From my HB's last visit back home (which is Provance/France) he brought me lots of lavender things, also a small bottle of pure lavender oil of medical quality. Does anybody knows any application of this in skincare ? what should/can/may i do with it ?
as always, thanks for help i.a. |

That sounds wonderful... although I really not a full bottle on what you can use it for. Good luck! |

Perhaps you should check out the DIY threads for some recipes so you can find out what you can mix your oil with. I think you can easily add it to your aspirin mask or any clay mask that you use or it would be a great addition for any hydrosols to make a spritzer/toner.

Lavender is a fantastic Oil, for this particular quality I suggest you do a search on Google for how to mix it.
Laveneder is good for all skin ailments, sunburn, bites, insomnia, nerves, relaxation.... |

well, he brought me lots of different concentrations and qualities of the oil. this particular one with the med. grade seems to be something precious. He's worried about my EDS-* spam alert * and hoped to push my attention somewhere else - he couldn't know that i'll run directly to the EDSS-forum with it t. . . |

i'm addicted to pure lavender oil and use it all the time. i put it in my bath, dab it on neat to stop the itch of my multitudes of mosquito bites, mix it with my moisturiser of the moment if my face is being red and cranky, put a sprikle on the pillow if i'm having trouble sleeping, etc. the number one reason for always having lavender is BURNS. if you put it on neat right after burning yourself it takes away a majority of the pain and almost guarantees you will not blister. the trick is to keep on applying the first day or two (or as long as it pains you). don't be stingy -- it won't damage surrounding healthy tissue. it is miraculous and the one oil everyone should have on hand! |

yes, yes, I agree... wonderful stuff.
Mozzie bites, sunburn, cooking burns, um.. even when I burned hubby's skin with Nair (yes, yes, dont tell me, I know.. DONT USE NAIR)..
behind the ear to help you sleep.. use in the plane to relax yourself (or wave it under the nose of the screaming child beside you)..
I loev, love, love Lavender oil! |

From my experience with aromatherapy, Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils and one of the only, if not the only, oil you can apply directly to the skin. (I don't remember if it's the only one, for some reason I have it in my head that it is, but that doesn't mean much! ) |

A big bottle of lavender oil is the one thing I can't do without!!! I do use it a little bit for skincare for blemishes and spritz it with water on my face for refreshing. But I mainly use it around the house, it's a disinfectant and it smells delicious! I wipe kitchen surfaces with it, I put it on the floor cloths of my Polti steam cleaner, I wipe wooden furniture with it, I put 5-10 drops in the softening cycle of my washing machine, I squirt a mixture on my balcony plants to keep the buggies away..list goes on..and on..and on..love the stuff |

OMG, Ladies thank you, you're lovely !
I didn't know I can use it ... well, for almost everything. There is one with lower concentration in a pump-bottle - then i guess i can use it as toner, probably. The another one i'll try for my bath. And the med grade, i'll add a drop to my OCM. Sounds interesting. |

I already use it for blemishes, but you've come up with some really fantastic household ideas there, Daisy. I'll be putting some on my Polti cloths next time I clean the kitchen floor! |

Lavender is a fantastic oil and one of the most versatile. There are tons of uses for Lavender oil. Check out some aromatherapy books to find out the most effective ways to use it. I recommend books from Julia Lawless as they are easy to find and quite comprehensive. I also picked up "The Aromatherapy Bible" (can't remember the authors)a while back which is a handy pocket book style packed full of lots of great info. Beware of the many useless aromatherapy books out there as they can give bad and even unsafe info at times. If you would like any more book recommendations, just let me know. I'll be happy to go through my library of books and share my favs. |

The holiday thread just made me think of this. My SO always insists we pack the Lavender essencial oil because of it's many uses.
As well as being part of our first aid kit, he also likes to put a few drops in the room air vents to cover any musty smells and bless him, he likes to sprinkle on his pillow to help him sleep at night |

OMG CANT live without lavender...so funny just made my bed and sprinkled some on my sheets (my boy cat giving me bad looks...though he doesnt hate it he does prefer I dont do that)
but its fab for everything that everyone has mentioned and yes the best thing for burns!!!! (including sunburn) cant travel without it...keep it in my bag (in a small spray bottle)on rashes bruises bites stings to spray around a metro car when people insist on coughing with their mouths open
its so soothing and gentle you use it directly on skin (which you cant do for most other oils)..you can throw away chemical products and if you just have lavender (and tea tree) the jobs they can perform are endless! oh and a drop in some honey and hot water is a soothing drink too |

Thanks la vie en rose - I just tried lavendar on mosquito bites, and it worked really well (which was a good thing since I somehow succeeded in getting a bite on my upper inner thigh and it would not have been a great idea to go around scratching it). |
