I'm talkin abt. the lines from either side of the nose to the chin & deep lines on my chin when I smile/laugh. I got these from acne products that dried up my skin, but nothing seems to help minimize these lines.
Any recommendations on anti-aging/anti-wrinkle & anti clogging/anti greasy "magic stuff" for someone under 30 yrs. of age?
I have slightly oily cheeks & nose (acne prone), but dry forehead & chin (also acne prone). 5% & 10% Vit C serums usu. compound the problem.

This is much more than a cream, but you might consider TCA peels. I wrote about this on another thread here: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=15268
The topic was about lines under the eyes but it works for all over facial skin. I'll be 35 in 3 weeks and I've spent the past 9 years using a large range of creams, serums, IPL treatments, Botox, Glycolics etc. The only treatment that has worked for me is TCA. I'll rave about it to anyone. |

Being super dry too I've found HA serum & an oil mixture has helped me tremendously (currently, Rosehip, Evening Primrose & Cammelia with a few drops of Frankincense EO). My skin just drinks it in. I then spritz with the PSF O2 serum then my moisturizer.
Others suggestions are great as well, but minimizing the dryness will have a more immediate and soothing effect. |

Hi Angel!  I've found that the TCA peel helped with mine. I had been crying (really hard) on a daily basis for 5 months  when I noticed that my naso-labial line on one side was very noticeable even when I wasn't crying or smiling. I did 3 full facial TCA peels... one at 12% - 1 layer, and two at 15% - 2 layers
Then I did one just on my laugh line at 15% - 3 layers. It is less noticeable now and I plan on doing a few more peels sometime soon. I've heard that some people have little scars from it, but only from peeling the skin off too soon. If you do decide to do a TCA peel, just remember NOT to peel the skin, let it come off on its own... It took about 10 days each peel for my face to finish peeling completely, and for the spot peels it took about 4 days to finish peeling...It takes me about 3-4 days for my face to actually start peeling.
I got mine from makeupartistschoice.com and I did do 6 weeks of glycolic peels (1 each week) at 30% to prep my face for the TCA |

| anomaly - can you compare the after effects (not results) between the glycolic peel and TCA? I'm just wondering how much worse the peeling, redness, etc. is with the TCA. I've done numerous glycolics and usually have no visible peeling from them. Thanks! |

| Tca peels are much deeper peel ,I have heard it can take a while to heal from a deep peel like that , Ive heard of people useing EMU oil after the TCA peel to get rid of wrinkles. I am turning 37 soon and just now starting to notice the laugh lines, frown lines ,I use glycolic acid peels and lotion , my favorite glycolic acid lotion is Donnel super skin 15%, it gives me just enough of a peel that the lines are less noticable and I do see the peeling action of it. |

I never had peeling with glycolics and I've done a 50% peel. My experience with 15% TCA is for the first and second day nothing,third day the skin becomes a little darker - like you've gotten a tan, fourth day I may begin to peel a little on the chin and the rest of the face begins to look very old and wrinkled (some get scared at this point and think they've ruined everything, but the wrinkles will peel away.) sixth day - slight peeling in other places and by the eighth, ninth, or tenth day all peeling is done.
The burning sensation right after the acid is applied is the same intensity as glycolic acid, just a slight burning for a few minutes, but I don't have sensitive skin at all. I've never had any redness and after the very thin layer of skin peels off its back to normal instantly.
While peeling, you can use moisturizer to "mask" the peeling, but it takes longer to complete the peel if you do this. I find that putting on makeup speeds up the peeling... After the peeling was done, I waited a couple of days and then did another TCA peel. I had no problems at all. |

I second this...would love to hear more reports about this, particularly from a novice perspective. It sounds kind of frightening, the way it makes your skin change color and stuff. That certainly makes me uneasy. It almost sounds like something an amateur shouldn't be messing around with... |

Lol, Candy and Janis!  I know I'm a bit scared too and that's why I just posted a question to Sharky on how she liked it! I will definitely report back after I try it. I'm going to wait for Sharky's response before I purchase it though. I don't want to waste $35 if the glycolic ones she does give pretty much the same results. I've spent enough wasted money lately (not on skincare though). |

Thanx for all ur suggestions. I have done a 10% glycolic acid peel (think it was Loreal at-home kit) but it didn't do a thing, no peelin, no tinglin, nothin! But I'm too chicken to try TCA.
Anomaly, will TCA cause hyperpigmentation u think? I'm naturally dark skinned & don't want any more tan 
I will start with Candy8865's suggestion on hydrating. Candy, do u think one or more of the oils u recommended will be ok for acne prone skin?

