Hello Ladies,
If you are wondering where to pick up some emu oil to try I have FINALLY found the family who owns the local EMU Ranch. A few of you have asked about the Emu ranch in my area (specifically Candy) and I have been looking for their flyer ever since --with no luck. Well, the local 'Art in the Park' was this weekend and since that is were I met the gentleman last year, I high tailed it to the park this weekend just so I could find him again. And 'Viola!' here it is.
It's called the Circle T Emu Ranch, (520) 456-2715 or 1 (888) EMU-5202. Email@ circlet@juno.com
The owners are Roger and Pricella Taber and they are both very sweet. Besides selling the oil you can purchase the emu meat (which is pretty good). They sell to a Resturant in Tombstone and locally. Weird factoid. Sorry.
I'll put down what they have on their flyer and let you ladies sort out which items you like.
1 OZ Pure Emu oil-$9.95
2 OZ Pure Emu Oil-$15.95
4 OZ Pure Emu Oil-$29.95
Bottle of 90 Gel Caps-$19.95
8 OZ Hand & Body Lotion-$9.95
2 OZ Moisturizing Cream-$12.95
6 OZ Shampoo-$9.95
6 OZ Conditioner-$9.95
4 OZ Sports & Muscle rub-$10.95
6 OZ Bruise Prevention Formula-$30.00
Soap Bar of Emu Oil & Goat Milk-$4.50
.15 OZ Lip Balm, stick-$2.50
My input: Anyway, the item Candy was interested in was the 1/3 ounce of emu oil for $4.00. It is still just four dollars! It isn't on the flyer so you may just need to ask for it.
The 1/3 oz lasts for a really long time, but the little bottle could be better (but I'm not complaining). It comes in a small bottle that has a ball on top-like the perfume roller applicators. A LOT of oil comes out if you attempt to roll this on your face!! I just put the amount I needed on my fingers then apply to face. Worked like a charm. No issues.
Yesterday, I bought their Travel kit (also, not on flyer). It cost $12.95 and came with the 1/3 oz emu oil, 1/5 oz Moisturizing Cream, .15 oz lip balm stick, a small bar of the Emu/Goat Soap, and a small (think PSF) container of Hand and Body Lotion.
I have been wanting to try the lip balm since last year and could kick myself for losing the flyer (you would think EMU ranch would be easy to find in the yellow pages....not so!).
I think their prices are really reasonable and the oil is processed at Texas A&M in case anyone was interested.
I'll review the products once I try them, but I do like the emu oil. It is VERY heavy so a little goes a long way. I hope this helps many out there!
Take care!
Deanne
P.S. Candy, I never forgot, it just took me awhile on the follow-thru! |

Deanne! You are SO awesome! Thank you. I'm taking it they don't have a web site? Since there were so many items not on the flyer do they maybe have a catalog or brochure? |

Sorry Candy, but I don't see any website. I didn't thing to ask. What I call a flyer is really their brochure. It talks a little about them and about the different uses of the oil then what they have for sale.
This ranch is their retirement home. Roger retired from the military some years ago and he and wife loved arizona and decided to raise emus. Not my retirement plan (just seems like a lot of work ), but then I haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up yet either. |

Hi, deanne123,
Do you know how they get the emu oil from the emus? I have been wondering that for a long time. Do they get it from the emus when they butcher them? or is it more like sheep that are shorn? This is my first post on this site and I'm pretty ignorant about all the info on it, but I'm really, really glad I found the site. |

They are "farmed" just like cows and yes some eat the meat, the Emu oil is obtained when the birds are butchered. |

Yes Kitty,
The oil comes from the fat I believe. Roger sends it to a University to get the oil.
I'm out of Emu oil (my dog got ahold of my bottle....he loves it) and I've been too lazy to call and reorder. I think I'll give them a ring.
YB reminded me of mu emu oil benefits and these are the only folks I use. I don't think you could get it any fresher unless you killed your own emu.
I just looked up this old post to get their info and saw a post from this year. TY Darkmoon, I haven't been as vigilant on here as in the old days of carekate and Winnie. lol |

Emu oil is really the fat from the birds insides you are putting on your face.
I did not realize you could also eat the Emu meat?
Makes sense, since it is a bird.
Off topic, but I was told by some Chinese people at a restaurant I go to that you can eat Pidgeon that is BBQ!
They used to have that on the menu, and when I asked where they got the pidgeons from-I was told they are farmed and they buy them frozen!
Is Emu meat like chicken at all?
I do not know any Emu farmers, the farm co-op I buy from only has Bison,Sheep,Goat, beef mostly. |

Ottawa,
Yes it is oil from fat, but it actually helps deliver your products a mite deeper into the skin since skin seems to absorb it so well (which is why you NEVER want to put it on with your foundation....talk about breakouts!)
EMU and jojoba seem to work very well for me. I am currently using Argan (and I prefer the smell honestly). I never tried to change the scent as EO can be irritating for me.
I know that pidgeon can be eaten, but so can guinea pigs. haha I have never heard of pidgeon farms until Arizona....but I never heard of EMU ones either (they have huge yaks too)!
Funny thing, the emu DOESN'T taste like chicken. Weird, since I thought it might. Its rather gamey and I don't care for it. I would hope pidgeons taste like chicken....they are closer in size. |
