I have been looking for the perfect chocolate body scrub for some time now, and I think I finally found it! Shea Terre Organics Dark Chocolate Cocoa Bean body scrub is scented with real chocolate, so it smells like really yummy brownie batter. It does a great job of exfoliating, and best of all, it leaves my skin soft and smooth but NOT greasy.
This scrub can be purchased atwww.sheaterraorganics.com . It's $14 for a 6 oz jar. Shea Terra Organics was a really great company to order from--- they shipped quickly, and included generous free samples of their organic rooibos tea and Morraccan Mud. Also, if you use the code augustdeal before August 18, you can get $7 off a $25 order.
Ingredients: organic sugar, chocolate liquor, spring water, shea butter, vegetable emulsifying wax, cocoa nibs, vanilla extract, phenoxyethanol, capryl glycol |

Liz, I had a look at their website. Everything sounds very nice. Your description of the Dark Chocolate Cocoa Bean Body Scrub was cruel. I am trying desperately to diet. My mouth starting watering for brownies. Really, thanks for the review. They look like nice, quality products. |

Yeah, Liz, it is a nice company and has great smelling stuff for those of us who are foodies!! Their "Amazing Moisture Remedy Creme" smells like lemon pudding and can be used head to toe, if you're looking for something to take on a vacation and have room for only one thing. Nice feel and sinks in fast.
Now I'm gonna smell like a lemon-frosted brownie! |

Update: Ok, I am officially addicted!!! The rich scent of the chocolate liquor in this scrub beats artifical scents hands-down. It honestly smells like I'm baking brownies right there in my shower! I wish they would come out with a matching scent in their other products like Silk Body Lotion, Shea Body spray, etc. Has anyone tried their Nubian Milk Chocolate Body Butter? That's next on my list! |

Yet another update: I have to admit, I've been busy lately and so I've been lazy about taking care of my feet. I really noticed how bad they had gotten when I was in bed one night and noticed that the rough skin on my feet kept catching on my silk comforter!! The next day in the shower I scrubbed my feet down with this wonderful scrub, and then finished up with a spritz of Shea Terra Organic's Shea Body Spray. (Don't forget to spritz the tops of your toes, ladies! Let that good oil soak into your nails and cuticles so your pedicure will last longer!) After my shower I noticed my feet were completely transformed with no rough patches to be found. Bravo, Shea Terra Organics! |

Thx, manslayerliz!!
I've just tried to order online but when i checked out, the "shipping fee" column is "zero"! as i am living overseas and am sure shipping will be much higher (sometimes even more than the price of the products!), i prefer to know my total cost before i make the purchase! so i've just emailed them asking for the shipping charges first. hope they will get back to me soon! |

Jira, I have the Madagascar Vanilla Shea body spray, and you're right, it's SUCH a yummy fragrance! Whenever I wear it to bed my husband is so happy--- he says it smells like vanilla bean ice cream and vanilla pudding, LOL!
BTW, there's a new Shea Terra coupon, ladies! Enter US5 for $5 off a $20 order. |

Mmmm, okay, I held off when I first saw you post about this, but now I'm hooked. And this times nicely with my running out of body wash. But I'm concerned that the Ph of their body washes is going to be pretty high, since they do seem to be soap-based. Has anyone tried them, and if so, can you verify whether you find them drying? (What I'm specifically talking about are the shower cremes.)
Regardless, I think I'll be making an order. I'm a sucker for super-emollient organic body stuff, and also a sucker for rich warm scents like vanilla and chocolate, so this is just too much temptation for me to resist. Thanks/curse you, liz! (The curses come only from my Visa, not me.) |

They haven't gotten back to me about the shipping charges or the Canadian distributors. I sent the email over a week ago. |

Hi all! Well, since no one has heard about international shipping yet, I took the initiative and called customer service this morning. I'm under the impression that this is a very small company, and they've been kind of overwhelmed with the recent influx of orders because of media coverage, etc. I believe they are working on adding more phone lines, making improvements, etc, so I think things should start to get better soon. In the meantime, I was told that while international shipping IS available, it takes a month or more because they have to ship it from USPS instead of using UPS like they usually do. Again, I think this is something they are working on improving, and in the meantime, I'd be happy to CP goodies for any international ladies who are interested, since I'm planning on ordering again soon anyway.^-^ |

