Calling all herbalist!!
I am really tired at the moment and am having a bit (not too bad) trouble sleeping and. As in I keep waking up and I am also quite stressed I was thinking of taking some ginseng for the fatigue and valerian to help me sleep and clam me down (was thinking of taking it through the day too not just at night).
Can I take the two together? If not any suggestions? I am also taking a multivit.
I would really appreciate your comments!! |

I alternate between Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea (the one with valerian root, sleepytime EXTRA, is sort of a ripoff as it costs more, and doesn't make me any "sleepier") and Yogi Tea's Calming blend. Both are basically chamomile teas, but the Yogi Tea isn't a "sleepy" blend, as it supposed to just relax your nerves and cool down your system.
During the day, why not take B vitamins? |

Yes taking the two should be fine as long as you keep the Valarian to evenings and Ginseng to mornings.
My MIL has used Valarian with good results and my SO positively loved Ginseng which will also help with weight loss as it speeds up the metabolism.
The only thing to be careful of is if you are taking the Contraceptive pill then both Ginseng and Valarian can interfere with it.
Also I love Badger Sleep Balm, I use at night to moisturise my hands and it sends me to sleep.
In the winter a mug of hot chocolate laced with Rum or Brandy does the job
If you are really in need of a good nights sleep then the old anti-histamins work wonders, yes the drowsy ones that nobody likes |
