have really improved. I think that the cleansing cream has made the most difference for me, and I think that the rejeuvenating mask has helped as well. |

I use masks with glycolic acid but recently heard that argeline works on reducing pore size and have been using PSF brow tox which contains that and I have noticed that my skin texture looks refined...mind you I dont have overly large pores as always had rather dry skin but really did notice a difference with that product (I have raved about it on a few other posts)... |

I would keep the peels going..been hearing good things in the forum about juice green apple peel...womder if anyone knows if that works on pores? |

I think I read somewhere that the biggest contributing factors (and why they are most noticable on the cheeks and nose) is that those areas get the most direct sunlight.
I used this Aubrey Sea Buckthorn lotion for a month and noticed my pores seemed larger after. I didn't break out, but, it seemed to make the skin oilier or something there :/
I have two very large pores on my right cheek from clogging caused from La Mer when I was in college. That's what I get for trying to prevent those nasal-labial folds
What's made a difference for me is a peel of some sort, clay masks and copper peptides/ylang-ylang oil.
I'll have to look into that mandelic acid.
FYI - The Porefection from Dermdoctor seemed to work really well the first night I tried it and not so much after that. |

Well, I wouldn't want to use it on my cheeks would I? I don't want them to sag. I have enough going on already. |

I got my mama lotion from skincarerx.com. I got several samples at it lasts forever. It takes a couple of days and then the dead skin peels off. |

Annie, does mama lotion irritate your rosecea? |

I don't use it around any area that has rosacea. My only real area of rosacea is my cheeks. I just spot use it on old scars and a line or 2. |
