Hi,I'm new to the board and have been reading up all about the eye wrinkles from a previous post - am I glad there are so many here concerned and knowledgeable about this specific area!
Please recommend a gentle exfolliant for this area. Would a glycolic product (toner??) work? If so what concentration.
I am late 20s and showing wrinkles and crow's feet
Thanks, |

I am only very new to this range but I think that Exfol Serum from Diane Yvonne is ok for round the eyes.
I might be wrong though. |

Hi Curiouscookie
Emma's right; exfol would be fine.
Basically you only want to use 'surface' exfoliants here not deeper ones. I read a scientific explanation of this, which makes great sense. Before that I'd always thought all exfoliation was bad for the eye area. I'll try and find it and post it here later.
Exfol is 2% salicylic. Otherwise glycolic at 8-10% would be OK. Lactic at a low percentage but I'd have to check the exact % might be better because you want an exfoliant with smaller molecules so it doesn't penetrate too deeply. This is because the eye area skin is much thinner so the higher percentages which cause enough 'controlled damage' to promote collagen production are not successful here.
I'm using PSF's pumpkin peel which is mostly proteases which are again only surface exfoliation, but only for one or two minutes max. and once a week is enough. You really need to go lightly.
That's all for the inner eye area. If you're talking crows feet outside the eye then higher percentages would be fine and more successful.

Molly,
Thanks that does help. If you do come across that article it would be great. I love doing research I guess that's why I'm here.
I would like to add that I have started using Avene Ystheal and will be adding Vit C serum in the AM to help the process of increasing collagen so an exfolliant is what I could never get anyone to help me with.

My bf has serious wrinkling in the eye area as he has never used anything.
I put Ice Elements eye serum on that area 2 times and see a huge improvement. I was amazzed!
Now, I do not see this same amazing improvement in my eye area, however I do not have the problem that he has and I have used products since I was a teen so it is probably different for someone who hasn't used anything... but it does show me how much this product actually does. |

I think I might have a solution to my own question - please comment.
It suddenly struck me that instead of a harsher chemical or cosmetic ingredient - why not use an age old remedy for both depuffing and exfoliation? Cotton pads soaked in milk (gentle lactic acid)?
Do you think it will work? |

Hi curious
I did ask about something similar on another site and was told it really isn't concentrated enough in the natural product, but I think yogurt does work a bit as an exfoliant myself. I was using that in the winter when I ran out of products. You could try it. |

Thanks I think I might - what I read somewhere was not to use regular milk out of the fridge but sour milk - so probably kept out for 1/2 day to produce more lactic acid. Been on Avene Ystheal in the eye area past 2 weeks and want to be really very gentle and exfoliate but not irritate! |
