Well, it's taken a few years for me to find out what works for over 35+ skin, that's tanned and easily hyperpigments.
I did a lot of research and self testing and finally found a good group that works, but I can't say it's going to be for everyone, but in the end, it is working for me. I share it below in case you're interested in any of these products.
1. Amino Genesis: 1RRC Really Really Clean. I break out with a lot of acne from time to time and this cleanser (use with a soft facecloth and do it twice) really works for me. I love the smell and the after feel too.
...if you have the Zeno Acne Treatment Device, use it here......
2. Toner - Pick a toner that works for you, currently I am Biolements Equalizer with a cotton pad. I use both sides, basically again, do it twice.
3. Janson Beckett: AH3 Facial Skin Prep. I firmly believe this helps with the routine I do and refuse to get rid of it. I follow it with Vitamin C as below.
4. AlphaDerma: Vitamin C&C Facial Serum. I find I like the smell, feel and coverage of this serum better than Vivier or Neostrata. This product has worked amazing, I won't give it up either.
5. Clear Hyper-Pigmentation: I personally have chosen to use both Neostrata HQ and Ultraquin, leaving about 2 1/2 minutes between applications. The glycolic acid and the hydroquinone work amazingly well together for me and I won't give this up either because my acne scars produce such bad hyperpigmentation. This is about a 12 week step that must be repeated as necessary and you have to be committed to this step.
>You can skip this next one because the Neostrata HQ has the exfoliating properties this cream would also perform.<<<
6. Exfoliating Cream: Daytime matifying renewal fluid by Neostrata.
7. PHAdvantage: Kinetin Ultra. I find having Kinetin in my daily skin routine really offset's some the day's damage and reduces the exfoliating irritations.
8. Acne Topical Lotion/Creme/Gel: Whatever you use or may be prescribed, put it on here. Small doses at first to see how it fits in with all the skincare you are doing (spot treatment best).
9. (Bare Escentuals) bareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper. Use this if you are using Bare Escentuals make up....
10. Moisturizer: Use what you think works best for you but I think the Vivier Daily Moisturizing Cream with SPF 15 works just fine.
11. 30 SPF Sunscreen: Always make sure to walk out with at least SPF30 to prevent age spots and other sun damage.
Then I start to add the bare escentuals makeup (powders) with the Keep it Simple process.
I have noticed an amazing difference in my skin and the final product that helps my breakouts stay under control is the:
ZENO ACNE TREATMENT DEVICE |

Well, it's been a month now since I started this regime, which some dermatologist eluded to in terms of types of things to do, not products, and I have to admit...it's doing great. I did have 1 or 2 small breakouts, which is normal as things start to fix themselves, and I did get some irritation, but again, that's to be expected as your sluffing off dead layers of skin that prefer to stay there. BUT, on the positive side, I can't believe how evenly toned my skin is becoming, how much smaller my pores are looking, and how some small insets I had in my skin (from acne scars) are plumping up. If this is what I look like after a month, I can't wait to see the full effect after the final last 2 months.
No pain no gain I say!
I really love that cleanser (Really Really Clean from AminoGenesis) and the Vitamin C/Facial Prep serums from AlphaDerma/Janson Becketts. |

Well, I did finish my regime and I was amazed at the results. Patience mostly that was required and drinking lots and lots of water, herbal teas, and trying to avoid sugars and fats where possible helped too. I know they say diet doesn't lead to acne, but I find skin is the biggest organ so it must need tender loving care.
I have switched from the Jason Beckett product line to the Cellex-C products as I found my skin was just getting used to those and needed a change. That's not a bad thing to do, same ideas, just different formulations.
I also can't live without the Zeno device!
When I really break out (hormonal and of course major stress/overtired with stress), I do use a new (new to me) product "emerginC Dessicator Drying Lotion (tinted)" as I have to say, it really dries the cystic acne that I get (cystic acne is the worst and hardest to treat sadly). |
