1. How to convert oily, acne prone cheeks & dry chin/forehead into baby soft, smooth skin?
2. How to convert normal-dry skin on body into smooth, soft skin?
- It seems almost impossible to have smooth, soft skin when you are prone to breakouts since most products cause dryness, further breakouts or greasiness.
- Also, I read many of the members' delicious DIY body masks and would like to know which ingredient(s) is essential for super-soft skin on body without making skin greasy.
Any suggestions on masks/scrubs/etc. are welcome. Thanks a million!
Angel
PS: hope it is ok to post a DIY question here. |

I find that oat and almond based cleansers like Dr H CC and Jurlique face wash cream really help with blocked pores/oiliness and make your skin wonderfully soft.
I did a DIY version, with mainly oats (avoided the almond grits) and put it through a coffee grinder about 3 times until it was really fine. If you use oat + rich vegetable oil mixture + glycerine mixture as a mask/cleanser, it really does leave your skin soft.
Even though I have oily skin, I don't find applying oil, straight or mixed, leaves it feeling greasy.
I use microdermabrasion crystals as a weekly exfoliant, it is the only stuff that is fine enough to get rid of dead skin build up for me.

You may find Ylang Ylang oil may help to balance your skin. Also a good cleanser, something not too drying. I found using the Dr H Night Conditioner Ampules really helpful with sorting my skin out when it was particulary bad. Lots of good reviews on here about this product. Also using a peel like the Juice Beauty Green Apple, or the PSF Pumpkin Peel has helped smooth my skin and makes it really soft.
I started using a body brush daily before showering and after a month or so it definitely makes a world of difference. I don't have to exfoliate my body so often and it's a really cheap way of keeping your skin in good condition. |

SweetAngel,
What products are you using now and what are your pores like? Are they large at all and if so, where are your large pores located on your face in relation to your nose and eyes?
Take care.

I feel you should give PSF products over here on EDS a try. They're pretty affordable! |

Wow! The best thing abt. this forum is all the nice advice u get.
Bosoxy, currently I use mostly Olay & Loreal products since they are easy to buy from Walmart when I go grocery shopping
During the day I use:
- dermatologist prescribed acne cream (forget name now) followed by
- Olay moisturizer w/out oil, & then,
- Neutrogena SPF 45, & finally
- Jane Iredale powder foundation
During the night I use:
- dermatologist prescribed acne cream,
- Olay moisturizer w/out oil,
- Fair & Lovely anti-marks cream (for acne scars)
On weekends I exfoliate with Murad's exfoliating cleanser which leaves my skin looking fresh, but not soft.
The pores are on my nose & cheeks area that is close to the nose. I also have "ice-pick" scars from acne attacks.
I don't use anything on my body except Dove body wash. |

Thanks a lot for your replies. I think a lot of people on this forum are raving about the pumpkin & green apple peels & PSF products. Must consider those for sure. The idea of oats & almonds on my face sounds delicious too Boy am I going to be busy this weekend |

Hi Sweet Angel!
From the area of your pores it sounds like you skin is dry or on the dry side.
I have used Olay cleansers and moisturizers in the past and found the washes to be a bit on the drying side and the moisturizers not to be enough for me.
You may want to consider switching your wash or your moisturizer for something more hydrating and see how that works for you.
I like Ice Elements, but you are not going to be able to pick that up at your corner store... Maybe look for a non foaming light cleanser to start... maybe even a cream cleanser.
When you wash, do you get a tight and dry feeling?
You also might want to consider adding a gentle exfoliation method to clear away surface skin cells which will enhance the effects of the items that you are using as you will get a better penetration into the skin.
Since you have some acne scarring you might want to consider an at home microdermabrasion. From what I understand most of the ones sold for in home use are pretty similar, so the Neutragena one might be a good choice for you since you could probably pick it up at the same store where you purchase your other Neutragena products.
If you ever want to consider purchasing online, check out the Ice Elements site as I am sure that adding in the cleanser, anti-aging serum and moisturizer to your regimin would help balance out your skin.
As for your body, I would say that Dove is probably a good pic for department store body washes. Do you use a lotion too?
You may want to add a DIY sugar scrub... You could make up a simple batch with brown or white sugar and olive oil... or get fancy and add other oils, glycerin, ground coffee, aloe, essential oils, etc.
You may also want to use exfoliation gloves of a shower pouff for application of your body wash to exfoliate as you wash. The pouff will exfoliate a bit... the gloves much more. I find the gloves too harsh for everyday use for myself, but do use them occassionally.
My favorite body wash and lotion of choice is by Garden Botanika, which is also online... They do have some specials going on if you want to have a look and see if you might want to try one... The Cantalope scent body wash is divine... the Pina Colada or Berries wash and lotion are also yummy smelling, and all of the 3 are on sale at super low prices.
Take care.
