Hi ladies,
I am known as the skincare obsessed one out of group of friends--i am sure you all can relate .
today, my friend just asked me a question about wearing a foundation that has an spf 8 (specifically chanel, i don't which one in their line though) with shiseido sunscreen spf 55.
from what i have read and been told, you're supposed to apply sunscreen under foundation. but if the makeup and sunscreen both contain spf, to what extent do they degrade each and lower the spf? i am not sure if the chanel foundation has a physical or chemical sunscreen or mixture, but i think the shiseido sunscreen spf 55 is mixture. anyone have any thoughts on this? |

i can only answer this as a lay person, having absolutely no scientific background in this at all.... most foundations these days seem to have at least a low amount of SPF so it's hard to get away from them. i think the combo your friend is using is fine (it only seems to be some of the euro sunscreems like LRP Anthelios that degrade) as long as she allows the sunscreen to dry and sink in before she puts on her foundation. that's my take, anyways.... for the moment, i use Avene SPF50+ Spray and then a light layer of foundation from Vincent Longo with SPF15. waiting a bit between application seems to do the job. |