| Speaking of peels, has anyone tried or heard of "green peel"? A beautician in a Chicago spa recommended this all natural green peel, but I have never heard of it before. |

I am too chicken to try any peel.  any cream useful? or taking tablets? Dr. Perruicone said, taking certain tablets will even reverse ageing process. I am about to try it, it sounds more safer. |

Have you tried microdermabrasion, either at a salon or using a microderm cream at home?
I like Epidermx microdermabrasion cream myself...but there are lots of other brands.
I can't use peels because my skin is too sensitive, but I can use Epidermx. |

On makeupartistschoice.com they say that TCA is ok for dark skin, but to use the mildest (8 or 12.5%). |

Well girls, I went ahead and purchase the 12.5% sample from MUAC. I know platinumskincare was the better deal, but I didn't want to spend $40 on a lot of product if I ended up wanting to move up to 15%. I just read on the smartskincare forum where a lady used the TCA to spot treat her age spots and watched them pop their way off. I think I'll start with one of them as a spot treatment and then go for the full face after that. I will definitely report on my results. I want to try the 3 peels at 3-6 weeks apart as recommended for best results. I'll see how the first one goes first though.
I did read from several people that used the 12.5% that it's not bad at all. I figure if I can handle 8 weeks of horrible peelies from retin-a micro, I can handle a week of it with this. Besides, I've since learned how to deal with peelies to keep them from appearing too awful.
Does anyone that has used TCA before know how I should alter my 12.5% glycolic a.m. moisturizer and 2% BHA/retinol p.m. one before, during and after my peel? I know MUAC said that glycolics used before will prep the skin, but I don't know how close to the time of the peel they should be used, and I know nothing of the BHA/retinol one. Thanks! |

| Tam, Platinum has samples for sale as well. It allows for 4 peels or so depending on how many layers that you do. Just letting you know in case in the future you want to try theirs as well. |

Thanks! I couldn't find them though. I went to the TCA page and I didn't see "samples" just smaller sizes. What are they listed under? Perhaps I just didn't scroll far enough or something. |

| Tamgirl99 - I think with all peels you are supposed to wait 1 week after the peel before you use any of that again, or until after the peeling stops. Not sure of leading up to the peel. MUAC is really good with helping answer questions and they get back to you right away, you could try writing them. Please let me know how the TCA does for you. I did a series of 6 40% lactic acid peels at home (MUAC), and have had the glycolic peel series done at my doctors office (neostrata) and really I did not have any results with either of these 2 kinds of peels as far as wrinkles. So, I am very interested in the TCA peel. I have been afraid to use this one! |

I've had several glycolic peels as well and really had little to no results either. Sure it's great for exfoliation, but so is a lot of things. I want to try the TCA for an overall smoothing effect and to get rid of the pesky age spots/freckles I have. I'll definitely report back after my first peel. I should hopefully try a test spot mid next week and will do the full peel probably the Wednesday after.
I'm hoping that the TCA will also give improve any results from my Baby Quasar that much more. I also plan to use the TCA to spot treat difficult areas, such as deeper wrinkles/spots. |

| All this talk about TCA made me run to the bathroom and do it again! It's been about 2 months since my last spot TCA and I just did 3 layers of 15% all over my face. The burning was a little more than I remembered, but I fanned my face with a magazine and it wasn't too bad. I wanted to frost all over, since I've never experienced that deep of a peel, but I had only a tiny bit of frosting on my chin. Oh well, I'm not brave enough to go 4 layers esp. since I've been using retin a gel and I wasn't using it before. I did the peel yesterday and my face felt "tight". I did a few warm compresses which are supposed to help facilitate the peeling. This morning I have a few flakes on the sides of my nose and I look like I have a light tan. If I look up real close in the mirror I can see the top layer of skin is getting wrinkled. I'm not putting moisturizer because I'm a very impatient person, I have nowhere to go, and I want this over as soon as possible. |

| I have noticed that for me the key to frosting (besides doing a few layers) is to make sure that all oils are removed from the face. This means either alcohol (the kind from a pharmacy) or acetone. Normally this is a very bad idea but even in doctor's offices they use either of these two to completely remove oil from the face. Also, if you do layers allow for 1 minute wait between layers. I have done 5 of these now and experimented with each one and now found this method to be the most effective. I recently did 3 layers of 16% TCA from Platinum Skincare and I made sure to frost. In some areas (like forehead) I had to use a little more but otherwise I frosted, and then peeled a lot. It has been 10 days since I did it and my skin looks really good. Allow 2 months in between since you are doing many layers. This allows the collagen under the skin to build and gives your skin time to heal in between. |
