I know I should wash after exercise to get rid of what has been 'sweated out' but I though I read somewhere to do it before too. What do you all do? If I wash before my face will feel tight without something on it. And that could defeat the purpose anyway. - Michele |

The point of washing or bathing before you work out is to avoid build up and debris from penetrating your skin. When we exercise our body temperature rises and our pores open allowing us to sweat. This opening of our pores, while allowing stuff to get out, also allows more bacteria to get into our skin. So the cleaner our skin before sweating, the cleaner it will be afterwards. It's kind of the same theory about showering before a workout to get rid of odour causing bacteria which would make us all smelly when we sweat. LOL |

If I'm wearing makeup I wash my face before exercising, but always put on sunscreen before I go out (if I'm exercising outdoors) or moisturiser if indoors. I can't stand that tight feeling, makes me feel like my face is going to crack. That way, most of the dirt from the day is not on my skin. |