That, and, I'll be traveling to the UK on September 20th, so if people can get reeeeeaaaally quickly together about things, I could potentially do a CP for you Brits. But orders would need to be placed pretty much TODAY to ensure they arrive on time to me, so please PM me right away if anyone in the UK is interested. Thanks! |

Hi nickie, I've heard the vanilla range from TBS is very kind. Good for sensitive skin as yours. It is not expensive. |

So I finally got my order yesterday or the day before, and I've had a chance to try out both the African Black Soap body wash and the other fruity shower cream (or Crème, as they'd have you put it) as well as the oil spray. I'll review all three here, but first let me say about BOTH of the cleansers - these are most definitely liquid SOAPS and not just "body washes", so keep in mind that the pH is pretty high, and they may be drying or irritating to some skins.
African Black Soap with Lemongrass: This stuff is VERY strongly scented! I find it quite energizing and deodorizing, but the scent is surprisingly powerful and it seems to linger on skin quite a bit. Great for keeping mosquitoes away, but not necessarily great for layering non-citrusy fragrances. I think they had an unscented version too, though.
It produces a nice mild but foamy lather, and it has what seem to be tiny chunks of the ash they use to make it. It left a tiny bit of a tacky/filmy feeling on the skin like most true soaps tend to do, but it wasn't overly drying or irritating.
Rainforest Mango Papaya Shea Butter Shower Crème: This stuff smells delightful, and is slightly richer and creamier than the black soap. However, it's still most definitely a soap, and still a tad drying/high pH on the skin. It smells divine and combined nicely with the vanilla oil spray I got, so that was lovely. I also tried shaving with this stuff just to see how it would hold up, and I found it did much better than Dr. Bronner's, which is the other liquid soap I sometimes use. With Dr. B soap, I will soap up my whole lower leg from toes to knee, and if I start on my shins by the time I start shaving the back of my calf, the soap has lost its "slip" and I have to re-soap to finish. Not so with this stuff - it stayed slick and bubbly right through until I was ready to rinse it off.
Madagascar Vanilla Shea Body Spray: This stuff was a lovely body oil, but it didn't really seem to be beneficial as a spray, because it sprayed in a very targeted line rather than a mist. So I just had to spray it in my hand and rub it in like I would with any other body oil. Not sure if I just got a crappy bottle or what, and it's not a big problem, but just something to mention for those folks who like the spray-on aspect. Also, it contains "fractionated" shea oil, which surprises and confuses me - isn't this another term for "hydrogenated"? And if so, how is it that they're turning a butter into a liquid, since most hydrogenated oils are a liquid turned solid, à la vegetable oil --> Crisco? Anyway, this is something that has always confused me, but furthermore I think that more refined oils like that are more free-radical generating, so I worry a little bit that this "fractionated" oil is actually worse for your skin. Hm, wait.
No.
Now I looked up the Wikipedia entries for Hydrogenation and Fractionation and they don't seem similar at all. I wonder what gave me that idea? It was definitely something I read... anyway. I'd love to hear if anyone thinks fractionation in oils is not ideal for the skin, but seeing as how it's not even my facial skin I'm applying this stuff to, I'm not that worried about it.
...Back on track... so there are my reviews, haha. Hope this helps! |

Upon coming across this thread, I went on their website and just could not resist all their wonderful description of their products especially when there is something like rare ingredients from far away Africa. (i'm just a weak person when come to skin/body care). I went ahead and pressed order for 5/6 products for over US 80.00.Strange that there was no shipment costs charged to my order at the final stage of payment. ( I am not in US or CANADA).
Ok, I did not place much hope that everything will be smooth. I was anticipating that there might possibly be an follow up e-mail in the next day or two to inform cancelling of order.
12 hours later, I received phone call from my credit card company to confirm the payment. Again, at that point of time, I still had my doubts that they will cancel shipment.I had since sent 2 e-mails to them for confirmation of shipment.
After a week or so, I recived e-mail from them informing shipment on the way to my place. It was a pleasant surprise after not putting too much hope on their service.
Well, I am still waiting for the order to arrive. It may take up another week. Will keep you posted on the products. |
